In setup, I think the rule about placing swamp landmarks on the closest source still applies. It’s just in this scenario, the closest source to the heirs is a long way away.
Thanks for this. Watched your opening comments and I can relate to this a LOT. I’m planning on some live videos of this so that experts can help me with the rules. That helps me learn, but also means that the video I put out is hopefully correct. Would be great if you were free as you currently know more than me :) Keep up the great work.
@54:00 Shannon did clarify on BGG that spires can fire through other spires. A couple times you moved your hero between your minions, when he should have gone first or last. It very interesting watching this. I played this same scenario quite differently.
Nicely done! Thanks for the "analysis" along the way - it really helps me! And, thanks for posting - it's so hard to keep everything straight when you're just starting. Great game.
Best way to shuffle the chips "IMO" is to do what I (probably falsely) call the casino shuffle. Spread all chips to be shuffled face down on a flat service and "stir" them around and around until they are good and mixed. Sometimes pull chips across back and forth to further randomize, then restack them.
Yeah.. that works.. I just don't like it. I wish there was a cooler/more elegant way to do it! I thought about maybe making a chip shuffler... I'd get plenty use out of it with both Too Many Bones and Cloudspire... We'll see :)
Learn the Poker player's chip shuffle. watch any poker tourny on youtube... watch how poker players play with their chips... most of the time you'll see them shuffling them
Great video! Just a reminder that you were calling ‘source’ CP a lot in the video but they are in fact different things. Source is the currency you spend for the market and building and CP is the number of command points worth of units you can deploy. Thanks again! I’m loving the game so far!
Hi jamjams - Yep, got it. I knew what I meant, but was just getting the terms mixed occasionally. Should be fixed in my 2nd video which just went live today. Thanks for watching!
Your opening disclaimer is what every person goes through when recording playthroughs. Some folks love seeing my first playthrough. Others demand perfection. The former gets posted right away so those of us getting the game can see something. The latter requires delay and by the time the video comes out, we already know how to play and don’t need your videos anymore. :) it is a trade off. I always value getting the video out sooner.
Great video really enjoyed it. As for the hex you placed from the marked. It could have place so that the road was blocked and opened up the have upgraded spire.
Great video! Thank you so much! It just show how much Chip Theory Games are fantastic! Sure, a lot of rules, but you need to play to understand them! Keep up the great work! :D and please... another one!
I kept thinking that I was listening to Jesse Eisenberg play Cloudspire.😁 You didn't reroll the no attack result on the Forsaken die when it was adjacent to the top spire, which might have been significant.
Hi Gary - Hah, I've never been told I sound like him before... Interesting! Yeah.. I made plenty of mistakes on that play through.. Hopefully the next one will be more smooth! Thanks for watching.
Like Too Many Bones, Cloudspire has a lot of details that aren't always clear in the rules and that are easy to overlook. I never found an explicit statement about range attacks being blocked or not, for example. Watching you play with mistakes and rules questions is helpful because I think that will help me when the game arrives and I can play.
at 1:01:03 I think I would have jumped at the opportunity to pop that unstable rift. You would have gotten 8 cp from your unruly minion and an additional 2 and 2 for the bird stack too for a total of 12 cp. I would have just brought out another unruly minion the next round and used the extra 5 cp for upgrades or something.
Thanks for uploading this man! Glad you gave lots of details and explanation btw. Still waiting for my copy so it was cool to see some gameplay. I’d also like to know a easy way to shuffle chips. Haha!
Thanks for watching Darrell! I hope you get your copy soon! And, I need to find a way to shuffle chips! It would be very useful in both this game and Too Many Bones for sure.. If I find something that works, I'll post it.
I think you forgot to level up Kram when you defeated the unit after you already had 2 upgrades. I think it is only the AI heroes that do not level up, unless I missed something. When I played I forgot to put the elfenkaze out every wave after the first. It's a lot to keep up with, but hopefully with more plays it will become easier to keep track of. Thanks for posting. There isn't much cloudspire stuff going up currently and I'm looking for all I can find.
Hi Jeremiah - I'm not sure if I forgot, or just decided not to. Upgrading heroes is optional. Yes, it's definitely a lot to keep up with - tons of details and things to watch, which makes it especially hard to film, knowing people will be catching all of your mistakes. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for pointing this stuff out, Greg. Yeah I made plenty of mistakes on this playthrough. But I've got another one uploading that hopefully I will have made way less mistakes on. Thanks for watching!
