    Just purchased your replacement fin rails. Looked all over YT, nothing, no vid of a DIY. You guys need to be the first showing how to install new rails on fins. Figured it out after going to a couple of forums.

    That makes it look so easy!
    My attempt was not so easy (or uneventful). Maybe that’s why I work in an office!?
    The C-clip did not go on easily at all, nothing like the demo. It was very stiff and was virtually impossible to install leveraging off he edge as shown. I used a pair of opposite - aka opening - circlip pliers. This made it much easier.
    It is very easy not to get the blade firmly in the pocket before drilling because it “migrates” when you put the sides of the pocket all the way down the fin blade edges. Got my first one wrong.
    Caution - don’t do what I did - do NOT put the foot pocket in the oven even for a short time on a low temperature - it wrinkles the edges of the foot pocket - probably still ok but less than optimal.
    Drilling with a small drill first e.g. a sharp 3/16” drill bit is better than drilling with a 1/4” because the carbon is so hard and there is more danger of splitting the fibres with a larger drill bit. Just try to go slow with feed pressure.
    Lessons learned - better to learn from someone else’s mistakes.
    My 2c.

    Great question! How'd we overlook that on the video???
    We use a #34 bit which is just slightly larger a 7/64 bit (2.8mm). If you purchase the blades from us, we provide the #34 drill bit with your blades so you don't have to worry about having the correct size bit laying around.

      I didnt get a drill bit from you folks with my blades but I used a 7/64 and the screw may have been a bit more snug than with your size bit but it worked just fine. Just in case anyone is in the same situation.

    does the foot pocket fits other blades such as mares razor or beuchat ?

    • @makospearguns
      @makospearguns  10 років тому +1

      Great question! Our foot pockets fit just about any blade except for the beauchat blades. Beauchat blades are very good quality blades, but they are designed to fit the only Beauchat foot pockets. Other than that, the MAKO foot pockets should fit just about any blade.
