Iv been in Canada all my life and I still learn from your channel 😅 You make important and valid points which definitely help newcomers. If Canadians that were born here only knew these secrets you talk of 😂 maybe they could've been better. I love your energy, passion, honesty, and you deserve my subscription.

So...how do you define "rich"? I've lived in various countries and having returned to Canada I can assure you that my definition of "rich" is having the freedom to live life the way you want to live it, to have one's human rights protected, being able to explore vast wilderness and re-energize by spending time outdoors....you don't have to buy into the culture of bigger is better....shop at the thrift stores, never buy a NEW vehicle...buy a used vehicle....rent an apartment and don't crank up the heat....welcome everyone to Canada...the weather always seems cold when you are inside looking out the window (even for Canadians who have lived here all of their life)...get outside and start walking around...you'll warm up and enjoy it! don't try and keep up with the neighbours...don't define your life by others....ask for help...there are many programs to try and help people but I agree they are hard to find sometimes... :), volunteer and get involved in the community...people are dying to come to countries like Canada...and I know it's not easy once you get here but be happy, positive and grateful for the good things...and learn from ALL experiences... :)

There is a difference between living free and living as a working poor. Yes in Canada you live a free life with all your rights protected. But, for most immigrants, life is hard. They become victims of the system and become the working poor.

Canadians born and raised here are poor here even if they make 90k a year here. I see it first-hand. They just rent condos and lease cars and buy lunch all the time plus don't forget Tim's coffee every morning. At the end of the month they have nothing saved. Canada is built in a way that you spend all your money here. It's very true that immigrants and Canadians born and raised here can't even buy a plane ticket overseas because flights are so expensive here compared to EU countries. This place is retarded and it's getting worse and worse each year. News update from my end for those who remember my previous comments about Norway and how it is better than Canada is that I will be renting my semi detached house for $2200 month by the end of October here in Ottawa. Not only that my mortgage will be paid each month I will also earn $900 clean in my pocket for nothing :) I can live for free basically now in Poland or Ukraine :) Anyways my wife is doing great in Norway making double what I earn here working for the Government. Can't wait to join her and finally start to live with no stress at work. Peace

I know immigrants that have gotten poorer. Cost of living, combined with immigration lawyers , upgrading skills to meet Canadian standards. The best you can hope for is middle class. A small minority will become upper middle. A tiny fraction will become wealthy

    • @emperor4316

Even those so called middle class are slowly becoming the working class. The biggest problem is out of control house hold debt. Everything is getting ridiculously expensive combined with debt. you have to remember that most first time Canadians from any country are the poorest, it is the second generation that do much better and then the third generation do ever better. I am third generation Canadian my wife is 7 th generation Canadian. My family came from Scotland in 1900 , my grandfather fought in both world wars my dad flew Lancasters in the second wold war. sacrifice is what I required but you have to pay your dues. It's not "the average Canadian" - it's Canadians who are making or just have more money than you do. Take a look around: LOTS of Canadians are not making much money, and have not gotten any money from their families. There are lots of native-born Canadians who cannot afford the kind of vehicle he's driving around in. Too many people make themselves miserable by comparing themselves only with everyone who has more junk than they do.

I want to come to Canada & create a good life for me & my girlfriend. I don't need to be rich, I just want to have at least 10% of my salary at the end of the month & I want to eat as much as I want to.
In my country, I run out of money 20 days after the salary, I don't eat breakfast because of lack of money & 1/5 of my salary goes for my rent. For the remaining 10 days in a month I mostly don't eat at work because I cannot afford it. My calorie intake is around 700 kcal per day & I need at least 3000 per day. I get €3 per hour (steel carpenter) & my country is a member of the EU.
I just want to work & live normally, that's why I will come to Canada.

In Quebec they could not care less about your degree earned elsewhere in the world - doctor, engineer, economist, anything is worth 0 until you go back and earn at least a Master degree (2 years) or another college degree (4 years). Say you are a doctor, you have maybe 5% to succeed because they don't want foreign doctors here - the medical Council just doesn't trust them, it's a cultural thing. In other provinces they are more open minded but you will still have a very hard time finding a job based on an European degree or experience. Also, Quebec is a particular society not good for all immigrants. Philipino, arabs, french (from France), east-europeans, some latino are doing pretty fine here. Germans, russians, UK people, Jamaicans, Asians and so on are better with Toronto or even Vancouver locations. Going rather to the US may be even better, it's a wealthier country, I feel like Canada is more like the second option, for those who don't make it to the US.

