    does the solvent have any effect on the reaction, or is it "inert"?

    • @matouskejval303
      @matouskejval303 3 роки тому +1

      it does have an effect. In the ozonolysis reaction, the product is an ozonide. The Me2S is a reducing agent that produces the carbonyl compounds

    I just wanted to ask, if I have this compound:
    CH2=C-C-C-C-C-C
    _____CH3 (CH3 is connected to the 2nd carbon atom in this compound).
    and I wanna do Ozonolysis to it.
    I had these options in multiple options question based:
    A)Alcohol and Aldehyde. B)Aldehyde and Ketone. C) DiKetone. D)Alcohol only.
    Which will be the right answer? I tried to draw it, and I think I got Aldehyde and Ketone.
    But I just wanna make sure or know for sure.

    Regarding Zn, Acetic Acid, Me2S, (CH3)2S, and the other compounds you mentioned in the reaction with ozone, are all these compounds catalyst poisons? I learned from my Orgo professor that the double bond connecting the 2 Carbons will go away but there will be 2 Oxygens on one side and 1 Oxygen on the other side. In other words, I was expecting both Carbons to be bonded to the same Oxygen on one side and have their own Oxygens on the other side. I'm thinking that the compounds mentioned above are catalyst poisons that are preventing this/these extra step(s) from happening? Plz answer

    • @abhirupkundu2778
      @abhirupkundu2778 8 місяців тому

      not wrong, yes they are poisoned catalysts, poisoned with things like sulfur, nitrogen, etc. Also Me2S is the same (CH3)2S, since Me denotes methyl groups
