Bad... But Good? X-Five LEGION from Sig Sawyay

- This pistol almost got a massive flame job of a review based on the conglomerate of accessories impeding a positive overall experience of a very well built pistol.
Sig Sauer needs to understand that the Devil is in the Details. If you are going to include a bunch of awesome accessories (or make aftermarket ones) then you better spend the extra time and effort. Otherwise it takes a good gun and makes it a dumpster fire. Death by poorly tested accessories almost killed this review of a decent "out of the box ready" Competition pistol.
I can NOT agree with this gentleman. This gun is AMAZING!!! It’s heavy (I like), it’s solid, it’s frickin super smooth, and it shoots AMAZING!!! I sit and watch TV and just hold it, rack it, etc... it’s that heavy, smooth operator, piece of metal a MAN can’t put down. It’s like a MERCEDES BENZ car door! It’s heavy, smooth, and shuts PERFECT every time!!?
This gun has become my EDC, OPEN CARRY!
I own the LEGION. I have a Trijicon RMR and SRO. They BOTH have the same footprint. So I trade them out when I wanna change it up. RMR is indestructible and SRO is superior in sight window.
I also bought 21 round extended mags. The STOCK mags sit flush and is hard to reload. Solved that problem.
I am a BIG man and have BIG hands... this gun is HEAVY and I LOVE that! I’ll agree that the mag well flexes. I pulled the screw and just added some lock tight and turned the screw down a little more! Problem solved.
Trigger is GREAT! It’s not a CZ TSO (Tactical Sport Orange) in which I also own! But it’s fuckin great for $950!!!
was going to get one for a duty style gun and maybe winter conceal carry but everyone says its too heavy to carry for an extended amount of time. How does it feel to carry it all day?
I love my X-Five Legion, I have shot great groups from day one. Not a single issue, nothing I would change about this gun
Steve Brown exactly this guy sounds like he works for H&K
The X5 legion trigger is a lot better than the X5, but I installed a Grayguns competition kit in the X5 and that's what I shoot in the legion now(legion trigger 3.56lbs average, Grayguns trigger 2.5lbs). Sig stands behind the optics, I had a problem with a romeo 1 last March and they fixed it and had it back to me in a week. I put over 7K rounds without a problem before I got a romeo 1pro for my legion and I have over 4k without a problem on that one . The LCI cut in the barrel sucks, but Sig sent a new barrel when I contacted them, so at least they stand behind the products. I can't comment on the base pads because I changed them out for Taran tactical +2 and +5 pads, because I only use those pistols for competition.
My X5 Legion is a tack driver, I added a tungsten guide rod for even more front loaded weight. Shoots little bit flatter with that guide rod, I haven't had any issues. I use a Delta Point Pro on it and seems to be holding up fine even after over 5,000 rounds.
Do you have any issues with gas hitting the delta point?
Zero problems with mine. Only gripe is that I’m hesitant to add an rmr due to the gas spewing loaded chamber indicator. Poorly thought out by Sig for a competition gun that otherwise works very well with an optic.
Brett Heiner I just got mine in today and it doesn’t have the loaded champer indicator 🙌
Brett Heiner bro maybe I’m just new to it but I don’t like my red dot on pistols. I shoot way better iron sights. Maybe I need some practice.
Yea looks like the newest barrels do not have the loaded chamber cut.
I keep not wanting to be like the cool kids....but after being a die-hard M&P "fanboy" and milling the slides on three 5" M2.0's I finally decided to go with a purpose built CO set up and bought an X Five Legion, for the price I feel there is plenty of value and I am very happy with it! If I didn't compete and wanted a handgun for defensive purposes only, I probably would have stuck with my M&P and Glock
Great comment! I’m an M&P fanboy too, and I own 10 of them in every caliber, some threaded, all Apex trigger upgraded, and some have red dots. I absolutely LOVE them and think they are superior to Glock! Now I want one heavy, sweet shooter that I can be faster and more accurate with. I think I’m buying this gun tomorrow.
