I mean, this is actually a very calm arrest. Everyone let each other talk and the guy, without too much fuss, was put in cuffs. Overall very calm.

Rational cop for sure. Military training is always good. They tend to not overreact or get trigger happy and unnecessarily shoot someone.
In my opinion the suspect was pretty chill too. He didn't yell, he just lets the officer talk and cooperates.
Hope he will get his life together though.

Deputy Simmons seems like the type of cop that loves coming to work and helping people out, every single day.

If the gun went off when you handed it to someone else, that means it wasn’t on safe, round in the chamber with your finger on the trigger. Not believable imo. Cop was right. Dude was drinking and had a gun.
Jeremy S most pistols don’t have safeties
You would think an X Ranger would know how to handle a firearm....
@@cooperdailey3119 True, but those pistols that don't usually have a some kind of safety integrated into the trigger mechanism; they're hard to discharge accidentally, so that would prove intent.
Cops do it all the time. Drunk and carrying a gun, on duty or off. That is like saying you shouldn't carry a pocket knife if you are drunk because you might pull it out and stab someone. So if you are drinking you shouldn't have a knife and if you say yes it shows me you must lack control over yourself. I didn't see, (you have the right to bare arms except when you are drinking.) I'm lucky, I don't drink.
He could’ve easily unloaded it by taking the mag out and pulling the slide back once. Or could’ve easily put the safety on.

@@corionh4775 yeah on a similiar note something like that happened with a SEAL. Look up Gene Clayton Jr. Alcohol and guns not a good mix
I believe him, that he was a ranger. And that's what makes his explanation nonsense. I.e., the discharge wasn't accidental, because he knows exactly what firearms safety requires. It's not only intellectual knowledge for him, but muscle memory, so that he really went out of his way to fire that gun. That's my suspicion.

That dude was huge. Did he really feel it was necessary to have a gun out during an argument with his wife?

Yeah, it means that, somewhere in his head, thoughts were going in a bad direction. Better that he be in jail overnight and get a judge tell him that he's been dumb the next morning. A glass of cold water thrown into his face to tell him that there's no good outcome to where he's letting this dispute go.
Big dudes often have low self-esteem. When you get bigger you start to compare yourself to even bigger dudes. And there's ALWAYS a bigger dude. Btw just to be clear, I'm not talking about penises here.

"I'm an ex-ranger. Is she dead?" That's where things went irreversibly bad for that guy. The casual way he said that tells you that he was thinking about it and makes the 'accidental discharge' story a bit less believable.
My gut feeling was that it was intended as intimidation.
No your not correct. He was saying, "I'm highly trained in killing, if I wanted to harm her she would be dead, not filing a charge. The charge he got was b's. But he should have been charges for warping posession under the influence. Nothing more tho.
Absolutely... any woman who has experience with aggressive men who abuse alcohol know how predictably unpredictable they get & especially when kids are nearby. All part of intimidation.

I don't like how the husband and his friend downplayed the gun and the threats to kill the boyfriend. Too many times in these situations the friends and family try to protect the aggressor from consequences. The wife said its not the first incident of violence from him. WELL DONE OFFICERS, VERY NICE AND CALM ARREST, THAT'S VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CIVILIZED WAY TO GO!
this officer was a ranger? oo id like to hear about that
Shouldn’t have been arrested, IMO. Should have been separated, and both written a citation and both should have to show up to court. Cops take the woman’s side most of the time, shameful.
Both? What would you write the citation on the VICTIM for ? He intimidated her with a firearm , and made CREDIBLE threats that he was going to kill her lover? You must be 12. This had nothing to do with gender, it was pure negligence and emotion. The fact that you’re victim blaming shows that you’re part of the problem.
Yeah it's a very great area with domestic violence. My friend got stabbed at his house, by his ex, he slapped her to get her away...and he was the one who went to jail. The charges were dropped and she was charged with attempted 1st degree manslaughter, but he shouldn't have even been charged in the first place.

Tyler Rodgers I agree the police usually take the women’s side, however here, you can tell he was a bit unruley before the officer showed up and regardless of that, a firearm was still discharged irresponsibly near children due to an argument While he was Intoxicated. He had no reason to show up and cause a scene. Should’ve been charged with domestic and reckless discharge of a firearm
How does a 6'2 dude need a gun when pulling up to his estranged wifes house? He clearly was there to be a threat to her and have her feeling intimidated by his demeanor. Press them charges girl! Even said it herself he blocked her from leaving and this wasn't the first time. Smh

Yea this is pretty cut and dry. There was an arguement, gun was present, you have been drinking, you had it on you, it went off by accident or on purpose its considered violence. You should know better to have a gun on you while your drinking and arguement. It's never mixed well
