Why not de-ess before the initial compression since this is corrective? Honest question =)
You can! I like to compress after the first EQ just as a small Dynamic control. This gets the vocal a bit more consistent before I start things like De-ess ect.

Stop ✋️ the cap Engineers 😤 Visual is good to know what you are doing and hearing. If you rely on gps to take you somewhere you never been or visually can see, why not use eq's and compressors that give you that same thing. Honestly if it sounds good and you feel good about it, leave it.
What was the rapper mumbling. I couldn't understand a word he said. I dont like autotune..makes it sounds like a robot trying to sing. Or else good tutorial
If u bad singer it makes it sound robotics. Every instrument is needed to be tuned, included vocals.