I legit almost pissed myself with that ‘Johnson!’ clip
One of the best guns I have ever bought. I have shot mine in several combat matches, I have thrown my Mags all over the place on concrete floors and have had zero issues.. couldn’t tell you about optics because I’m an adult and don’t put optics on my Handguns... :)
That’s something poor people say 😂
@@TaxationIsTheft69420 skilled*
I used to be stubborn too. I still am I guess, but I gave in to optics on a pistol. They will increase your speed. Accuracy is up to the shooter regardless. Doesn't matter if you put the dot on target if you can't shoot straight to begin with. They take some time to get used to, but pay dividends on shot times. My old excuses were that batteries die and electronics break. These things have anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000 hours of battery life. I know, crazy. Leave it on all year. Change batteries on your birthday. Also you can still see your irons through the viewing window if you set it up right. (Co-witness. I actually set the red dot by lining up my sights and adjusting dot to sit right on top.
Donnie Wahlberg reviews guns?
Don't know if anybody knows but, I think SIG updated the top port. Mine doesn't have the top port that lets gas out. Its all closed off. Mine has a port on the side.
Yes.
Bought my first 320 3 weeks ago. Bought my second 2 weeks ago. Haha. The second was a Legion and i absolutely love it. I have run countless training stages over the last 2 weeks, and have also noticed the base plates dislodging. No bueno. But otherwise i have no complaints about the pistol. Running an fde DPP. Not crazy pleased with the DPP…but I will say this….it has much clearer glass than my RM06 SOCOM RMR, 507C, RomeoZero Pro, and og Docter Optic. Still getting used to how tall the optic is, too.
Best Legion are P226 & P229 SAO hands down!
Perhaps but the Best X5 is the P226 X5 competition.
Agreed. Got 229 rxp sao
The only thing I do not like about the Legion, or actually two things is A) The slide on the Legion has more tolerance than the original, thus barrel does not lock up as tight. Sig claims 5 points of lock up points and they found it not to be any less accurate. Hmmm....B) The stock trigger even with an aftermarket will not get rid of the creep which is not good
Also I have had my Romeo zero on my XL forever it’s works great and has never lost zero. Sig mags are excellent you must have some lemon base pads
Lol I don’t understand, it’s an amazingly accurate and easy gun to shoot. The base plate wasn’t on right and I don’t think you not zeroing your red dot has anything to do with the pistol
I would love to see a video(s) on guns you "know" you'll hate. You know Hi points, springfields, PSA's stuff like that. Budget wouldn't be an issue.
That’s actually not a bad idea lol
“Stick your……. Clicker finger”
Me- “DIHK!!!!”
I was really debating this for my 1st sig. Now looking at the older, 226 Legion-
Edit- Feb 2020: Now have over 800 rds through the 226 legion sao! I DO NOT regret getting this pistol! Trigger is amazing and action is very smooth. Accuracy is superb. This is a proven combat pistol and that's what I wanted for. It is mainly a range toy but also for home defense. If I wanted a competition pistol I would have bought one of those. I highly recommend the 226 legion. Haven't shot the new one yet...
watch some other vids. 99% are all positive on the x5 legion
I own both, prefer the 226 legion... best gun I own.
@@brandonlefebvre9365 got approximately 400rds through it now and amazed at this pistol! So glad I went with this tried'n true pistol!
@@tntshuffle-9799 nice!!!!! I love it as well.
Its really a pretty good gun. Is it a high end CZ? no, but for the price point, its pretty smooth and the trigger is nice out of the box and amazing after being broke in. The most hate I've seen for this gun comes from usually the people that don't get people want a mid-priced quality gun and usually don't get it's not for defensive purposes and not everyone has $1500 or more to drop on a "racing pistol". Best bet? find someone and try it out for yourself before you buy.
Only Sig i bought.
Except for concealment P365 & P365 XL
I really wanted one of these but I decided to go with Rock island 22tcm/9mm high capacity combo. You shiuld do a review on it. It was a little less than the legion. I have had zero issues.
