- In this video, I show you how to apply organic seaweed liquid to your lawn using a knapsack sprayer. You can use a watering can if desired.
The seaweed I am using is from a brand called Multi Mite and is very inexpensive. You can order yours from Amazon here: amzn.to/3NSdD0D (affiliate link)
If you'd like to see all the products and tools I am using I have a free PDF download. You can grab it free of charge by joining my email newsletter here: lawnright.co.u...
This video is part of a series. I actually purchased a load of lawn care products from Amazon and documented the buying process. The idea is that I will buy them and use them on my own lawn and explain how you can do the same.
The first video is called Lawn care shopping list
The 2nd video is called setting up your knapsack sprayer
The 3rd video is called how to apply lawn weedkiller to your lawn (this video)
The 4th video is called how to apply seaweed to your lawn
The 5th video is called how to apply fertiliser to your lawn
The full playlist for these is here: • SHOPPING LIST
All the above videos have been made with the idea of helping YOU improve your lawn. We do it together then I can help you through it.
If you've enjoyed this video I'd love a thumbs up on the like button and a subscribe if you found it to be of value.

Your lawn is looking well shaun
Thank you mate. All the best to you
Thanks for the information. I've been applying seaweed to my lawn every two weeks. Glad to hear that it won't do any harm if I apply it on a more regular basis. My neighbour is a lawn fanatic and he's well peed off that my lawn is looking much better than his..... thanks to you 😂
🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁😁😁 fab !!
Lynne, I’m in the same boat. My lawn looking much better then the Nextdoor “expert”
Great advice on the backpack sprayer, without your video I would have struggled to put it together. Great advice on your videos. Thank you.
Great video/content Shaun.
I do this a few times a year with wormtea and with muck (is that the correct word in English) ratio between 1:10 and 1:15.
Will appy more often after seeing your video and see how the lawn reacts to it.
P.s. I haven't bought fertilizer in 30 years. Lawn and garden are fed with homemade compost and sprayed concoctions only. I guess I'm the Catweazel of lawncare. 😜
Not at all mate.. I'm actually getting more into organic stuff. One day would be nice to go full swing
Hi Shaun, great video. Lawn's looking good 👍
😊👍 thanks
Heyup the Oregan sprayer looks better than the screwfix one for £20 tried it yesterday it works but the nozzle isn't brilliant and only has the one that comes with it also doesn't have a filling guide on it
Hi yeah I quite like it. My usual sprayer is around 4x the cost, but for the money this really is pretty good
Yard looks great, thanks for the content.
😊😊👍
I measured my lawn using Google maps, zoomed in and measured the size using googles tools
Fab yes! I also did this a year or so ago in a video ua-cam.com/video/yAyCRV7lBA0/v-deo.html. I think it's a really useful tool
I buy fertiliser from this lawn company and usually has seaweed in the spring and summer fertiliser range. My lawn usually looks good in summer.
Just recently brought a liquid seaweed and was music to my ears that I can apply regularly even in winter (obviously when not frozen) now can have my summer lawn all year round haha well chuffed. Glad to hear it's good on clay soils!
😁😁 gonna be a good winter 😊
Hi Shaun, meant to ask, with the 200 ml of seaweed how much water does it need? I bought the same seaweed on your link. Doing a customer today. It’s 90m sq
Cheers
Hi you apply multi mite at 50ml per litre of water on grass so 4 litres should be plenty
@@LawnRight thanks Shaun!!
How to apply liquid seaweed to a 👕. Feeds 👕s not lawns 😄
🤣
Thanks Shaun great video , thank you for doing these series really good cheers mate
You're welcome! 😊👍
Thanks. Can this be used after iron sulphate ?
Hi yes
It smells like dead fish
🤣🤣
Hi Sean. Can you mix seaweed fertiliser and iron sulphate together using a sprayer? If so at what ratio? Cheers Paul
Hi 😁👋 Should be fine... But I usually apply separately out of habit. I would make each up according to instructions though
Interesting and that lawn does look perfect.
😊👍
I use that same seaweed but it has 'bits' in it and clogs up my sprayer. Rendering it useless for using the multi mite. It`s battery operated though so maybe doesn`t get to the pressure a pump action does.
Hood to know.. not had that issue yet all I can say is give it a good shake first. There may be some filters that can be cleaned.. I'll look if i get the same issue
Thanks for all your responses.
What lawnmower would recommend for a gardener who's keen on creating a nice looking lawn, with stripes?
Hi thanks... Im not too bothered/loyal to any brand (I do like stihl for their reliability and ability to handle a lot of work) but a decent engine is key (briggs and stratton or honda).. as for stripes, any mower with a rear roller will put stripes in... if youve got a flat lawn you may invest in a cylinder mower (Mine is an old antiquated model I got of facebook marketplace for £40)
2:17 Guidlines? (on the label) Geez twice a week, they want to rake in the profits!
