I like the thing he said about the bounced 2 track of the vocal stems to go in the folder for more control once the track is already mixed. That sounds oddly like a mid-side chain effect where you cut out low, mid, and high frequencies on a track.
Man… the fact that you guys have only been running this pod for barely a year and you’re already bringing in S tier guests is a testament to what you do for the community. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the audio nerds 🔥
34mins in this interview and i can say….for a studying musician this is def top ten interviews ive watched…devon you are more than a audio nerd bruh…bruh you are a cornerstone to the community…and ali is a inspiration to musicians….keep pushin my brothaz…
Mixed By Ali is the GOAT. Sharing 3 different 5 hour long mix streams on UA-cam for free from one of the greatest engineers of our generation is not spoken about enough
Man to hear Ali say bout that 2 track instrumental and 2 track vocals for mastering just made me know I aint crazy no more. Started doing that for albums and its a life changer. Matching the dynamics from track to track or the vocal levels, space, texture. Thanks Audio Nerdz
@@caterbenzz basically bringing in the beat and vocals as separate stems when mastering/sequencing to be able to make small tweaks to match/glue transitions by affecting either the beat or vocals independently.
You guy are Golden!!! I’m 10 into my mixing career after earning my bachelors in fine arts … but you guys are making jewels accessible. Thanx young kings.
for the vocal on the 2 track part, you can also use pro-q3 and analyze the vocals then copy and slightly duck those freqs on the 2 track it makes it fit so well
That’s it!! “I NEED TO STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS”. Best advice ever!!!

Phenomenal Interview! Mixed by Ali is in the industry for decades and he is still looking so young and fresh - I don't know his age (I'm 36) but just from looking at him and his vibe he looks like a man in his thirties, which I love because it means we have him here for so much longer! One of those who don't want to keep it all to himself, a real master, finding the purpose in giving back, through his platform. Just amazing! My artist name is trifalga rises by the way :)
This is full legendary right here! I'm happy as hell for all 3 of you to have Ali on. So many gems in this episode. Devvon saying "i submitted my album" got me hype as hell 🤘
Such an inspiring engineer. His work with Kendrick is truly a benchmark for sonic excellence in Hip-Hop history. And his story is a reminder to never let limited resources limit your vision. From 2-track mixes and AT2020 vox to owning Dre’s console…sky is the limit for real
Thank you Devvon, you did more than Help Me. When you decided to have you guys all sit down with Ali for this Q & A session, the amount conformations I received were life changing so to the point that this was a gift from GOD.
I love this podcast too much. I’ve learned so much from devvon thru his tutorials, I love all of the guys on this pod and love seeing all of you succeed. You give me hope and inspiration to follow my passions. As Ali said “Keep feeding your inner dreamer” and I appreciate people like you all inspiring the people like me who have trouble believing in themselves.
This podcast is perfect. Thanks for allowing me to surround myself with people who have an incredible amount of knowledge to share. I'm able to better myself and improve so quickly thanks to u. You naturally pick up on whatever you are around and listen to all day. With these videos you've been teaching so much so quick and in a way thats easy 2 understand. ♡♡ thank u man I used to get frustrated and give up on learning how to mix but not anymore.
I just found your channel randomly after I'd been watching videos about making beats. Your info is great for people like me living on ramen. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
In a way not knowing is how you create your sound sometimes musicians who didn’t follow in traditional music theory become so great and legendary because they accidentally create there own distinctive sound amazing interview by the way as well 🤝🏽🙌🏽
Been subbed to you for a min and all I can say is thank you bro! My vocal chain and understanding of mixing and mastering is day and night. Now this episode, let’s F’n goooo!
Hey man, amazing podcast for real! Could someone help me understand the sequencing tip? What I understood was: He bounces the final mix of a song, then makes an instrumental track with a vocal track. He then drags that into a separate session to sequence the aLbum and make transitions. He then finally bounces a “ final final mix” ready for mastering? My only problem with this is if you are doing two stages of exporting are you not loosing quality? Thanks !
I remember when the chronic 2001 came out. I went to Ecuador around that time. I made sure I took that cd and my cdplayer and lil speaker. I was stupid on! I was in a place called atacames. Super rural back then. I was putting everyone on my cities music 😂
Great interview. I use a prism sound Lyra with a Manley Ref C, bae 1073, Tube tech.....however, I like my hardware 1176 better for tracking......Im thinking about adding a summing mixer to my setup...what summing mixer would you all recommend?
Glad to listen in on your Podcast and Ali. I never had used the Voice of God Plug-in but will check it out What I was using that is similar Is Boz Digital Bark of Dog 2 It has been doing what the VOG does for me, but you learn something new every day! Thanks!
SO MUCH GAME in this episode man!! You earned another new sub. I feel like I Manifested some of the answers I was looking for and you literally asked him the questions. Thank you so much. LOVE

That’s dope that Ali engineered that tyga mixtape. I had to look it up. He said 03’ I was like I thought that was 07’.
I like the thing he said about the bounced 2 track of the vocal stems to go in the folder for more control once the track is already mixed. That sounds oddly like a mid-side chain effect where you cut out low, mid, and high frequencies on a track.
Audio nerds is what the community needed. Very entertaining and informative.
Just realize how much of us it is
This is almost like producer grind but with a mix engineer type of focus!! 🔥🔥🔥💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
the growth of this podcast is DISGUSTING!!!! Kudos to yall! We appreciate yall!
Yo this is insane for us too. Like we can’t believe this actually happened

Everytime I listen to Ali, it encourages me to keep attacking my ideas that seem corny at the time. 🙏🏾 Great episode fam
Nothing you do is corny. Don’t define your journey by perceived opinions
damn thats a massive gem...the two track bounce and a vocal track bounce separatelly
Mixed By Ali is the GOAT. Sharing 3 different 5 hour long mix streams on UA-cam for free from one of the greatest engineers of our generation is not spoken about enough

wat he say
Can u please explain in simple terms my English is not that good
@@caterbenzz basically bringing in the beat and vocals as separate stems when mastering/sequencing to be able to make small tweaks to match/glue transitions by affecting either the beat or vocals independently.
Let me be honest, you guys have introduced me to many legends in the mixing engineers world. Keep doing more of this
Mixing is so hard for me, I love writing, recording and performing but the engineering is so hard even with good gear and plugs
Mixing is subjective fam. Make it sound good
I feel you dude. None of my stuff is great by any means. But "good" is a good start. Just keep going
You guy are Golden!!! I’m 10 into my mixing career after earning my bachelors in fine arts … but you guys are making jewels accessible. Thanx young kings.
I know this word gets thrown around like crazy these days, BUT THIS IS SOME LEGENDARY SHIT RIGHT HERE...and I'm all for it to happen.