I shot one not too long ago and loved it! I plan to get The DH3 very soon. Another awesome pistol.
When you said : Jack made me do this .....
Cracking 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just stumbled across your channel.
Nice review. It isn't perfect. But it's a GREAT piece.
Accurate. Soft to shoot. Fast (for a striker).
i love my legion, especially the trigger
Is it accurate ? How soft the trigger ?
“It’s not pro anything, except pro garbage” Ten thousands likes for telling it strait! The penny pinchers are ruining Sig!
It's an outstanding gun. No matter what anyone says
@@tommyroberts867 they were talking about the romeo pro piece of shit optic not the gun
Swap the factory bases with TTI or Springer precision. I think GGI is doing hard use bases too.
Weird how I haven’t had an issue with sig firearms or red dots ever.
i'm doing my part - always recommend you to the folks i work with at my lgs
Really diggin the gear and the videos. Gonna hopefully be doing some videos soon. If you are ever in SAN DIEGO. please come to Iron Sights Indoor Range.
I carry a p229 .40 with a TLR-8G. She’s a hefty girl but lights where she points.
Just grabbed one of these 2 days ago.
FYI, perhaps a running change, but there’s no notch in the top of the barrel for viewing the case rim on mine.
Gun shoots great. Will add a DPP soon.
fiveoboy01 yup I got mine today no loaded chamber indicator 🙌
@@danielbyerly8269 Cool. Enjoy shooting it, I already have 2700 rounds through mine and loving it...
Awesome review, I would love to see one on the Sig MCX Virtus Patrol 5.56
James Lasecki I failed to see any amazing and notable differences between a majority of the MCX line except for the initial Contract rifle
@@FourGuysGuns I was looking into getting the Sig 365 XL now I'm questioning that purchase. I'm glad you guys run honest and real reviews, been a fan for a long time back when you used to shoot outside.
James Lasecki I would never encourage anyone to take my experience as gospel. I actually like the size of the 365 XL but my issue with most sig polymer guns is their polymer blend. It’s a personal preference and not a mark of their quality or durability.
Pros and Cons? You opening remarks were so scathing that they seemed to mortally wound this gun. Then you upped your game and provided life saving resuscitation. Ride or die? Legendary bruh. 👍😋
I can see at like 10:30, that a bunch of gas/junk is all over the lens of the optic.... that's why I didn't buy this pistol.
Is that not any gun that has a light that is beyond the barrel?
So...clean it? Tf?
I loved the Beto part at the end ...
Busted out laughing from the Beto “Hell yes” add-ins!!! Nice review! I think I’m going to get rid of my original X5 for this. Thought about just buying grip module but then I’m still stuck with original trigger which I do not like.
Bruh that button up is badass
Allskillnoluck.com
Just for fun, can you do a review on the AKV from PSA?
Your friend in OREGON 🤠
they took up most Red Wood variants ... I got fukin pissed.. I'll wait next time with ma wallet
Always enjoy your videos brother, thanks!
It’s Sig Sauer, if you can’t get the name right how can I trust your review?
That was good. Thank you. I'm sorry I didn't catch it when it was first put out.
Haven't had any of the problems you're going through......then again....I'm also not using a red dot. Just watching you aim it you could see how far you were dipping it to get the dot on.
Billy Magada yeah. It just zonked out. Every sig optic I’ve used has failed the same way. The wind age or elevation just breaks and pins at the end of its stop. Internal breakage.
Great intro beat! Very unique, original and smoothe.
tarren tactical sells some really cool base plates for the sig mags...i want this gun but id ditch the flared mag well and get some sick od green base plates for the mags
Love mine so far dropping all metal mag's on concrete probably isn't a good idea. And don't there optics have warranties?
Yea I’ll take a Heavy Gun on duty any day all I need one shot and it’s over I love my x5 legion I have had no problems with mine
I'd like to see you look at some CZ's. Shadow 2 or TSO, or hold out for the DWX.
I was going to get this.. but what is your favorite handgun atm?
