Hey all, this is the Volantex ASW28 glider PNP: tiny.cc/ASW28pnp For more details on parts used, 3D printable parts etc please see video description. Thanks for watching, please remember to leave a reaction before you go 😊
Thanks :) although I wasn't the person to do this originally so I can't take credit for that haha. But I thought it was good to inform people that it's the best mod for this plane! Thanks for watching
Absolutely amazing! I will be ordering everything you have on it in this video, including the glider itself. Could you please share what range does this setup offer? I'd like to do some local thermalling, getting all the way up to base.
I have just bought this glider, and I'm currently in the middle of building it... and adding FPV (O3) (non-pan/tilt). I just wanted to say thanks for the stl files.
Sounds like a great setup 👌🏻 I’ve had an O3 since release day but not fitted it to anything yet 😅 it’s going in my new wing I’m mid build on though. Glad the STLs helped 😎👍🏻 cheers
Not flown mine much lately either.Think the faff of transport and joining the wings puts me off.Might try some of those 9 pin MPX 9+2 connectors.Great video, lovely spot.
Thanks Jake 😃 I think the MPX would be a good shout, but even then I’d still need 2 connectors on 1 side as it’s got the CF out there too. Unless I start messing with joking earths and lives etc.
Yes, putting the camera under the cockpit canopy makes no sense to me either...Nice rig for some relaxed, prolonged flights...Don't you have a suitable slope somewhere in Ireland?....🤔😳😀🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I think the view would be too blurry as the clear part is a bit crap to look through. Yes I need to find a good spot now for soaring 😎 I’m sure there are plenty of spots, it’s just finding one I can easily park at 😆
I bought this para motor thing from hobbyking. Took like a day to figure out how to get it to launch but it's freakin hilarious with fpv in it you can flair and do these weird stall turns, so much fun You should give that thing a shot next it's fun
Very nicely done. Great location for pan. The view looks almost like from a real full-scale ASW20. Hope you get to spend an afternoon catching thermals, or a location with a nice ridge to soar. I assume you've set up telemetry in your transmitter, so have an audio vario.
Yes I need to find a good location now to soar and stay up for a while 👌🏻😎 I don’t have telemetry on the tx, I have a visual vario on the osd but audio would be a lot better so I’ll consider that! Cheers
Nice video Adam. I got mine a few weeks ago. Mine came with a foam block similar to the one that holds the wheel. But this block fits between the wing and upper body near the spars. Not sure what it does but I put my GPS sensor in it. Fits nicely and doesn't move. I have the Matek F765 running INAV 4. Remove the wheel barrel and added 3d printer upper and lower decks. Using 3300 4s. Trying second flight tomorrow. I had some problems the first flight. Fingers cross. The only thing this plane I don't like is it is very delicate.
Sounds like a nice build, hopefully you sort the problems. It’s definitely not going to be the most durable plane in a crash and not suitable for really high speed dives etc.
Absolutely fantastic flight! I am actually very happy you have the ASW28 because I have one as well. I've had it for a few years but it hasn't been flown yet. I had intentions on putting inav on it. This video has made me want to get the ball rolling! Do you have a STL file for thar wheel cover? I will remove mine too. Great video Adam!
If the goal was max fpv airtime and the wheel and pilot were removed, what size battery do you think could be put in it. We call them house Bricks here in Oz, but this is a roomy beast.
I really don't know. But to be honest I think you need to consider the max AUW of this model. With a battery that fills the bay, I don't think it will fly well... if at all!
That looks awesome. You've also got some great locations to fly with flowing hills and green grass. Isn't it possible to stay aloft on slope lift only? I could fly my Radian for 2 hours that way.
I'm sure it's possible, I just need to get the right conditions. Even without any slope lift it stayed in the air for 35mins and most of that was unpowered gliding :) cheers
Nice flight. I have a Phoenix and it's OK but in any kind of breeze it basically flies backwards unless under power. The ASW28 seems way faster, looks like it would cut through nicely. Big fuselage too, Í can barely fit an 1800mah in my Phoenix.
Ah yeah that doesn't sound fun, the ASW28 cuts through the air well but doesn't feel very powerful under throttle on the stock pnp with 3S... but it does the job :) Once you take that wheel out there's tons of space! Thanks for watching and commenting
Something special about FPV-ing a large glider right!?? I remember those quite violent stalls from mine. Love the DJI conversion and might have to dust mine off and do the same to get it ready for the new zealand summer!
Yeah this is very well suited to HD! I wouldn’t want to fly far with it, it’s not flying low behind objects, and it’s nice to take in the clear views. Cheers
Great seeing you fly this big bird. I purchased one some time ago and it’s on my to do list. I’ve read from other users that the tail rudder/elevator requires some reinforcement with carbon bracing. Otherwise it breaks off. Any issues on your end?
I’ve probably got about 25/30 flights on this now and never had an issue. Seems fine to me. Are these people trying to using it for dynamic soaring or something? 😂
Awesome video. I had a ASW28 but I crashed it :( still looking for replacement wings with not much luck, I think I'll probably just buy a kit for spares 😂 Looks absolutely gorgeous with FPV and that Peanut on the back view is something else. Quick curiosity though, have you by chance also flown the 2400 Phoenix? I'm still kinda struggling to chose between them if I'm getting a replacement
Might want to have a look over your setup then as this glides quite nicely. Having external parts creating drag can drastically reduce its ability to glide. Eg antennas, cameras, pan tilt devices.
The limiting factor with this setup would probably be the DJI video as it has a hard cut off at 13km. Or the battery depending how you fly it or what the conditions are.
Haha thanks David 😁 The pepperbox videos were more popular than I ever expected them to be! Just a shame you can't get the diversity demon any more as people ask me about them all the time 👀

