I recently took the plunge and installed @dakboard after reading about it in an article. It is VERY easy to setup and as long as you have the kit its very cheap. If you need to purchase extra bits to do the job then you may need to consider if its worth it for you, but if you have. Spare Fire TV stick and TV, then you can create what I have in the video.
The setup procedure for the Fire TV is simple. Add a device on your DAKboard dashboard and get a code, enter this code into your fire TV browser. Done. EASY!!!

If you ever do take the bulldog out you’re left with a big hole. To fix this I use the 10cm mesh wall repair kit off Amazon. Works a treat 👍🏻

How can I put a fire stick vertically in the image of the entire system?
Can you use this to teach live? Eg opening a presentation software on it, controlling the presentation with your phone or a remote and having it live streamed or presented in front of an audience

Hi there, thank you, you can use chromecast although I haven’t used it that way yet. also you can do pretty much everything for free but only for the first 30 days then if you use it enough pay $5/m. I used the 30 days to see if I got value out of it.

We have it set up for the free account but we can’t find the option to rotate the screen? Do you have a paid account to do that?

how is this different from simply having a spare laptop or pc connected to a screen ? woth a customized desktop ?

Yes. DakBoard is just an app within the OS

Software that you configure. Add elements such as calendar, weather, pics etc. That software can be displayed on a TV

Can you get this in touchscreen?
This is an awesome setup. One question, if you have to restart the firestick, do you have to re-open the browser and put in the dakboard url each time?
Hi, You do need to restart the browser but DAKboard comes up automatically (if that was the last thing you used in the browser). What I’ve done is move the browser to the first slot so it’s dead easy to click and just wait for it to load.
Great thanks. I was looking at doing this with the Raspberry Pi, but because of the shortage, they are 400% overpriced currently. This looks like a good solution since I have a few extra firesticks.
One other question, did you have to do anything special for the browser to always open in full screen mode?

Hi there, I do have it on my tablet, and it's actually easier than on a fire stick. I will most likely make a video at some point on it.
@@MainCave thanks! I put on a tablet as well but only as a window from the app (I installed it via apk having a really old android version). It would be really really cool to have DakboardOS as the operating system of the device so using the hardware of the tablet like it was a raspberry
Thanks for the video. Ok, as you have both it would be good to get your opinion. Currently have a large TV in the kitchen, as well as a old Echo 10 just for cooking timers/music. We want a solution for a family calendar, would you use this on the TV to glance at a calendar, or would you say the Echo 15 is better at doing this? Does the Echo 15 let you keep it in full-screen calendar mode and can you actually see the days in a grid or do you just see numbers with dots on and have to click each day? Any help would be much appreciated (noting that Echo 15's have dropped to £199 in the UK now). Thanks again for the content.
Unfortunately there’s pros and cons for both. Sorry.
The echo frame you can have a full screen calendar but widgets does a good job and when “widgeted” you can see at least the next 4 appts in your calendars.
The echo has voice control but the daqboard has more customisation.
If I had to pick one it would probably be the echo due to the voice control.

How did you rotate the screen? In dakboard or in the tv settings?
DAKboard, there is a setting to rotate either way 👍🏻
What kind of TV are you using ? My LG screen won't flip.

How do i get the board to fit on screen? Mine is stretched no matter what resolution it is in
Hi there, couple of things to try. In your screen within the Dakboard software make sure it is set to "FIT" (above the screen to the right).
Next hit the cog top right and make sure the settings match your screen you are suing to display the DAKboard. Aspect Ratio and resolution.

Hello, what do you use to put the vertical screen on the TV?
A regular mount but rotated the clamps on the TV by 90 degrees.