What mods would you do to make this a top knotch gun in your opinion. Could you do a video on that? Very interested to see what else could improve this. I love modifying glocks but I want to stretch my experience a little farther so I was very interested in the price point and shooting ability of this gun.Love yalls content, Big howdy from Texas!
Really like my X-five legion, great video and great sense of humor, I'm in tears!! LOL
Operator error is now guns fault
Helpful. Insightful. Thanks!
a thousand rounds and you drop each mag 55 times? 1000 rounds is 58,82 mags (17r) even less when you have 21r. or did i miss something?
Ohhhh yeah, “it fits in THE BOX”. And yes, you are correctly ‘GHOSTING the trigger’ but you didn’t ask us to ‘do it with you’!! #FAIL
Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum 😂😂😂
Like Garand Thumb?
Isn’t it obvious
I'm guessing you like black rifle coffee? Shirt makes me think so 🤔 lol awesome vid
The frame can be had for under $100 USD
I will stick with my q5 match , still king of striker fire trigger out of the box. Not in the fire dumpster.
How soft the trigger pull?
@@gutadin5 5lb pull but smooth if your into resets instant, double taps are very fast.
I used to agree with you but the P320 surpassed them.
Legion is far better
Mine keeps on jamming on 12lbs and 115gr bullets
Though there is minimal take up that’s is a ton of creep before the break...not impressed but 320 triggers have always been bad
Compared to what?
Pretty sure you hate sig sauer lol...
Had no problems with my legion.
Most people don't unless they've fired high end pistols. I like mine a lot. That trigger makes me giddy.
I’d like to see one on the FN 509 Tactical!!!!
I just bought a Sig 320 xc9 and I love the way it feels in the hand. I haven't got to shoot it yet but I can't wait. And I hope it doesn't let me down like my P320 in 45. The guide rod spring shot right out of the front of my gun in the middle of shooting. To say the least I was pretty pissed off.
How about the PX4 compact carry with NP3 and stippled grip from LTT
Chevyrunner88 if it wasn’t so damn ugly
Please review the Wilson combat 320
I'm really really confused about the trigger. I love this gun (the look, the specs, etc.) but the Trigger was a Katastrophe to me. I shot my mates P320 X Five Legion several times on the range but the trigger is like: "Pull, 1st Wall, pull pull pull pull pull Ohhh now I shoot." and that is a problem to me. I really don't like that. And now in your video it looks like yours has 0 of this travel after the first wall...but all SIGs at our Gun Show had the same "problem"...thats the only thing that makes me not buying it actually.
I disagree with this review. My legion is phenomenal! Key holing in large groups and the quality is 10/10. Been my patrol carry for over a year and I wouldn’t trust anything else besides my backup P365
Idk about you guys but I love my x5 legion
Solid gun, but as with a lot of Sig products in the last few years - Rushed to market, not refined. Is Sig becoming Apple? Proprietary everything? Sig optics/ DPP only? Eeesh. RMR is still king, Holosun is on their tail but still a distant 2nd.
He has a point concerning red dots.
The m17 is pretty great
Are you saying that the romeo 1 pro sights are crap?
Will you guys do the CZ P01? Pretty please 😀
Wow...this is what Sig is selling for $1000???I'm astounded by the inequality...considering Sig is considered top notch
Inequality…🤔 like it identifies as a compact, but it’s too big to fool anyone?
I own one its ok at best... Similar to a Glock 34 or Canik steel frame nothing to write home about. It doesn't compare to my CZTSO or my comp tanfoglios. mine pulls a 3.4 pound trigger break but regardless it's still a striker fired pistol and feels like it barely an entry-level poor mans comp gun it doesn't shoot bad but for the money I didn't expect much more
Have you have any significant issues with the gas porting up to the front of the optic? I was wondering if it clouds up quickly becomes hard to see out of?
Thanks for all the awesome videos!
Subie1337 clouding yes on the Romeo. I only saw damage third hand to the Delta Point. Was not going to try myself.
