When reassembling the padlock, it's a very good idea to apply Loctite 272 to the bolt's threads inside the padlock to eliminate the chance of being able to unscrew the nut next to the keyway using pliers.
The rubber weather guard is the achilles heel of this lock, it raises the nut just enough to get pliers on it. The factory thread lock is not enough to hold against this attack. Loctite 272 might be a little overkill but it would absolutely stop this attack. I use Vibra-tite 125 Gel, it's a medium strength thread locker but the gel is more gap filling and holds very well. This lock is the toughest lock against physical attacks I've ever seen in the American 700 clones and beefing up the core along with loctite seal the deal. Also Master makes a core that uses the American A1045 keyway which is a more restrictive keyway and it's 6 pins, I found it on mrlock.com # W700A Pro Series. Thanks for the video.
A piece of 4mm stainless steel with bolts through from both shackle holes (bored out with a carbide bit) makes a more secure solution. I fitted a Federal 6 pin steel / spooled core to mine. It also adds to the drill protection in the Federal core.
I can't believe how quickly you picked that lock. That is ridiculous! Thank you very much for putting this video together! This has helped me immensely! Looking forward to the next video!
Glad you enjoyed it! You're welcome. Be sure to look over my lock related video playlist below and share. Thanks ua-cam.com/play/PLQ6IOhUBblU1vY1JwQCHE-4_VscJ0XTVv.html
Hi Doug. Sorry for the late view and comment. Great job showing just how easy it is for most locks to be picked. Best way to stop crooks. Deep hole, Trap, Bullet . Or like a fellow I worked with, kept getting his gas stolen. He glued single edge razor blades around the fuel cap. Tracked the blood to his cousins house. He did it at work before he went home for the weekend and showed me the blood on Monday. He was lucky he didn't go to jail for doing it. Crooks these days have more rights than working folks.
Save yourself the hassle with repinning and rekeying it. Just open up a LOTO padlock and use it’s core in the 930. It will be pinned with security pins and populate all 6 pins. Also file down the “ears” of the retaining nut so it will sit flush to the body, getting rid of the weather seal gap. And grind or file the head of the nut so that it’s more domed shape and hard to grab with pliers. LPL made a video of how easy it is to rip the weather seal off, grab the prominent retaining nut with a vise grip, and shearing off the ears by spinning the nut out of the body, dropping the guts out.
No hassle at all, the idea was very good and lock is now highly pick resistant. As for the weatherproof seal, mine has been removed and there's now zero chance of grabbing that rounded nut. Thanks for watching!
i love how master locks..and padlocks in general..give off the illusion of heavy duty metal shackles and bodies, but the core is so shitty and small and vulnerable
Will this modification prevent comb picking and pushing the pins above the shear line? If not, do you have a video on a comb picking prevention modification? Great videos btw. Love it.
That would be one hell of a long key! Be sure to look over my "Locksmith & Bypass Tools" video playlist below, and share my channel with many others. Thanks! ua-cam.com/video/6JmUnO1XYOk/v-deo.html
I would like to say that I just bought one of these and tried to do it myself, now there is no retaining ring this time which prevents you from pushing out the core. In addition if you turn the key all the way while pushing all the pins will shoot out with there little holders leaving you with 10 tiny pieces that vary in size. Next you will try to fix it and in the process ruin the internal springs b/c there is nothing covering them as you turn the key to hold the pins back in making it unusable. Lastly you will go to home depot and say it doesn't work, get a refund, and never mess with locks again. Nevertheless take my upvote! That was a stressful experience

ok, so I got into picking locks when my go-kart buddy did back in the early 90's (ya im old, so what ya got? lol) anyway, I had one of these locks and NEVER picked it, I wasn't that good, but never could get it, so I am excited to see this since I have some valuable stuff in storage and want to upgrade because I know how easy it is to pick locks, most are not secure at all, anyway, ill shut up and watch this video, thanks in advanced ;-)
Masterlock hmm.. let's make this core and bible sized and drilled for 6 pins but we will only put in 5 standard pins and call it a grade 10 😂.. they are funny aren't they.

I agree, thanks to scumbag attorneys, criminals have more rights than the people they targeted. Thanks for watching!
Very well done my friend, also thanks for the link to save on the locksmith supplies.
Thank you, and you're welcome! Be sure to share.

Add more security pins. Replace the existing top pins for even more security. Thanks for watching!
Pretty cool, I want 10 PIN LOCK ! LOL

Haha, takes me back to when I first started playing with locks. Don't give up, practice makes perfect and now you know what not to do.
THIS IS WHY I NEVER REMOVE CORES BECAUSE OF NO RETAINER PINS
very interesting

Why make it longer? Just get a pin the length of the ramp on the tip of your key.
You could do that, and it would work, but it's not the right way to do it, or the way a locksmith would do it. Thanks for watching!
Master Lock should be renamed to Tamper Lock!!
The one in this video, with a few simple mods, is a good lock for the money. Thanks for watching!
I would say that Master’s security rating is a joke and you just made it a 6, maybe a 7 on a realistic security rating
Yes, Master's security rating scale is a joke, but I had to base what I did on their 1 to 10 rating scale. :-) Thanks for watching!
You guys are confusing their 10 rating with your 10 rating. You see a 10 as the best their coud be, but they see a 10 as the best they make.
