If you don't believe, that's up to you, and you can explain your reasons to Jesus Christ on judgment day.
A better proposition is to distinguish between moral and physical evil. The latter is always an outworking of the former.
That is why we are called to "guard our hearts" (Proverbs 4:23).

I think I would disagree with this about Turek. His answer will always default to "God's will." This makes sense given his worldview, but he doesn't articulate the areas he thinks he can rationalize well.
Throwing in questions such as, "Anyone you ask what's wrong with the world," is simply an appeal to emotion at minimal.
Evil is a way to describe malicious intent by other humans. When we see terrible things from nature and other animals, we try to equate their actions to humans. The term is anthrhropomorphize.
Good and evil exist only in the worldview of humans, as we can understand it currently.
Natural disasters are simple weather features with no discernment for life. But they can bring about new life (forest fires and certain trees).
Animals delete for food and sometimes defense of territory, "pups, ect. There isn't a right or wrong. Good or evil to nature. It just is.

The world is broken because we have been told we broke it so we keep breaking it cuz we are told we can never stop breaking it because we are wretched sinners.
I grew up in an environment where I was constantly told that I was bad, and I spent most of my life thinking I was, and acting out in those ways.

Talking about how God delivers Underserved Blessings, on the World.
Rain Falls on a village, and waters all the gardens in said village regardless of their Owners relationship with God...
Is how he described God's Blessings on the undeserving.
He also pointed out that the work continues to function, solely because of this Underserved Grace/Blessing.
Without God's Blessings, all that would be left is Sin... tainting & corrupting everything.

You probably believe in the Million Year Madness. So IF the universe was ALWAYS bad, how would SO MANY ANIMALS survive? theres the defenseless kiwi who defies artificial naturalism explanations. And HOW do we know the universe is BAD? The bad would be our only reference point. It is illogical to ASSUME that the universe was never perfect.

I think it's good that Frank Turek is teacihng people the difference between moral and natural evil. That said, I don't think his defense makes any sense. A perfectly just God would not let a boulder randomly land on a child, under the pretext that "Humans broke the world years ago, so this child is guilty of breaking the world, and thus worthy of death."

Moses wrote the Torah, was there an incentive to put a cursed, but otherwise forgiven murderer among the first stories? Could be the reason behind a six day creation.
Did exceptionalism play a factor in the building of the pyramids? Could be the reason behind the few in the ark.
The Tower of Babel would definitely have reached the heavens. Sure makes a 481 foot pyramid look like a sand castle.
With that said, so much was to gain in those revelations, can we trust everything being true? Enough to blame Adam for the defilement of earth? If Moses had the motive for writing about things he didn’t see, could he be the culprit? Victors wrote history.
Also, didn’t he say Jesus fixed it?
God is just and Justice will come, but make sure Jesus knows you before facing judgment !

There are many reasons why God may allow "bad things to happen to good people", the issue with some people is that they don't think those reasons are "good enough" or they disagree with those reasons. And that is their prerogative.
Why should we care what God's reasons are? We aren't God, and any such reasons may not be ones we would like or care about.
Worse than that is a god who designs suffering for all living beings

The moral versus natural often collide in a question like this: A doctor living in the third world is caught and drowned in a flood on his way to help poor and needy people in a remote location. A just God can't exist because he would never of let that happen.
Is there a video with Frank's answer to that kind of question?
Would there be gravity in a sinless world? If falling off a cliff or falling to the ground is a natural evil, do we assume no gravity in a perfect world? Or going even further, is there no pain in a sinless world, so 2 colliding objects either cannot collide or cannot be harmed by the collision?
You propose an interesting dilemma... In order for us to act and interact in a manner which would never cause inadvertent harm, we would need complete knowledge of the universe. Lots of non-evil, butterfly effect, negligence exists. For example, a child damaging a tree, which leads to rot, which leads to it falling on someone much later in time. We'd need at least two "omnis"... Omnibenevolent to be unwilling to cause harm and Omniscient to actually avoid doing it.
Pain would be either too minimal or nonexistent, and death would be nonexistent.
Why do you go the roundabout way of the CAUSES/CONTRIBUTORS not existing rather than the EFFECTS?? Very strange.

I went about it this way because I assume that laws of the universe that God created (like gravity/general relativity, quantum physics and thermodynamics) existed before the creation of man. Otherwise, the stars and planets could not exist without these properties. So, if that's the case, then we would also assume that earthquakes, volcanic activity, natural diasasters, and gravity existed before sin. And so, I'm not sure I agree with Dr. Turek's label that natural disasters themselves are a result of sin. But, if us dying/being harmed by them is a result, then that's more logical. So, your statement of saying that our bodies were immortal before sin would flow with that logic.
@@perilousrange Thanks for your response. I would tend to agree with that, unless it is that our bodies are immortal in a sinless/perfect world...in which case harm cannot take place. So, the omnis are no longer needed in that scenario. But, if they are needed, that would mean that in a sinless world (or heaven) that we are all omniscient. I'm not sure whether that would be bibilical. Feel free to correct me, but I'm under the impression that God is the only being that can be omniscient.