They don't have the loaded chamber indicator on this gun anymore. I think they made some changes over the 2 years it has been out. I just got one and it doesn't have loaded chamber AND.. even though I can't find it anywhere, once I removed the factory sight it appears they have some extra threaded spots for other optics other than delta point pro or romeo 1 and it made me confused... makes me think they didn't update the information hoping people would just buy a romeo 1 and call it a day?
@@pizzadave8065 any idea if it would now fit an RMR without an adapter plate?
WOW... he does look like Donnie Wahlberg!!
That magwell will begin to wiggle over time noticeably.... mine is back at Sig getting fixed because of this
Icarus Flight that’s disappointing.
@@FourGuysGuns It didn't break the bank, but my RIA Tac Ultra (2011 style) is Rock solid (no pun) and has about 2k more rounds through it. Only the hand grip screws backed out of that, loc tight red and haven't had a problem since. I'm a little disappointed by sig tbh.
"Don't take the piss, Boris!"
You'll be hearing from Garand Thumb's lawyer! :-P
As far as "what I want to see next," I would love to see your take on the ZEV OZ9 or OZ9C. It's kinda in the same vein as this gun (competition and general shooting), though it's a bit more expensive.
Do the Wilson P320
Not crazy about the frame and beaver tail. Not one of their best designs imo
Try a Sig Sauer p226 x6 Supermatch
Don't agree, I own one myself and it's awesome.
I can pound half inch groups or smaller with mine all day long at 25 yards. Be happy to prove it.
You don’t like the gun because you’re a horrible shot?
Where are the other 3 guys?
One doesn’t like to be on camera and the other two have gone their own way
“Sorry I’m sick” lol
This is an outstanding gun.
x5 legion is insanely good, shoots better than some 2k dollar handguns I own
I guess you can wring out the IWI Masada next...If it's good enough, I'll accept it as an apology for the USS Liberty..
Federalist46 IWI and I do not get along.
Alright bro, SUBSCRIBED! Great content.
So far so good for me. No issues.
This guy don’t know wtf he’s talking about. And by the way, that metal thing inside the palm area, it’s called the slug and it’s not made of tungsten, only the frame is infused with tungsten powder.
Like listening to Pauly Shore review a pistol.
Can’t get past the P320 bore axis being like a foot over your hand!
Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum I think a lot of people put too much concern over bore axis. A well weighted slide and recoil spring do way more than people give them credit for. Although lower is better lol
FourGuysGuns yeah I completely understand and get that, but the P320 is just so damn high when I hold the gun and fire it, it just doesn’t feel right. Now if I shot 1000 rounds straight I’m sure I’d get more used to it, but after a couple mags I was done 😂
Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum the heart wants what the heart wants.
You can send it back to sig and get a barrel without the port
snowman03gt so I hear... so why send it out as such in the first place though? Just send it without the port as factory
If you use it with the optic. Otherwise, they won’t.
It’s my fav pistol. I have no complaints
Can't wait for mines to ship
Lol... I really love your reviews! Odd request, would you review xde? I want a hammer fired carry, and that seems to be the smallest
Alex Ma why do you want a hammer fired carry? I don’t care, just curious if it’s because it’s the best gun you shoot from concealment, one handed etc... or because someone put a weird thought in your head.
@@FourGuysGuns possibly weird thought. I carry p365, and I like it. Even do idpa with it so I get comfortable and better at it. But I just can't get myself to carry it appendix... I want to carry appendix... and felt hammer fired would provide a bit more comfort for my family jewels.
@@FourGuysGuns strike one in appendix = unintended gender transition
Alex Ma but they both actuate the same way... by the trigger...
@@FourGuysGuns that hair of mental/visual security of decocked hammer would reduce that feeling of dangle berries over blender. Ps. I got the p365 after seeing your review. Pss. New to gun world(1 1/2 year), realized I can not protect my family after having a child.
Subscribing cuz u mentioned flannel daddy 👍👍👍👍👍
Try the 21 rounders.
Bahahaha!! Funny and entertaining video. These are the reviews I like to see opposed to the unrealistic jar headed host videos that are out there. Just my take and opinion.