Yep I know.. its gotta be a fairly weak mix I reckon
Hi now that you have used the Oregon sprayer for a while, would you still recommend this. I have brought the multi-mite fertilizer but still looking at sprayers. I have front lawn 92 sq meters and back 175sq mtrs. Should it be a 16 or 20 litre sprayer. Peter
Hi yes it's still going ok. Dont suppose itll last forever at this price but cant fault it. For 175 sq metres even a 10 litre would be plenty enough so choose whichever suits your needs really
@@LawnRight yes it is 175 sq metrs in the back plus 92 sq mtrs in the front. Will a 10 litre still be ok, Peter
Shaun, I applied the seaweed yesterday using the backpack sprayer, great piece of kit. how long will it be before I see any results and how often should I apply it, cheers
Hi Id say at least a week or two.. make sure youre watering deeply a couple of times a week at this time of year and itll all work together much easier :)
Is this good for flowers blooms around the garden? Thanks.
Hi yes it can be used all around the garden 😊
Shaun, I love your videos and they have helped me a lot.
Today I used Envii seaweed extra and thought I used the same amount per litre as you did here, even though a different brand.
I, unfortunately misread the mls per m² and per litre. I overdosed a lot!
Will my hew grass be ok? I didn't use any other products.....
Hi Janice you should be just fine.. if anything the grass may go darker with the iron but it should be fine. If anything starts to look off give it a good watering for a few days
@@LawnRight thank you so much. I may sleep well now!
Shaun, a bit premature but I have a question to ask about fertilizing my lawn next spring.
I reseeded in early September with a mixture of dwarf rye and fescues. The fescues are still taking a time to come through so it is looking a bit sparce in areas.
I have just applied preseed again and am about to give a second dose of seaweed before the cold weather starts.
Next spring I shall be overseeding after lightly scarifying and top dressing.
Sorry about the long winded question but...what fertilizer should I use after overseeding? The original grass will be about 7 months old when I overseed but of course there will be new grass coming through.
Hi.. any preseed fertilizer will be fine or even an autumn fertiliser will also be fine.. these encourage rooting rather than vertical growth.. just make sure theres no iron in the fertiliser
@@LawnRightthank you. I am using a seaweed which has a small amount if iron added. Will that be ok to use please on a newly seeded lawn and when I overseed next spring,
Can you add molasses to lawn for extra sugar for microbes?
Yes ☺️
Hi Shaun
Many of the brand products that your demostrating are not available here in the U.S... It is possible that they rebranded as some other name.
would you be so kind as to make an equivelant recommandation for your U.S. followers. For myself what kind of compost brand that is in the US can would you recommend. Thanks Doug.
Hi Doug sorry for the delay. Essentially any multipurpose compost would be fine. I dont yet have enough experience in trying any US brand.. although one day you never know.😊
@@LawnRight
yesterday I power raked with the sunjoe on that back area that I showed you thru the video I did and wanted to buy composte. I went to Home depot which is much like homebase or B & K. But Im very befuddled in know what to buy for compost and so I didnt buy any when you name a brand there is no equivalent for me follow to purchase. first time reseeding so Im not experienced at it.
Today its raining here and the forcast is that it will rain all weekso I coukd work outside. June has not been a hot month but a wet and muggy one so far.
@@douglasgrant8315 This is the stuff I sometimes use: www.diy.com/departments/verve-multipurpose-peat-free-multi-purpose-compost-50l/5059340368795_BQ.prd?ds_rl=1272379&ds_rl=1272409&gclsrc=ds&gclsrc=ds&storeId=1264 - or the growmoor brand www.growmoor.com/ - its hard for me to find a US equivalent as I usually like to go and have a look. but any "all purpose" compost "should" be fine
Hi sahun, great video as always mate.👍 Quick question about applying seaweed and the A1 spring summer fertiliser can I apply both at the same time or give it a few days between each application? Also can or should I still apply my usual sulphate of iron too or is that too much/not needed.? Also just seeded/topdressed 4 wks ago so the grass looks good but still young.
Hi both can be done on same day although with the newly seeding being done I'd just pop the seaweed on and fert in another 2 to 3 weeks
@@LawnRight Cheers shaun for the quick reply, also should I still apply the iron sulphate as I'm already treating it with seaweed and fertiliser or give it a miss for now?
@@fangfacetaz2229 I'd give it a miss now.. moses will be drying up and weakening soon
With the extended dry spell we are having, is it still ok to apply seaweed? Does it have any negative affects (or really good affects) to the success of the application?
Hi itll not do any harm but if possible get some water on from the shower, bath or washing up bowl.. use buckets if needs be 😁
@@LawnRight wonderful many thanks for answering
Heyup again I want to put some weedol down can I use seaweed on the same day or weedol first then leave it to kick in before feeding so I'm not feeding the weeds?
