      Why would Bob kill Wood Hite, especially when it was Liddil who pointed a gun at him? Wood had nothing against Bob at that time, except that he had an argument. He truly was a coward in that moment. What a strange, momentous decision.

    The atmosphere of this music is so full of tragedy, nostalgia and loss. As you get older those things become a bigger part of you. I listen to this and look back at the happy times, so long ago and far away and feel such a strange variety of emotions, love and joy that I had such happy times and sadness and grief that they are gone forever. Such a cathartic piece of music..

    He was ashamed of his persiflage, his boasting, his pretensions of courage and ruthlessness; he was sorry about his cold-bloodedness, his dispassion, his inability to express what he now believed was the case- that he truly regretted killing Jesse, that he missed the man as much as anybody and wished his murder hadn't been necessary. Even as he circulated his saloon he knew that the smiles disappeared when he passed by. He received so many menacing letters that he could read them without any reaction except curiosity. He kept to his apartment all day, flipping over playing cards, looking at his destiny in every King and Jack.

      @drog.ndtrax3023 3 місяці тому +1

      @@bendover2649 It's also because that's not how those awards work. They are PR events and you don't get them without award lobby money, and even then they favour established directors, or people who are "due". The Academy is a studio funded marketing organization and they only promote films that they determine will best represent their brand that year, and the technical awards are an afterthought. The jury has no autonomy and hasn't seen most of the films they are voting on anyway. The studio didn't believe in this film and it shows - it was barely nominated for any awards and only two Oscars, one for legend Roger Deakins, and one for Casey's supporting performance. If it just wasn't its year it would at least still have been nominated properly.

  • @Kup32
    @Kup32 3 роки тому +100

    I keep asking myself if the movie just hit the right notes with me but the more often I watch it, the more I get enchanted by the humanity it oozes. Deakins and his naturalistic style couldn't have been a better choice for cinematography and although I haven't heard as many songs by Nick Cave or Warren Ellis, it's hard to miss how much they bled into that movie as well as the rest of the people involved. This movie is a poem of humanity itself. About it's weakness and it's strength. Not to mention the deep psychological dive into an American myth, that has been demystified and put into the right context of human experience. No heroes, no gods. Simply humans. The characters are depicted so realistically that you can't help but see yourself in them. You can perfectly imagine being the one putting the guns down in front of the men you suspect will kill you, as well being the one pulling the trigger on the man you suspect will bring your death. The irony. One had his final last words and the other one died before finding the right ones. In this regard you can't help but ask yourself which ones will your own end be similar too. Pitt gives a fantastic performance but it's Affleck that mesmerizes me every time I watch it. Maybe a lot of his feelings of himself as a person being Ben's brother went into the performance. And most certainly I would hypothesize that it did, because for me personally, it's the only explanation he was able to give such a deep-cutting performance. I love this movie. Fuck the box office. And I only hope that all people involved understand, what a masterpiece they created. And that the money the studio lost is worth a damn next to the humane achievement they manifested. On the other hand, I am drinking my third beer while I'm writing this. So what the fuck do I know.

    What really brings a tear to my eye when it comes to Bob, is the very personification of the man. We all make mistakes when young, we all have dreams of greateness and and tend to romantizice the badassery in men. I have came across people whom I used to know back when I was 18, 19, 20 and some of them had even asked me if I remember this or that thing I said, my overral view of the world and its almost as if they were making it up or talking about someone else, that's how volatile our younger years are. Most of us outgrow our mistakes and outgrow from a certain mindset into adulthood, im only 33 and I can barely recognize my stupid 20 year old self, the thing and big difference making it an outmost tragedy is how Bob outgrew his 20 year old self, but the world didnt, he was defined by his youngling mistakes and one of those defined the man for eternity as the coward who shot mr howard.

  • @Trapper3000
    @Trapper3000 6 місяців тому +2

    He was ashamed of his boasting, his pretensions of courage and ruthlessness. He was sorry about his cold-bloodedness, his dispassion, his inability to express what he now believed was the case: That he truly regretted killing Jesse. That he missed the man as much as anybody and wished his murder hadn't been necessary.
    Even as he circulated his saloon he knew that the smiles disappeared when he passed by. He received so many menacing letters that he could read them without any reaction except curiosity. He kept to his apartment all day, flipping over playing cards, looking at his destiny in every king and jack.
    Edward O'Kelly came up from Bachelor at 1 p.m. on the 8th. He had no grand scheme, no strategy, no agreement with higher authorities. Nothing beyond a vague longing for glory and a generalized wish for revenge against Robert Ford. Edward O'Kelly would be ordered to serve a life sentence in the Colorado Penitentiary for second-degree murder. Over 7000 signatures would eventually be gathered on a petition asking for O'Kelly's release, and in 1902, Governor James B. Orman would pardon the man.
    There would be no eulogies for Bob, no photographs of his body would be sold in sundries stores, no people would crowd the streets in the rain to see his funeral cortege, no biographies would be written about him, no children named after him. No one would ever pay 25 cents to stand in the rooms he grew up in.
    The shotgun would ignite, and Ella Mae would scream, but Robert Ford would only lay on the floor and look at the ceiling, the light going out of his eyes before he could find the right words.

    ONCE again ❤ this is the best song ever. Has so many levels. And goes straight to your heart ❤️. People like doing this song. And it's like a message to the world 🌎. It keeps going deeper and stronger 💪. It came to the point that no one can resist emotionally the power of the song. The song explains you where are you problems and where are your strength. Shows you, wich is the way to be the person you wanna become. It's so simple and so, I mean soooo complex. That it's a real puzzle 🧩 to the mind and heart ❤️. This is a master piece that goes far away from Vivaldi or Chopin . This is the song of Bob. Like Bob was something else. Brad Pitt, Jesse James, the mug. The atmosphere, ande the will. All is in the song. I can't say it in other words. The best song ever. Thanks from the bottom of my heart ❤️💜❤