...and I don't really have a particular point or agenda... I just find this to be an interesting exploration.
I know this discussion didn't go into any particular denominational theology... but confessional Lutherans believe in real physical bodies in heaven, which is an interesting topic.
In this world we have experiential knowledge of both good and evil, reminding us of that choice made long ago, which is our cursed inheritance, until Jesus made a way to re-inherit the kingdom of God, where He will wipe away every tear.
Here's an image that can help. Picture a cup. Someone or something caused a crack to form at the point of incident. Does that crack stay at that point of incident? Or does it spread? And if so, how much?
That's one way to describe what happened in The Garden.
Or God could just have told Eve off for being naughty and then forgiven her like any loving father would.
Then all the horrific suffering that goes on in the world would not have happened.

In God's plan this process of becoming involves the appearance of certain beings and the disappearance of others. The existence of more prefect alongside the less perfect. Both constructive and destructive forces of nature. With physical good there exists also physical evil as long as creation has not reached perfection
I almost think that humans judging whether something is just or not, in a heavenly way, is sinful. We struggle to succeed in day to day justice, but God deals in a universal justice that supersedes any generation or period of time. We are easily deceived and manipulated without God’s justice.
Would you say the same thing to those sacrificing the children to Molek? If their religion was true, would that be totally fine, since we shouldn't judge what Molek tells us to do?

Adam and Eve did partake from the tree of KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL

I believe he is referring to Genesis 3:17-18
”And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;“
After Adam and Eve ate from the fruit of the Forbidden tree God punished for eating from it. Eve was convinced by the serpent to eat and Eve convinced Adam to eat. They were told that if they should eat from it they shall surely die and yet they did. That the point I believe Frank is making, that because of sin the very ground of the earth has been cursed, we caused this to happen.

Natural disasters are mainly random so I don’t necessarily think it’s evil it’s just random events in a random world. As randomness is essential for free will these things will just happen. True evil is when a conscious agent makes a conscious decision to do evil.
True randomness isn't a thing.
The universe, and everything in it operates via cause and effect.
@@somerandom3247 You'll want to brush up on quantum mechanics there. We can say truly that there is no human-observed cause (trigger) for a whole host of things that happen all the time. Now you can take it on faith that there is something causing it, but that's a faith object.

@@somerandom3247 something I would expect from a materialist. Materialism leads to determinism and humans have free will so things cannot be determined. Cause and effect can clearly yield random events, that’s why predictions such as the weather will never be 100 percent accurate.

If you notice people always find God when they hit rock bottom and all the attributes he wants us to learn through roughly 80 years of suffering we carry into eternity where all that suffering is gone. But again whether a world has them or not or whether you like them or not does not make them evil, humans choosing evils deeds is evil.
Creation suffers from evil because man's(Adam) decision to choose satan over God affected all of creation negatively. Remember even the Ground became cursed because Adam chose to hand over his authority to satan.

@@itsJPhereThis needs to be corrected. Nowhere in the Bible is it written that God will torture anyone who doesn't believe in him for eternity. Instead, God gave us a choice between life and death. Choose good by being obedient to God and you will live; choose evil and you will die. God himself is willing to help us to overcome sin through his Holy Spirit. All we have to do is repent, believe in the Lord Jesus for the remission of our sins and be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

(Genesis 3:17) may explain why there is chaos in the earth. "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it', "Cursed is the ground because of you." Sin brought suffering not only to humans but to the earth as well. However, a day is coming when the earth will be restored for believers. (Revelation 21)
God said he caused disasters to get His people to repent and call on Him. It is not a matter of justice or injustice, but of sovereignty. God the creator has the right to do what He wants with His creation.
I can't believe he left the devil out of the equation 😮. The book of Job clearly indicates that Satan caused Jobs misfortunes, yet in the natural, it seemed like accidents and coincidences.
Other matters to consider Why did jesus rebuke the storm ? Why did Jesus curse the fig tree ? Are they conscious or ..?🤔
God can do anything, even to nonliving things.
I'm genuinely curious to know the biblical basis on how human sin affected creation in such way natural phenomena (if they even existed) became disastrous.

No Jesus is going to fix it but in the meantime, he paid for the sins of mankind so that when we are judged by God, He Will have seen His Son. THAT He paid our fine of condemnation at Calvary so that we can go free. That is His gift to those that accept it. Yes, you can refuse it but face God on your own works and rebellion but not a wise decision at all.
To say that 'natural disasters' happen because we sinned, in a logical and scientific worldview is simply ridiculous. How can Adam's sin be the cause of scientific explainable natural disasters? Even I as someone who is desperately seeking to understand the existence of God, the Universe and life itself cannot seem to make that make sense.

He didn't give his son, he got him back again after a few days. That is a loan, not a sacrifice.

@@johnhammond6423 Jesus knew from all eternity before His creation even occurred that He would suffer for every sin committed by being hated, rejected, beaten nearly to death, then nailed on a cross for sins that He never committed, so that you and I could have salvation thru His death and ressurection. Yet you claim it was a weekend thing because you are a mocker who not only rejects His salvation, but feels the need to be sarcastic because God Himself chose to die for the faults and sins of humans like you. It just isn't enough for you is it? The devil wants your soul for eternity and you are happy to hand it over to him no questions asked. Funny how redemption by God isn't enough, but death from the devil is totally acceptable. Care to explain your faulty thinking?

