Sometimes I think it is worth having a 'little black book" and if she wanted her nails done again......well its amazing just how busy you can be.

Yup. Have an industry blackbook for those thieves who invent things to complain about so they can get free services. We get those from time to time. Once we make notes they don't get away with it again and some of our workmates add it to a local industry forum to watch out for those scammers.

Bad Carma! What goes around comes around. Happened to me a couple of times with bounce checks. I also have a home business. This evil person came, loved her nails saying they were the nicest she ever had. Bounce the check. When I called her, she apologized and said she would pay me when she came for her fill, and loved her nails so much she booked her next appointment, and at the same time, booked also for her niece. They both came 3 weeks later, I felt good cause I was going to make a lot of money that day. After I did another great job to both of the contended clients. She bounce the check again and now for both of them. I tried to reach her, she had quit her job and moved away never to be found again. She had even cheated where she work and stoled some cash. What lesson to learn? Don't take cheques from people you don't know.

I think it was shady of her to mention you by name, likely driving away potential clients. Also leaving out the fact that they were practice nails means that others will believe they were standard, full-priced nails from you.

I will say from experience that the "worst customers/clients" tend to be the discount or free-bee ones. All discount and free-bee customers see is how little they had to pay, BUT they will still have the same expectations as a regular customer/client. It's a setup and you gave great advice, based on the outcome. 👍 Charge regular price and provide the regular service blended into your practice or professional needs.

The hand model “lied by omission” and didn’t give the full story. Therefore, the people making negative comments weren’t fully informed as the why her nails looked like that. I would say, from an outsider’s perspective, that she was being deceitful and underhanded. Women don’t fight with their fists like men do. We fight with words, gossip, and snarky comments

The ex client is a liar. That's her problem. Why she did it, who knows? It's just something people have to keep in mind that not everything they read is true. =D At least these days, you have plenty of videos to show how great you are at nails, and teaching us how to do nails too!

Lovely work as always! I think that client/model expected you would redo the nails completely for free and she was pissed off you didn’t offer to do that. The picture was on purpose and she probably made the worst angle possible, if she just wanted an opinion she didn’t need to put your name on it😏 People can be so entitled! It’s like asking a hairdresser to cut your hair short and then you don’t like is so you want extensions for free😅

    • @lisakereliuk2733
      @lisakereliuk2733 2 роки тому +2

It’s not like asking to cut your hair short and then being annoyed with the length. It’s like asking an artist to add really weird colors to her painting for you, and then sharing that painting online as an example of something typical of that artist’s work. On the one hand, you shouldn’t allow anyone to leave your shop with work you’re not proud of, regardless whether they have paid you or not. But on the other hand, its really tricky to figure out how to deny a client’s request to make an adjustment that you know won’t look right.
When you use professional models and have a proper contract and clear expectations ahead of time, it’s a lot less headache than trying to figure it all out on the day you are stressed and busy.

@@abizikhali2292 Totally agree. I left the nail industry long time ago for that reason. I have a similar thing happen, but with a student. She graduated in gel, and I had never taught her anything else than basic builder gel. In 2010 it wasn't very normal here in northern European countries with other products. She then decided to open her own studio, but offered acrylics - that she hadn't certificate in. After several bad reviews online she referred to having been taught by me, didn't tell the full truth also. But you're right, we all learn from it, I certainly did too. I definitely think you would have been justified to post a reply in the forum, explaining the circumstances of why the nails looked bad - that they were from a competition practice, and that the model has insisted on this shape despite your warnings. Just a polite comment like "hey, I just want to clear up why that set ended up looking like that - it's not a set I would normally make, but after modelling for my competition practice this was the shape she insisted I make for her. I tried to explain that it wasn't the best idea, but as she insisted I gave her what she asked for".
Even if she didn't intend to misrepresent your work, the fact is that potential customers could find that picture and decide that they don't want to come to you. A reply doesn't have to be an attack on the model or anything, it can just be a clear and concise clarification so that other people who see the post can know that it's not representative of your work.

