I am so sick of seeing people get money for free from the government and then still somehow being able to afford to go on vacation. Here I am working full time, still trying to pay $80,000 in student loans, and can't even remember the last time I went on vacation and sure as heck have never been to Paris.
I think it just depends on the school. I went to community College for my associates and then transferred to get my bachelor, I also applied to any scholarship that was available. I can happily say I only have $2000 in student loans.
So what this whole country was founded on stealing and thievery no need to fake have morals and standards now…ask the native Americans 😴🥱

My mom didn't pay for anything. In fact, when I lived with her, I paid rent and still took care of the yard and house. Yes, college is expensive and I did it all myself. I never even considered going on any trips that I couldn't afford myself. Geez!!! Not to mention that I couldn't get braces until I was 16 and could get a job to pay for it. I was not happy at the time but today I can honestly say that everything I have today was from my hard work.

I know many peers that when we were straight out of high school and went into college, they "went to college" for only 1 semester and all the left-over money from the grant they squandered on overseas vacation, buy jordans or luxury handbags. It’s because you can sue for pretty much anything in America. It doesn’t mean it’ll be taken seriously or you’ll win any money- but you can technically sue for anything, especially in small claims court.

I knew people in college who would use their student loans to pay rent, car insurance and other living expenses. I refused to do that and only borrowed what I needed to pay for college itself. So I graduated owing a total of about $4,000. I had various university and private scholarships that paid most of it, and I had grants. I CLEPed out of four courses for 12 hours of credit. That’s four semesters of classes that I didn’t have to put time and money into. CLEP is offered in many subjects so I don’t know why more people don’t take it especially if you go straight to a university. That way you can get to the classes in your major more quickly. Some of my friends took AP tests and CLEP tests and were already technically sophomores when they got to college because of how many credits they had. At a lot of high schools there are programs where students can take college courses before they finish high school.

Doing online school abroad is a smart thing to do. Formal study abroad programs are hella expensive, and lock you down with a host family which can be sketchy and awkward. Traveling is a great thing to do as a student!

This is a big reason why we have a student loan crisis. Kids use student loans to live off of instead of paying for school, then they don't finish school like this brain surgeon. They can't pay their loans back and now it's my fault.

One of our 5, middle daughter Did use her leftover Pell Grant for a 12 day Bare Bones trip to Europe. 1980.She got straight As, lived at home,picked a local4 yr college, took busses to,from school. She was then Now Frugal. We chipped in too. As we were very proud of her grades, frugal living. She even paid Room n Board to us. Though we saved it unbeknownst to her. We gave it All back upon Graduation. Those Grants can be used for many things. Today,,,she's a well known modestly paid Staff member at a N/P that breeds,trains n Gives Free Skilled Service Dogs. To Veterans, the disabled n Autistic teens. I'd say,,just my opinion,lo.Shes more than done Right by the taxpayers gift of her Pell Grant.
