  • Here's a little bit more about my approach to one chord songs. Take your time with it...and most importantly get in the groove...it is most definitely all about the rhythm.
Don't rush, slow down to the point where you are comfortable with the tempo. Repetition is essential and indeed it's at the heart of this style of playing. Repeating the basic phrasing gets it into your brain and into your fingers.

I just want you to know that I tried the tru oil neck finish and then rubbing it down with wax and 0000 steel wool and then buffing the neck. After watching your video on this I tried it, and you are the MAN when it comes to a nice neck finish. Thank you for that tip. Clark in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho USA And this video is Great too.!!!!!!

Thanks John I think sometimes we as players, are more concerned with playing the song or the chords in a certain sequence rather than getting into a one note or one chord groove. Been playing a version of the 0 3 5 on the porch for awhile now. Very happy to see and hear your take on this.

You just need to take it slow, keep it simple.

Awesome! I have a Fender Blues Jr., PRS MT15, Blackstar Fly3 and 2 Line 6 Heads. I like the Tone of your Amp....may have to look into one😊

The Blues Junior should get pretty close - tone controls in the mid positions and not much gain, plus a bit of reverb.

    What Amp is that?

Fender Deluxe Reverb, FSR Limited Edition with pine cabinet and Celestion Neodymium speaker. I've only just got this amp and there will be a review about it that I'm posting at the end of this week. I usually use a Session BluesBaby, and I've also recorded a video about that which will be posted next week.
