    Parking sensors activate because the car thinks you're about to hit a curb. Yes, they sense higher curbes. My SEAT Ateca (Q3 sister) does the same, and I like it so I don't tear my tires in my driveway maneuvering.

    The parking sensors on all Audis are set to automatically activate whenever it feels something close to the car, like for example if you are pulling into a tight garage. It is a setting you can deactivate, so you can have them only come on when you put the car in Reverse or press the parking system button.

      Ive been a petrolhead for over 20 years, my prediction was that cars of the future (current gen) would all have big V8s or V12s that are fuel efficient, but its actually the opposite, small engines that outperform V8 engines of the yesteryear.

      Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't like the look of those skinny,rubberband tires. To me they don't look like they offer the rims any protection.I personally wouldn't even want them on a pavement queen. The interstate near us has potholes.

    I didn't think people would actually take crossovers off road until I checked out the Chanel : Matt's Towing and Recovery out of the Moab / Utah area. Hey, pretty good video man! Indeed, buyers of a Q3 mostly will drive in cities but it's nice you tested its capabilities offroad as it is still an SUV after all!
    Pretty tough offroad tracks btw for an urban SUV, all the more with road tyres and 20" rims but it's interesting to see what the vehicle is capable with stock equipment. The Quattro system did well.
    The slip tests is interesting too, thank you for including it!
    As you said, it does not have enough ground clearance to do tougher terrain like deep water wading or very muddy tracks.
    Great video, please do more quality tests like this.

    I have a previous generation BMW X1 and think of it more as a tall station wagon. I have the M Sport model and have only 6.5 inches of ground clearance and a low front spoiler, it would be foolish to take it, or the new generation based on the Mini, on a real trail or fire road, but mine is awesome on dirt roads since the AWD is rear biased. I have a YJ Wrangler for off road, leaf springs, solid axles and a real low range, gotta love 'em.

    It's not quattro. Its quattro ultra which is just vw haldex. Quattro is good old torsen.

    • @matthewgaines10
      @matthewgaines10 4 роки тому +3

      Another 'real Quattro' comment. Quattro is just a trade name that means whatever Audi wants to mean. Torsen diffs aren't even used anymore. The Torsen was replaced starting with the 2010 S5 with the Crown gear. Crown gear works similarly to Torsen without the royalty payment. Other models you seem to think were Torsen got Crown gear subsequently. So, Torsen has been coming off Audi vehicles for some time now.
      Quattro Ultra isn't Haldex either. It is a system that is mechanically different than Torsen, Crown, and Haldex but functionally works similar to Haldex. Haldex is used on transverse engine applications and Ultra on longitudinal engine applications. Hence, the Q3 isn't Quattro with Ultra, just Quattro and the Q5 is Quattro with Ultra. Again, the meaning isn't based upon how you feel about it but how the inventor of the terminology states it to mean.