The low passes sounded so 😎
Yes it sounds awesome! Such a cool noise considering it’s nothing electronic, just the sound of the plane shooting through the air 😎
_Fine!_ I'll be the one to say it...
ahem.
That wheel gap is perfect. You have made the world a better place.
Thanks :) although I wasn't the person to do this originally so I can't take credit for that haha. But I thought it was good to inform people that it's the best mod for this plane! Thanks for watching

The pan servo in the pilots head is is a very clever solution to FPV, Nice job..
Thanks :) I like to avoid unnecessary 3D design and printing where possible.
Very interesting video, keep making them!!
Thanks, will do!
Really good work!
Thanks 😁
Us glider pilots use the multiplex greeny 6 pin connectors for the wings. Makes fitting wings so much easier
Yes I probably should have used them too, I use them on other models. I think I had a reason at the time but can’t remember it now 😂
I have just bought this glider, and I'm currently in the middle of building it... and adding FPV (O3) (non-pan/tilt). I just wanted to say thanks for the stl files.

Bellissimo video
@@marcidannafpv thanks 🙏🏻

I think I’ve seen that before! Looks like it could be a handful to fly 😂😅
Very nicely done. Great location for pan. The view looks almost like from a real full-scale ASW20. Hope you get to spend an afternoon catching thermals, or a location with a nice ridge to soar. I assume you've set up telemetry in your transmitter, so have an audio vario.

Foam block is for Gps mounting, you guessed correct.
Beautyfull flight
Thanks 🙏🏻 😁
professional video-work~buddy~ 🤙
Thanks I appreciate it 😁
What's your remote range?

Cheers mate 😁 yeah get it flying, it’s a relaxing flight. Yes I’ve linked all the 3D parts in the vid description 👌🏻

Nice video Adam! I got a old ASW28 HK version. Maybe I rebuild it to a digital DJI FPV plane. Thanks.
It’s perfect for DJI as it flies high and not too far from home. And when you’re relaxing it’s nice to have the views in HD 😎
damn! what a car!!!!
Thanks :D

Haha yeah I’ve stalled it a few times but it just recovers itself 😆 this plane is ideal for DJI and perfect for the New Zealand scenery 😎😎
With the HD FPV, that must be amazing. I'd love to thermal all afternoon.
Yeah this is very well suited to HD! I wouldn’t want to fly far with it, it’s not flying low behind objects, and it’s nice to take in the clear views. Cheers
What is, or what do you think is the max range of a tx/rx today? I'm think of this exact model with a fpv set up.
Many people have been 100Km +

@@AdamGdoesFPV ha…I recall it was more in the landings. The impact sometimes knocked out our tail section. Something about poor glue job from volantex

Hey, thanks for watching and for the comment. I've never flown the P 2400 so unfortunately can't help you there. Cheers
I have the same airplane it's really bad at gliding, the wing doesn't seem efficient.
Might want to have a look over your setup then as this glides quite nicely. Having external parts creating drag can drastically reduce its ability to glide. Eg antennas, cameras, pan tilt devices.
Cual es su velocidad máxima de vuelo
Sorry I've no idea, but I'd guess 100-120kmph in a dive.
What is the range full fpv with this build?
The limiting factor with this setup would probably be the DJI video as it has a hard cut off at 13km. Or the battery depending how you fly it or what the conditions are.
You accent is so "proper".
Much love.
Still love your pepperbox videos....