Hi same day is fine just let one dry before applying the other
@@LawnRight hi couldnt get any weedol or seaweed in Retford anywhere looks like amazon!!!
Sounds daft but I think one of the best things I did for my lawn was to measure it!
😊👍 definitely worth doing for good applications
Hi Shaun, can I put wetting agent in the sprayer with the seaweed?
hi.. yes :)
I tried multi mite before,I found it was just green water, no seaweed smell, and had no effect at all, I use doff seaweed now much better results,
Lawn looks good too.
Cherrs havent tried the doff version. My multimite had a definite smell though 🤔🤔
@@LawnRight I may have just had a bad batch, I was looking for an alternative to maxicrop as maxicrop price was/ is expensive. So far I've had good results with doff and it's not bad price when on offer in places like home bargins
Did you notice any good differences using this product mate.?
Hard to say. I usually apply regular and with other things at the same time.. it will have some benefit tho
@@LawnRightahh I see. Its mainly just to promote good root growth when u use it on grass isn't it? So I suppose using it in conjunction with other products you'll get a all round healthier plant. I think I'll try some along with some granule fertiliser.
Cheers.
Hi shaun, I have just purchased the same sprayer is it suitable for spraying iron on a lawn with block kerbs up to the edge of the lawn I dont want to stain the bricks any advice would be appreciated 😀
Hi it should be fine. What if suggest is walk it with just water first a few times to get used to spraying and see if you get any on the pavers. Then you can go for it.. also leave a bit unsprayed at one end.. wipe your feet on it, step off, then spray that.. keep well off till dry
If its windy dont do it.. you could also tilt your spraying hand a bit so so the one side of your spray that's closest to the edging is angled down a bit.. practice practice first using just water. Iron s awful to remove
Thankyou much appreciated 👍
Shaun, i read somewhere that you can use a fallout remover that you use on car alloy wheels to remove the small particles of iron that are the result of the brake discs doing thrir job.
I buy mine from a company called Bilt Hamber, the fallout remover is called Auto-Wheels, cracking for cars👍
Hi , great video , sorry if i am missing something but where do you get the dose of 50ml per lt of water for grass treatment ? when it say's 10 ml on the container ! Thanks in advance , keep up the good work
Hi it says it further down you can go up to 50ml 😊 right near the bottom
@@LawnRight Thank you , i was trying to read the label off the picture on amazon before i placed an order and it wasn't very clear🙂
@@kickinvinyl638 yep its super small! I had to squint 😁
10ml is there minimum recommended dilution and is more aimed at plants when your using alot more water
Great info as always. I use envii seaweed concentrate I find a little goes a long way
Ahh yes I've heard of that and considered it. Bought the multimite based on reviews and low cost. 😊
I put half a ltr with five ltrs of water, that is my preferred seaweed
ahh good.. is taht for thsi product? Hows it been?
@@LawnRight yep, the very same product,I get through 40 litres a year it goes on everything!
@@russellwiddows8892 nice 🙂🙂
Would you still recommend this product?
Yep
@@LawnRight I recently scarified my lawn and will re-seed. Do you still recommend a twice per week application of this seaweed? Thank you
Hi Shaun what sprayer tip are you using? Great video as always.
Hi.. I usually use the green anvil reflector nozzles for moss or seaweed applications but think I just used what came with the sprayer on this occasion.
how many ml per mt2? thanks for the video
I think you can go as high as 50ml per m2 but check the label.. I can look tomorrow if you need just let me know
@@LawnRight i look after a few lawns from 200m2 to 1000m2. i started using ferromel last year after your video on it and it's incredible for the price and results! looking for another product of the same value that's going to help my lawns and hoping seaweed is the one!
What size is your lawn for 4 litres please
i think about 50 sq metres
@@LawnRight thanks
When are you launching emerald green?
Hi sorry it's taking longer than planned. At the minute I cant say 100% due to supply issues of materials 😥
Can you leave it in a knapsack and re-apply for every 2 weeks until its empty? How long before it would need a fresh mix.
Yes, but not sure how long for sorry
Hi Shaun, That dosage seems excessive, i have seaweed and its 10ml /ltr water 8ltrs water to cover 100m2 totaling 80ml seaweed. I guess it all depends on how consentrated or how much the seaweed has been diluted? It was about £11 for a litre though. I might up the dose rates.
Yeah I've not checked as yet, but I assume this is already quite diluted making it seem like a bargain
The application rate should be 10ml liquid seaweed per litre of water *per sq.m* of lawn.
The recommended dosage for a 50 sq.m lawn like this would be least 10ml x 50 = 500ml liquid seaweed in 50 litres of water. The ratio of seaweed to water can be increased as stated for established lawns but should be reduced for seedlings.
It only appears to be inexpensive because only 10% of the required product has been applied!
Hi Shaun, great video as always. Does it have any bad effects on the lawn if you use it at same time as fertilizer or you have just reseeded the lawn?
Hi it's all good all round 😊😊