I'm so gel lol. I have been a nail tech for over 20 years and no drills were allowed to be used. We had to do ALL filling by hand and buffing the lot . It saves a tone of time but on the other hand saves the natural nail and also makes shaping long nails easier when cut short. Makes life quicker and easier but believe it or not when I went for my first jobs in a top London salon it was the first question they asked me. Not can u do nails and what's your work like. But did I use a electric file. They were a rather new thing in training colleges at the point I trained and were a massive no, no and banned from alot of salons. If y couldn't do nails without a electric file u couldn't do nails in their eyes. But as we see save sooooo much time and repetitive strain injury lol.

But, then again, if I was getting a bargain and being a model, I’d weigh that and cancel my own disappointment. Maybe that’s what she was doing? Or, maybe she wondered if it was just her that didn’t like them? Kind of like, “Is it just me, or do these nails look odd?”

Second of all, that model/exclient was being deceitful for no reason, let alone if she insisted herself on how much she loved your service in the past. I don't really understand what her intentions were doing this, but i also totally understand your position. As a nail tech, if i don't see my service being as perfect as it can get, i get disappointed myself and i don't feel well about it, but i also completely agree with your silence on the matter, and only "deciding" to say something to this woman IF she contacted you again, and not create drama in the forum or something like that. It is best that you didn't react to her post online. I don't see any way that you could say something online that would make the situation better; but would probably make it worse for your position. Hopefully she'll return to you in person so you can talk to her and give her beautiful nails she can be happy with and show off that will improve the situation. It's always best to address issues in person and worst to say anything online, even in justifiable self-defense. You did the right thing by doing nothing at the time. It's understandable how you feel and I hope you get an opportunity to clear the air with her :)

I've had a similar experience except in a different profession. What I learnt is some people talk crap online to get people "on their side" or think their "right" so they will deliberately withhold details to make them seem like the good person in those situations. Doesn't matter if you do everything right like you did, they'll always wanna spin the story. Those people are not worth your time.

Those nails are so cute! The fact the client hasn't tried to rebook makes her actions even shadier. IDK what she had against you, but she definitely did that as revenge. Any time a client leaves your chair, they are an ad for your work. I wish you had pictures of the "before" - completed competition nail - so you could have posted it as a comment to her pic.

Well I love your work you should be proud of it. There is always people that are jealous and try to make people feel bad. Don't let it get to you. Everybody use to be a beginner in there life, and we always learn more with experience. Keep up the good work.

That model misrepresented herself and the story of her nails. I can’t imagine why a person would do what she did. At any rate, it’s her loss, she had a great nail tech until she acted like that.

I think that it came out beautiful, regardless to what you started with. Some people are just miserable and cant see beyond themselves. As a hairdresser I always say that every beauty professional has their own style and client. Always reserve the right to maintain your own energy is this business and not serve everyone.

Haha I think elk is technically the correct name. But usually we are referring to a Christmas animal, that doesn't actually exist, called "reindeer."
Beautiful nails. I like the colored glitter. It was very opaque.

I can totally understand what you're talking about with this client. You did a great job you went above and beyond. Never feel bad when you told her from the beginning that it might not look good and you really don't think it's a good idea, she should have understood. Please Anastasia you did a beautiful job as always you did your very best don't ever feel bad. Besides everybody that knows your work knows that you are an amazing Tech. Thank you for sharing this video and your story. I have to tell you again you are a great Nail Tech you're very talented. You do your very best every time and if someone doesn't want to listen to you when you tell them hey this isn't going to look good that's on them.
I'm from Buffalo NY USA. Um we call it a reindeer head. 😉 I LOVE ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ this set. So pretty.
I'm going to try and do this same set later today. On my own nails. Ty 😀 for the kind words of encouragement. I think I can do this to, well fingers 🤞 I can. 😀🙂😊
