Thanks Darren! Unfortunately with all the filming, cycling, walking, driving I am more tired now than before I left but some might say that's the sign of a good holiday :)
Haha, very much so. I understand you might well be at Stanford Hall. If so, I very much hope I get to say hello. Undecided if I will remain loyal to the A2 (and club) or take the up! GTI and tick the VW box. All the best.
Very nice Andrew thank you for posting, not too keen on the bright colour on that particular specification, that is easily fixed though. I do like SUV's in general particularly the high driving position, I am a fan of panoramic sun roofs too. Electric will almost certainly be the future, however I still feel there is a little way to go yet regarding range under all driving conditions.
Nice review as always Andrew. I have the S1 with the same engine so it was very interesting to see how it performed in a much heavier vehicle. Off topic but I had to replace the battery in my S1 a couple of days ago. I had no idea just how expensive these AGM batteries are 🤦🏻♂️😩
Easy Jet orange - lol :) Audi interiors since the 1978 Audi Fox introduced me to the brand have always been special - lovely car the Q3 but you’re right regarding this now old school performance approach. Would love to see you hoon a RS280 through Suffolk or a Twizzy :) Great content and loving the transition graphics
When I first seen these sat on the forecourt I wasn’t impressed with them but they have grown on me. After this video they have grown even more, the orange isn’t for me but the interior as a whole I really like. I noticed a new camera mount on the headrest Andrew, what is that one? Looks ideal for Castle Combe again this year ;)
It's actually my oldest mount - can't believe it but I was making videos in 2007! Should have put some effort into that back instead of years later. www.b-hague.co.uk/hague_camcorder_headrest_mount_chm.htm Didn't use it for years as my cars more often than not had fixed headrests. Haven't you heard there is no Audi Driver International this year? So unless we go to another event it's not going to happen. Is RS3OC planning a stand alone RS3 Fest?
volkswizard oh really?! No I’ve not heard about that :( I’ll have to check up on the RS3oc forum if they are doing something else, if not I’m not sure what other events there is
Is the conclusion a cop-out? I'd suggest that the only pertinent question is: If you were buying _today_ then would you choose the Q3? Who knows what choices will be around in 1, 2, 5 years' time? If you're in the market for a Q3-sized premium EV right now then the choices are both minimal (if not zero, depending on your criteria) and expensive; you've got to educate yourself on (and accept) the reality of winter range on an EV (maybe just 50-60% of the nominal WLTP range); and, at least for the next year or two, live with a relatively sparse and - in practice - unreliable network of rapid chargers in the UK, especially in more rural parts like East Anglia. I'm in the market for something like a Q3 (ie a 4.4m-ish compact 4WD SUV/crossover) and the 45TFSI is probably the best candidate but I'm not over the line with it yet. I found the 45 still lacking some punch - it felt quick, but not 6 secs 0-60 quick, I was less convinced about the ride over bad surfaces (admittedly in an S-Line without adaptive dampers) and you have to be able to live with what is becoming a very clichéd Audi design language. Personally I'm still hoping that a 300bhp 400Nm SQ3 will make an appearance in the very near future.
Electric cars won’t help though because about the same amount of co2 is released when mining the lithium for the batteries as the amount released when driving a car!
Great review, I am buying the sport back version however you complain about the car struggling to do 30 mpg, well it never will when you cane it about on country lanes exceeding the permitted speed limit as you were clearly doing. Enjoy your videos so keep up the good work.
Thanks Tom. I connected my phone, swiped right as you did your GTD and it didn't work, no Waze or second screen. When I got back, I updated the app and there it was! Not sure if I am going to teach you something but you can move it to the first screen using Settings on your phone. Take the CarPlay option. You don't even need to be connected to the car when you do it.
It's a similar size to Tiguan (I thought it was smaller) apart from it's 6cm lower which isn't insignificant when it comes to handling, plus it needs 20" wheels to look in proportion when Q3 makes do with 19s which are far better for the ride. The R line Tiguan is pretty much the same price as Q3 S line when fitted with the same 230 PS TSI/TFSI engine & S tronic (£39k). I haven't got time to sift through the spec differences but I don't think there is much in it. What would swing it for me would be the Audi quality which is far superior to VW these days and the attitude of brand - I've had some issues with VW recently and been very disappointed with their response so this would undoubtedly make me go for the Audi (or a Seat or Skoda)
@@volkswizard Many have said that Tiguan feels like a larger Golf. Here you seem to say, that Q3 is upgrade (more premium) compared to a Golf. Lower spec Tiguan (trendline here) feels quite cheap inside and outside.
Q3 is larger than a Golf 7/7.5 as is Tiguan and also feels more premium than both. They both have striking exterior design but the Q3 continues to impress inside while the typical VW accountant penny pinching is more evident inside. I was surprised at this considering the price parity.
Andrew , Thing my preference is this :ua-cam.com/video/iyVcn7sNuUI/v-deo.html or maybe the S version latest spec.ua-cam.com/video/ON5B9zuUcEU/v-deo.html
But it does matter because the amount of emissions will affect how quickly the sea levels rise. This part of the UK is particularly vulnerable as this article explains ; www.eadt.co.uk/news/suffolk-coast-forum-sea-level-rise-john-curtin-environment-agency-1-5735781
Unfortunately it's a holiday let. If I filmed an Audi in front of my house it would be stolen while I changed GoPro batteries. Luckily I'm moving soon all being well
A nice long volkswizard review = a great way to start the weekend. Nice and honest as always Andrew. Enjoy your well-deserved break.

Al Bedo Here’s a tip, get a used RS Q3. You can get one at around £25000 with 20000 miles on it.
Great review! Thanks. Loved the intro tune as well!
A pleasure! Thanks riad :)
Electric cars won’t help though because about the same amount of co2 is released when mining the lithium for the batteries as the amount released when driving a car!
Great review. Many thanks, Andrew. Enjoyed the "Easyjet orange" comment!! I must admit that I think Audi make the best looking steering wheels.👍🏼
They are nice aren't they though that one is £250 extra, a round one is standard :(

Does the q3 have hill decent control, aswell as the terrain control options like Tiguan
I’ve got that model in turbo blue and love it
Would you pick this over the equivalent Tiguan?
Don’t forget you can use Waze on the CarPlay setup (if fitted). Just swipe right!!

Are you saying you were able to move Waze to the virtual cockpit display too?
Lovely food for thought at the end of the video.
Great looking car. In that bright blue or nardo grey it would look nice too.
I'm so Happy Audi have accepted my loan application for an fully specced RS3 🤗
Oooh nice, is this used or new?
@@volkswizard lol used 15k saving 😁
Sensible - surprised they are still that cheap seeing they haven't been able to order for a while. Enjoy👌
It’s not that hard getting a loan for a used rs3. It’s harder getting one for a new car, I don’t think they even offer pcp finance for it.
@@alfredkc They offered me both.
Compare it with Tiguan. Is audi significantly better?

What is benefit of flat bottom steering wheel?
Robert Devoy Umm, it’s easier to use and you get paddle shifters
Lovely car. Sq2 is nice also

Shame about the audio & vide quality, but great breakdown of the vehicle...
Thanks Richy, So I can improve production quality, what specifically was the issue with the quality?
Doesn’t matter what you drive buddy you’ll be waiting a long time for the water to rise that far.

@@volkswizard ah OK great review
So it shows how laggy and thirsty Q3 is ? and wake buyers up before they jump and order one !!
Lol, it’s too slow. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. Can’t stand it.
And there’s the problem with the gearbox. It’s too slow when you start moving. And there is no feel to the steering at all.
And who would get a gti performance. It’s too slow. Get a golf r.