You should have been able to build three spires with your architect in wave two. The builder talent triggers before or after movement (i.e., before spires fire). When the architect killed the harrier, I believe it should get promoted; and then before it's next movement it could build on the source well in the field at the top of the first hex group. Then it would flip back to its normal side. Then when you moved in harm's way in the next turn, it could build on the source well on hex group #1, at the end of its movement, at which point it would return to the barracks before spires fire. That said, you're doing a MUCH better job with this scenario than I did on my first try.
@DianeMountford Since the Architect is a minion, why would it be promoted after defeating the Harrier? A hero can level up after defeating an enemy. Is this something special about Architects?
@@GaryBeason You're right. Brawnen minions don't promote that way unless you have the Academy Peak level two fortress upgrade. So not quite as cool, but still could have built two spires before the architect was gone.
Hopefully sometime soon! Got a lot going on, so having a hard time finding the time to record and edit - but maybe this weekend if I can find the time. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for doing this, it's great! Question at the beginning, you moved Kram over the landmark, I thought no units could move onto or through a hex with anything in it, another unit, landmark, or spire... ?
Also, does the only 1 damage from the high rise take off the fortification on Kram, or should it need to do 3 damage with his Armor ability, to thus do 2, and remove the fortification?
Thanks Ronny! Much appreciated. I hope to make another one soon! I've got a lot going on in life in general, and I've got a couple of game devs that I'm really busy right now doing playtesting, so it's tough to find time to record and edit videos.. But we'll see - hopefully soon. And I hope you get your copy soon! It's awesome!
Very enjoyable video! Does Armored protect against Glidebomb? I remember reading something that it doesn't. Also, sorry if that is a silly question, but could you have not built something with your Architect when it was at 1hp and about to be destroyed?
Thanks George! I got plenty wrong, unfortunately, but, I'll keep getting better at the rules. As for Glidebomb, the Heirs faction sheet doesn't state anything like that, and the Brawnen Armored description says "When this unit is attacked, reduce the damage dealt by 1". I suppose there could be an argument that the Elfinkaze's explosion is not an attack.. I don't know, I'll have to ask on that. As for the Architect, I think he died prior to when I would have been able to use its ability (from a spire if I remember correctly). I'll have to check. Thanks for watching!
@@PrattskiTheTabletopGamer Shannon has clarified pretty strongly the difference between "attacks" and "talents". Since Glidebomb is a talent then things that protect against attacks suck as armored do not count. In a similar topic, retaliations are different from attacks as well, therefore Armored would not attack against retaliations.
Hi Jonathan - Yep, one of the many things I got wrong. Figured that out today. Even things like the "Impale" talent of the Grovetenders can't be avoided by Armored or Flying.
I know you're going to be biased since you bought them, but for those of us who skipped on buying the 3d spire towers... Do you find them to be a worthwhile enhancement, or are they a cool looking nice-to-have enhancement? (I unfortunately don't have the time to watch the entire video do to draw my own conclusion).
bgm - Obviously they do not change up the gameplay at all, it's purely aesthetic. However, I have seen pictures of people's games that do not have them, and, it just looks like a totally different experience. With flat chip-only spires, you have to pay more attention to the chips themselves, and you also don't necessarily know which spires belong to which factions easily. With the spire minis, it's extremely obvious what spires are, and who they belong to. And they also look way more intimidating! So for those reasons, if you are going to be investing a lot of time into this game (which I definitely am), it's 100% worth it.
@@PrattskiTheTabletopGamer Damn. Not exactly the answer I was hoping for. :) For the first time in many years of backing games on KS, I made a fiscal decision to NOT add an add-on to my pledge! I was hoping the decision wouldn't backfire on me. I'm going to keep looking for someone who says you're wrong so that I'll feel better, but I doubt I will! :)

@29:58, I think Kram would take the full 2 damage since it isn't an "attack" but an ability doing the damage. Not 100% sure though.
That's actually correct
@20:58 you cannot move through the Landmark.

The high rise at 21:12 has an attack upgrade, so wouldn't you roll one extra attack dice (2 total)?
@40:48, I think you can now Promote Kram after that kill (although it is optional and you would lose the 3 armor)?

Tableshuffle the locations and then put them in a pouch to draw from randomly.
