A lot of people are saying the key to a good production is a good recording. But the difference between a good and bad producer is someone who can make it sound good regardless. And if you can't you need to keep growing your skills. Good luck fam 🔥
İve been mixing for about 8 years, and if you listen me, one biggest secret is "there is no secret"... No magic.. Best i can tell to everyone is that the more quality and perfect record you got, perfect mix comes out. "if you have experienced ear and knowledge.
When it comes to mixing vocals, that guy is actually right. I also use the same fckin' chain I've developed thoroughout the years - in all my vocal production, but I edit it depending on artist's voice and the particular song and mix. I disagree that "there is no secret" 🤪
@@mattbukovski92 totally correct. And for sure there is secret, but its not like magic button. Plus, her was talking about esses, its okay, but big big studios have tons of mic and they are not calibrated 🤣, there is no need. Engineers buying that mic for particular vocal or source to get the tone. İf someone has much sibilance in their vocal, you should know the mic that record have no boosted frequency in that range... Blah blah blah.
The most important think we might call "the secret" is can be the chain. And the secret we might say is the way you get the source most quality and perfect way.... After that mixing will be just about coloring, contast, depth, balance. Once your vocal is very good and quality, it wont even need 150 plugin to mix or 50 technic to enhance it. Also sound selection is key too. Because sometimes no matter how perfect you got thé record, maybe the sound that producer produced is not fit with the vocal.. And when you try to created space for vocal, every mix move you do will take something from the soul and feeling. When i started İ was like him too, was believing that there is secret for perfection🤣, than reality hit my face and you will learn.
I’ve found that using 2 eqs works better for me. The first would be early in the chain and used as a “reductive” eq. The second would be after compression and as an “additive” eq. To each its own! Great video 🔥
@@Towoawawabo8it just depends on the sound quality you’re going for. an industry-quality mix would have way more than what he’s done in it. by far. if you’re on the indie level, you may prefer minimalism such as when Billie Eilish first started. it just depends on the grade of sound you’re going for. you wont get an ultra-sharp and crispy sound being minimalistic unless your mic and outboard equipment are incredible and some people WANT that sound. 🤷🏾♂️

U know what works better and trust me on this one (1 phase) put the eq infront of the compression and cut the frequencies u dont want to boost (aka all the frequencies except the ones he boosted) just use a simple 3 band ore whatever just use a wide band on them What that does is it gives you more headroom on those "non boosted" frequencies after the compression therefore you vocal sits tighter in the mix Otherwise (like he did) you also compress the frequencies u dont want to boost but now you are already working with a compressed signal + u are now boosting ur "wanted" frequencies on top of that But besides of that a good video ✌️ Just remember if u want to boost something cut around that "need boost" area
