Workshop headphone comparison

  • Here is my review of the 4 over-ear hearing protection headsets that I use in the workshop. I have hundreds (and in several cases many thousands) of hours of time wearing these around all manner of loud things, woodworking, metalworking, landscaping, and shooting. I have a big head and big ears so my review is geared to people like me. The bottom line is that if they aren't comfortable, you won't wear them, and if they don't block much sound, they aren't really protecting your hearing. Thanks for the comparison! 3M work tunes for 8 years. I have two pair and love them - I gotta have the volume knob on the headphones, especially since I usually link it to a TV in the shop.

Thanks for watching! Having something as simple as a knob is so much more intuitive than a row of similar buttons.

Good comparison- trying to figure out what to get.. tried AirPods inside some cheap harbor freight cups today and was able to listen to a podcast while running loud equipment for a couple hours - but it was very uncomfortable

It depends on how much noise you are making, I absolutely love my isotunes pro earplug ones, but they don’t block enough sound to run a big planer, or a chainsaw.