1. There's no reason to think that all natural evil is the result of human choice. Suffering is an inherent part of the animal kingdom, and climate disasters have always been around. If you feel the need to assert otherwise due to religious reasons, that's strong evidence that your religion is wrong.
2. When you say that "something's wrong", all you are really saying is that you don't like how things are, and you would prefer things to be some other way. You don't need a transcendant moral standard for this. All you need are personal preferences.

This idea only makes sense if God is unable to "bring forth good things" without allowing evil (in other worsd, if his hands are tied). But an omnipotent God can't "have his hands tied" . To an omnipotent God, there is no good that absolutely requires natural evil.
To an omniscient being, the ends do justify the means, because both can be fully known. We can judge human actions in the past in this way too, "well, it worked out" etc. To temporaly bound humans, however, predicting the future in full is impossible, so some means can be reasonably morally denied.

Except God is not only considered omniscient but omnipotent as well. The end could be however it desired and know the exact consequences of its actions without having to resort to utilitarian logic. It wouldn't have to look back and say it worked out for the better because it would just be better by its own command.
However, let's say it is purely omniscient with some power, it wouldn't mean that the end validates the means to get there. Nor would it mean that this omniscient being had no ability to manipulate factors to prevent bad events and still get the outcome they want. Some bad things will inevitably happen due to the constraints of its limited power, but that would be in spite of its goal not because of it.

Nature behaved the same before humans ever existed. The absolution lies in the characteristics of nature and the so-called double effect.
God gave some kind of freedom to matter as well, meaning that it's not controlled by Him all the time (He constantly has to sustain everything, though) but by physics, thus, nature acts the way it does. (So He won't reach out to stop a falling rock from hitting someone.) The fact that we were initially protected from the destructive side of nature by grace, yet still refused it is another story.
The double effect comes into play when we understand that fire both cooks and burns, volcanic eruptions are both necessary and dangerous, our decisions often have both good and bad global consequences etc.
Volcanic eruptions would be unnecessary if God were indeed omnipotent and would not exist if God were omnibenevolent.

We broke the world because of our own sin? Don't use Free Will as an excuse to lay guilt upon imperfect human beings. Ask yourself... who/what created the universe? And then... as always been the case, once fairytales have been institutionalized you have those who will jump on the bandwagon for little more than the prospect of self-profit. And UA-cam is THE platform for that because ratings are based upon views. The more views the more likely those channels will garner advertising $$$$. Why can't we accept that the world is the way it is without judging it as "wrong"? We might prefer that rocks or coconuts or anvils don't drop on our heads, but that doesn't make it "wrong" if that is what happens, does it?
Now, it would be different if I was dropping the coconut on your head, or if I could prevent the anvil from falling on your head but did not do so. And in fact, that is the situation with an all-powerful, all-knowing God; it would be easy for God to refrain from dropping anvils or coconuts on our heads, or to make sure any falling rocks did not fall on any of us. And yet he does not do that. Even if you try to blame yourself or Adam and Eve for this unhappy circumstance, you will have to concede that it was God who made them, God who set the scene and devised the conditions of their disobedience, God who set the punishment for their transgression, and God who implemented that punishment and extended it to all creation after the fact. And he did all that knowing full well from the beginning that this would all happen. I don't see any logical way in which such a deity could escape responsibility.

The god of the Old Testament and New Testament are the same God. It’s just that the Old Testament god did not delay judgement until after we die, as the New Testament god does.
But I want you to know that God is not evil. He’s perfectly good. But what would a good god be if he didn’t practice JUSTICE? Justice sometimes means punishment - but our God is faithful to forgive our sins so that we can bypass that punishment. That’s what’s so incredible about Jesus on the cross. He took the punishment instead of us. But in order to be free from the punishment we deserve, we need to simply acknowledge and trust in Jesus’ actions, (and then act like it lol).
But yeah God is not evil… he’s so incredibly GOOD! He’s a loving, kind and forgiving merciful father.

If there is a god , then that god is subjective not an object , a subject is any conscious entity. Therefore even if there is a god who dictates morality, that morality is still subjective.
Also god can’t be all powerful and all loving, because to love someone is to be intolerable of them suffering unnecessarily, so being all powerful means you have the power to eliminate suffering. So in a world in which there is suffering, it’s contradictory to say god is all powerful and all loving. The same as you can’t credit god for life and what is good in life and not blame the same god for the opposite. Like the pro - life argument, if a god is credited with a woman’s pregnancy, then if that woman has a miscarriage, then god is to blame for the death of an unborn child, Christianity has insane double standards. Morality is an evolutionary trait, our moral standards evolved over time from living in a society. Empathy is a result of social living and morality is an extract from empathy, all social animals have a moral system / hierarchy, chimpanzees and bonobos for example are very similar but have very different rules they live by . The social system in community living , would breakdown without a moral structure, it has nothing to do with a god you can’t prove exists.
