I've been to many car scenes and many car cultures in the nearly ten years of me making automotive UA-cam videos. I've been all around the United States, and even did a small documentary on Hawaii's car culture showcasing how an island can make some of the best tight nit communities. However I had no idea what I had in store when I visited the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is another Hidden car culture that the world needs to know about. Toyota Corolla,Mazda RX-7's, even twin turbo Lamborghini's drive around this island that is an afterthought to many. Welcome to Puerto Rico: The Hidden Car Culture. Thanks for watching!

As for my title- PR isn’t totally hidden, but when I told several people on the mainland of the US I was going to Puerto Rico to film car stuff the answer was always “why would you go there?”

Thank you for featuring PR. I'm originally from there and a lot of my car influences come from my upbringing. Not only is it a very welcoming scene, but there are a LOT of very talented people who make due with what they have to work with. I hope you got to see some cars that you typically wouldn't see built, turning heads. I'm pretty sure I've seen every budget model from every car maker on the island souped up and done properly (Hyundai/Kia, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Suzuki..)

Puerto Rico is known for it's strong car culture. In fact, a lot of Latin American countries have a strong car culture in general, but not as great as Puerto Rico's. I live in Brazil and our car culture is also pretty interesting.

A lot of people in the mainland are sleeping on Puerto Rico. I always have to explain to my friends that they can travel to PR with NO visa or passport. US citizens are very welcomed, as well as anyone from other countries!

Puerto Rico seem like such an amazing place to live, I would love to visit Puerto Rico at some point in my life.
I miss the car culture back in PR. I still own two modified cars there, a supercharged V8 4Runner and a 1.8t swapped MK3 Jetta sleeper.

Man this really hit the feels... I was born in the island and now live in Chicago. When I was a kid my parents owned an 87 Mustang GT. That car is the reason i am in car culture. I still remember my mom pulling up to lights to race with me in the car.

Awesome video, thanks for showing us some of the car culture there. Gotta say I love Puerto Rico! We took the family there about 6 yrs ago. We are from rural Alberta in Canada. We were planning a cruise vacation/island hopper because we had never been anywhere in the Caribbean. My brother had been there on an adventure trip with the Canadian Air Force while he was posted in Tyndall, Florida and said make sure you see Puerto Rico. We booked our trip to include three days stay before and after the cruise in San Juan. We rented a car, drove to lots of places on the island and walked all through San Juan. Up by the old fort there were hundreds of families flying kites in the wind off the ocean, half a block away there were a bunch of old dudes playing jazz/blues on the street in front of a cafe. We hit the kiosk beach to try the food there, the young waitress didn't speak English, we didn't speak enough Spanish, but these young guys eating there just came over and translated for us, then refused to let us buy them a drink, just happy to help out. We were loving Puerto Rico so much we were actually disappointed to have to get on the cruise ship. Next time we will skip the cruise and just stay in Puerto Rico. The island and the people are beautiful, friendly, and have a totally awesome and unique culture. Love Puerto Rico!

I drive an fb rx7 and I swear out of all the guys who stop to talk to me, half of them are Puerto Ricans. They always say how Japanese cars, especially mazdas, are huge on the island. It'll be awesome to get a better look at what it's like there.
