Chekson &

I am not sure, that I could accept such way of telling history of the hell on the Earth on 1918-1922, 1932-1933, 1937, 1947..., because of terror to Ukraine by moskovian "brothers". Almost every ukrainian family has got own history, that is still painful. But the song exists, and might be somebody could dig deeper the real history of Ukraine because of it.
You have a point when you say that many Ukrainian songs are about (or at least based on) historic events. It's true that this year there are especially many such songs, mainly because history and culture are kinda "sore" topics: during the history, the territory of modern Ukraine used to be occupied by other countries and there were many tries to assimilate Ukrainians by deporting them, starving them, banning the use of their language, and trying to get rid of their historical memory. Ukrainian language and culture survived in spite of all of that, and for Ukrainians it's a great and highly important achievement - and it's crucial for us not to lose the identity since our ancestors sacrificed so much to save it in the past. And it doesn't hurt that putin, who denies the very existence of independent Ukraine, much less its own history, culture and language, gets mad when reality doesn't match his fantasies - so we like to "remind" of certain historic events)))
Yellow prince - it's the devill of a hunger. And his comes one time per 100 yers.
This clip shows only small part of 1932-1933. I'm from Ukraine and I get this lirycks only after 3rd time of replay. It's hard to realise transation without the knolege of our history.
Thank you so mush that You are shering our culture!
the yellow prince/kniaz is the personification of one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse - Hunger.
Be safe
The clip is artistic as hell, but, actually, this is based on one of the books about the 1932-1933 Holodomor (the famine organized by the Soviet government), one of the books I was a bit terrified of when at school. The man hanged in front of "Peace! Labor! May!" placard with a written sign "(He) stole bread" is obviously just one of many typical (and by far not the most terrible) part of that genocidal famine.
Wow
There is a book with same name "Yellow Prince" from V. Barka - it is story about Holodomor, he survived it himself and wrote about his experience and some experience of other people. But this story is positive one - like "do not lose your humanity even in such scary situations". I'd recommend to read it.
thank you i will check it out
In 2019, the film "The Price of Truth" was released (It seems that you did a reaction to Jamala's song for this film.).
It is dedicated to the British journalist, Gareth Jones, who tried to tell the truth about the famine in Ukraine, but was killed for it. For the West, Stalin tried to create an image of the USSR as a communist paradise. At the same time hiding the cost of economic development. Guests from Europe and the USA were shown well-fed children and full counters, where food was specially brought in, not as goods, but decorations.
Some in the west even helped cover up the truth. For example, the American journalist Walter Duranty. Unlike Gareth Jones, he denied the famine and wrote a series of positive reports from the USSR, for which he received a Pulitzer Prize.
It’s just gets deeper and deeper Nat
Wow! (To have Russia as a neighbour at your country's border is a real challenge. We, the Baltic countries, do now it as well.)
Thanks for the reaction. Perhaps you will be interested, the hanged man was written "stole bread". The Yellow Prince symbolizes the Holodomor of 1932-1933. Sorry for possible mistakes through the translator))
Interesting!
Thanks for this video view❤ this song is great, and these performers have other great songs!

Hi Uncle Momo!
Thank you for highlighting Ukrainian culture on your UA-cam channel!
Allow me to offer you a reaction to Khrystyna Solova and Svyatoslav Vakarchuk's song "Hamerytskyi Kray". Actually, this song was written a long time ago and not by them. No one knows the author, so it can be considered folk. This song was born in Lemkiv region. The Lemki are one of the ethnic Ukrainian groups that have lived compactly in the Carpathian Mountains for many centuries. They have their own special dialect, very beautiful and colorful.
The song tells about the difficult times when Ukrainians had to leave their own country due to a great famine and pressure from Russia. They went to America and Canada as whole families. And sometimes only young people went, leaving home and parents... The song is about how difficult it was for them to part with their homeland.
Now this song is very, very relevant. Because many Ukrainians are once again forced to leave their own home, their own country and go far, looking for shelter and safety.

Text of the song "HAMERYTSKY KRAY"
I would fly to the end of the world
Like the wind that flies in the fields, hey,
To the American land.
I pity you, my home,
A house with a thatched roof, pity.
We had a great misfortune -
You can't earn bread, hey
I have to go far away.
I am very sorry for you, my mountains
Green mountains, sorry.
Oh, I pity you, gray jays,
Which I haven't heard in three winters, hey
Oh, I feel sorry for you, I feel sorry for you.
Because I had to go
To the American land.
Oh, I pity you, my country,
Where do my mom and dad live hey
I feel sorry for you, sorry.
Even though we have grief, I will not go
To the American land.

wow! its amazin
Thank you for reaction.
I am not sure if there is English translation of book "yellow prince/kniaz", Wikipedia says there is translation German, Polish, French, Italian.
I also wonder why kniaz is translated as prince, because some titles like tsar or emperor... usually are not translated into English. but this is probably a question for philologists
Prince is the closest title I think. But I'm not sure for 100%.
Thank you for your work and your position, Uncle Momo. Уou are real.
Thank you too
Really love this artist, he really one of the best of young musicians ❤️🇺🇦
Very true
Thank you!
You're welcome!
❤️🖤
Uncle Momo! Your voice is awesome! Are you a professional singer?
Lol I wish lol
1:48 “Duck muzla” is a translation error. It actually says "we've added some kachovoho muzla". It's slang for "we added some energetic music". The kind of music that "kachaye" - i.e. makes you want to dance. Maybe as like word “vibe”.
But this word is similar to the word “kachka” - “duck”.
“Muzlo” - it also slang for “mUzyka” - music in Ukrainian language. But also “muzYka” mean “music artist”.
Different in accent U or Y: mUzyka (music) or muzYka (music artist).
“Skhozha” - scenic name of artist from this a video. It’s word mean “Similar” in female form. Male form for word “similar” - “skhozhyi”.
Thank you very much, always welcome information for me to learn
