For all our new fans, We have some great tutorial videos on our youtube channel.
Here's one of our favorites: How to tie bands for your speargun.
Speargun bands are referred to as a lot of different things - powerbands, speargun rubber, even speargun elastic - but whatever you call them, almost all need to be tied and this video will demonstrate this process in detail.
The video will guide you through all the steps needed to tie your speargun bands - from measuring and tying knots to testing the band before you install it on your speargun.
Enjoy the video? - please give us '+1' or a comment if you find it helpful and you'd like to see more tutorials like this.

I should also note that the type of cord used is critical to the knot holding! I used some good nylon cord that was strong, but slick. Sure enough, it slipped when i tested it under pressure and slapped my hand pretty good. Definitely, use the correct cordage. I switched it to the same cord I use for my compound bow D-loop, which is a stiff 2.4 mm cord. That's doing the trick. Better yet, probably just go buy Mako's cord and not worry about it.

Nice video and very informative. However, I like to tie my bands with loops from each end with the wishbone attached to each loop with a sheet bend not. This makes it easier to change the wishbone out if it breaks. This can even be done while you are in the water spearing so that you don't waste valuable water time re-outfitting the gun.

What if we dont have that (T) shaped metal thing to put the rope inside the rubber?

Thanks for the real nice tutorial. What I would like to know is, what thickness dyneema is used for the wishbones and what size for the constrictor knot bands? I'm in the UK and would buy from you but I can't afford $50 shipping on two pieces of dyneema. Cheers.

That placement tool is $20. I used a 3/8 x 1/2 x 1-1/2 steel spacer for $1.5. Worked it in easily with a stub from a pair of pliers. Worked like a charm. No damage to the rubber at all. Could also use a 9mm 1/4 socket.

Hi Bryon, it's always great when you can can McGyver a tool - kudos! and fwiw, our insertion tool is half that price!

10$ would have been worth it... sorry, I looked on Amazon. My way took longer than your guy on the video, that's for sure.
