I just came back to thank you again! I am glad I made the switch to dorico AND implemented your template. I love the layout and the functionality. You saved me so many hours and a lot of frustration. Thank you:)
this looks great and as someone transitioning from Sibelius it does a lot of what I want quickly particularly the bar numbers. But I work in Uk and us A3 and A4 page sizes will resetting those elements cause issues?
@@SimonWhitesideMusic You can change to A3 and A4 without issue! All of the template elements adjust accordingly. But in the package I offer on my website, those score and part sizes are included as pre-made templates.
When I hear Edward Elgar, I immediately smile -- knowing that someone else out there appreciates his music. Anyway, thanks for the template. I haven't gotten Dorico yet but I will soon be making that switch and when I do, I will certainly make use of your Template. Thanks again
Thanks a lot Philip for this great overview video of your wonderful Film Scoring Template. Fantastic work and I can see me using this template for Symphonic work as well. Many blessings, MaxT
Thanks, Phillip! This is a fantastic template. I really appreciate how this shares your expertise and experience with all of us. Dorico has been my secret weapon prepping my scores and parts and this just takes it to the next level.
Great question, Dillon! Dorico has an amazing feature in the Library Manager where you can drag and drop another project file to import its settings. The same can be done with my template. What you’re looking for should be under Library < Library Manager.
@@PhillipArthurSimmons, thank you! You have helped me so much with my studies at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe. Really quick, is switching from Sibelius to Dorico pretty seamless? I heard there were a few bugs about the time signatures when one has to change them (say, from 4/4, changing to 3/4 because of an edit).
@@trevorjensen2706 There’s a pretty big learning curve when switching, but I absolutely love Dorico. I’ve used Finale and Sibelius for many years, but Dorico has been my favorite. That isn’t to say that the others aren’t good at what they do! I just really love the way Dorico “thinks” about the scoring process - specifically with condensing on full scores. Take a look at 4:04 for a little glimpse at what I’m talking about!
@@PhillipArthurSimmons, will do. Thanks! From the following video I have linked, at 3:41 is what attracted me to Dorico. It seems Dorico really helps with hit points, and keeping the music and picture locked. ua-cam.com/video/1So5b1lTJp4/v-deo.html
Thank you! It looks amazing! I was wondering if you could create a similar template for concert music (orchestral/chamber/...). Congrats for your great work!
Looks awesome, congrats (just purchased it!). Two questions: 1) How flexible is it in terms of tweaking the ensemble? Instead of 3 flutes, just one 1 flute, or adding Contrabassoon, English Horn, etc.? 2) Any plans on doing a similar template for Concert Music? Congrats again!
Thanks for the support! I hope you'll enjoy the template. 1. You can hide/add instruments using Setup mode. Whenever you customize the orchestra layout, be sure to re-adjust your brackets and sub-brackets in Engrave mode. 2. We have a classical/concert template in the works!

All well and good, but US page layouts are not particularly helpful for everyone else who is active outside the USA. Do you offer European page layouts?

This is a great template. Got it last week. Most excellent

Never had the opportunity to use such a template before so I've just purchased it in order to check it out.

Thanks, Ben!
In a word: brilliant!

Beautiful! Any tips for transitioning previously written music into your new template? Or just the tried and true copy-paste method?

do you know how to add repeat dots to only one staff in dorico pro 5?
All well and good, but US page layouts are not particularly helpful for everyone else who is active outside the USA. Do you offer European page layouts?
The templates come preset to USA sizes, but the change is easy to make within the program, and all settings automatically adjust.
is the template compatible with Dorico 5.1 Elements?
Hi, Janneck! This template is officially recommended for Dorico Pro. With Elements, some of the custom engraving/font features will be limited.
