With all those fancy mechanical, turbos and cooling piping gismos this diesel project build will end up much more expensive and way more slower than an ioniq 5N..

@@boostedzjadventurevlogs4121 All 2 stroke Detroit Diesels are supercharged (they need a blower to run), and some also have turbos, and some of those have bypass blowers like this setup where the turbo boost can bypass the supercharger once it becomes a restriction.

If you use a roots style blower like an eaton instead of a twin screw like the KB, you can switch them around and have the turbo feed the blower like on an old 8-92, it's actually more efficient to do it like that since the blower will then compound the air it'd being fed.

This is some impressive craftsmanship. I don't know if it's the same way, but reminds me of the way old aircraft engines had to run. I think they were more of gearing than twin boosted if someone wants to correct me. Still beautiful regardless. Would drool over this if i saw it at a car show.
This is art. This is beauty. Is is engineering. Crazy that this small diesel engine can run up to 7k rpm. No wonder it's nicknamed "the German diesel 2JZ".
@@someguy4576 They sound horrible , are very often tuned to blow tonnes of unnecessary soot and generally make SFA power for how much noise they make, like I said though this definitely appears to be an exception.
@@JshDav I quite love how they sound TBH, especially the OM606/OM605. The noise and tune are up to the individual owner/tuner, the same thing can be said for a poorly tuned/muffled petrol engine. But to each their own of course, I love both.
I do enjoy the thought and and engineering begind twin charging, but ive never seen it to be all that efficient, properly sized turbos on a diesel is all you need. But its still cool to witness all the piping and especially the switch box.
Would love to see a civilian sized road going diesel (or petrol) engine that employs a hybrid Turbo/Centrifugal Supercharger that works like the ElectroMotiveDiesel design where you're spooling the Turbo via crank driven boost at low loads, with an overrunning clutch between the crank and the turbo, then once the fire 🔥 really lights off, and exhaust pressure surpasses the rpms of the crank, allowing the turbo to freely outspin the crank.
put the one way flap on the charge side of the turbo and put the charge pipes in parallel with one another, this way they both provide their own volume of air and work together rather than one overtakeing the other.
