The production quality on this was astounding. Really inspirational. As for getting on rollers, just place them against a wall. Makes things so much easier in the beginning. We feel unstable so we feel we're going to fall so that distracts us from just focusing on balancing. By leaning against one wall it builds confidence.

Alternatively, just clamp down the front wheel and only have the rear wheel on the rollers if you want something safer. @@chocolatecandybar4319 I guess...but do we really need to train our stability this much? I saw an experienced pro-cyclist have difficulty with this on the first try or two, so that implies that you can still bike pretty good without something like this.
@@captsomeguy1 indeed it is, but having a better stability and handling is not a disadvantage right? Especially on sharp turn or avoiding an obstacle that suddenly pops out.
@@chocolatecandybar4319 True. I just don't see it very safe, because it seems really easy for that bike to slip off the rollers and run right into a wall. Maybe this would be better used in a spacious room.
I have a bike trainer and I still think rollers are the next best thing to riding a bike outside as far as realism is concerned. Just wary about the need to constantly balance yourself and not accidentally cause the bike to ride into a TV or window in front! But I'd still buy one rather than make one myself because of the parts and tools (and the expertise) required.
I did it, thank you very much for the video. My one was inspired on this video in about 90%. The only difference is that I made it adjustable for different between the axis distance. My cost of materials was $50, the most difficult part was the wood circles, I did it by hand but didnt work well so i cutted it with a CNC machine (I dont have the proper tools to make them on my own). If I had to make the whole thing again I think I can reduce the cost to $40. I live in a 3rd world country so... maybe in the USA the $15 is possible. Thanks again.
Much more dynamic than fix systems... Here you can moove your body and your bike in all directions, after somes practice, it will be such a same as a real bicycle tour 👌
Don't know about the $15 but the whole project is genius. Thoughts about parts. Any recycling center would have most of the metal. Same with the bearings. The tools you can get at most lending libraries. The most interesting part was the drill stand and there are several on Ebay in the $30 range. The most worrying part was Q riding the bike. I worry about future generations of Qs. But that's his problem. Great video!

Rollers and trainers are used during off season/winter where weather conditions don't allow for safe riding outdoors. Otherwise, yeah, definitely outdoors. I've also heard of people who have been hit by cars being nervous on the road again and hop on rollers for a while. Beats a stationary bike.
I was thinking the same thing or just extend the length of the frame out so that the center of gravity is inside the roller instead of on top. Maybe an inch or two would do the trick.
Your roll is very wide and neat. The center of the front roller slightly in front of the front wheel axis provides more driving stability, even allowing you to take your hands off the handlebars.