Please keep in mind that to everything you have already mentioned you must add the costs of:
      - Winter tires. Yes, in Canada winters are HARSH. We need special tires because of all the snow/ice on the roads (usually from Nov 15 to April 15). And you MUST comply with this. That is the LAW $$$$
      - Rust on the vehicle (salt is used to melt snow and this damages your car, sometimes real bad) $$$
      - New comers are usually NOT able to apply for a full driver's license. YES, in Canada there's more than 1 type of driver's license AND depending where you're from it could take a couple of years or more (and even more $$$$) for you to be able to apply for a full driver's license (wealthy nations: US, UK, AUS, NZ, Japan, and most European Union countries are not subject to this and depending on the amount of time the person has been driving they can usually just exchange their country license for a Canadian one)
      - Of course, since you only have a Driver's PERMIT for a CAR (don't even get me started on the hassle of getting a DL for trucks, vans or motorcycles) and not a full DL you're considered a "new driver" AND of course, your insurance goes through the roof $$$$
      - If you live in places with real bad drivers like Brampton, ON your insurance goes even higher $$$$

Hello sister, Its had finding jobs from outside of Canada. You have to come visit first if you dont want to pay an agent to deal with your application. However the most important thing is for you to do some research into what professional certification you can get to help boost you portfolio. I have a little understanding about the Civil engineering industry in Canada because i will be returning to school to study that. 1. Get Your P.Eng certification you must had a B. Applied Sciences. 2nd. Look for jobs in remote locations i.e up North of Canada.(so you have less competition) Also have it in mind that you might be working with Technologist ( this are people who have civil engineering diploma.) this i my best advice to you. All the best

@J OneLife it's not like when you born they ask you what country or region you want to be in,so when you grow up you just realize what you want and then you try for it,I believe the earth belongs to every one and every one should be able to live where they want

People who are well off in their countries or who have a paid off residence and have decently comfortably life, I would suggest them NOT to move to Canada!
I would suggest that don't move to any place without visiting and spending some reasonable time there to get a real feel for it and then decide if you want to move or not. If it is Canada, then visit for all of the winter months to get a true feel for the cold.
Also, my advice would be that if you own a house and a decent relax life style then why move and struggle especially if you are in India because India is booming and has scope for growth.
Below are my 5 reasons why people who are already well off and have a good life in their countries should not move to Canada.
    1) Housing is very expensive in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto and so are the living expenses like car insurance and taxes like property tax, sales tax and taxes in general. Where rent is not expensive are places that are very cold and with less population and thus are not major cities.
2)Weather 8-9 months is cold and only Vancouver and Victoria is mild but it rains a lot there.
    3) For immigrant, climbing the promotion ladder is not very easy because they are not well versed with the culture and not really a part of it. For example, if an Indian immigrant luckily lands a job in a big company where there is chance of promotions then still a barrier will be there of culture relability. Indian people will find it difficult to talk about hockey, politics, etc as they are not born and brought up there, so the managers and supervisors will want to promote who not only has the skills put also is relatable and fits in with the culture. It may seem like something small but reality is people like to help and promote people they like and can relate with.
    4) Life-people in major cities have a go go life and as you know you have to do everything yourself as home help services are expensive.
    5) Some of the recent political decisions- Marijuana has been legalized and some may not have a problem with that but I am not in favour for it and I don't think Indian parents would want to expose their children to an enviourment where it is legal to smoke Marijuana.

@S S Why is it that doctors, architects, engineers and such highly qualified professionals from back home have to do survival jobs like taxi, etc and work in fields that are not of their education and qualification background?
You were saying that it is about "the nature of your maturity or experience", so, Why is it that they are told that they have to have Canadian education, credentials and Canadian experience to work in the professional career that they had back home? Why is that when COVID-19 started the gov't did not care about this criteria of Canadian experience, credentials and was asking people of medical backgrounds to just come forward to help contain the spread of the virus, so when the need arose they forgot about the "requirements" that they had set for these people to enter the work force and career they had spent tireless years in working so hard to qualify for back-home. You can read about it on the article I have sourced below.
The title of the article I am referring to is "Ontario asks anyone with medical background to step forward to fight COVID-19" on toronto.ctvnews.ca Published Tuesday, April 7, 2020 7:27AM EDT
Last Updated Thursday, April 9, 2020 10:12AM EDT. The same article was also refereed to on iheartradio under the title "Ontario Asks People With Medical Background To Step Forward To Fight COVID-19"
A lot of highly qualified professionals, like ones from medical background for example already had a great life back home and their children too had a good future and good life but going by insta pictures and misleading stories from their acquaintances, friends, family, loved ones they were misled into thinking that grass will be even greener on the other side. So again, specifically speaking to those that are doing well back home I say just appreciate the green grass on your side, stay home and help your country improve and grow.
My personal opinionated advice is specific to those people who are already well-off back home, who have a paid off residence, who are living a good life, is to not to move to Canada.

PG Diplomas are worth nothing. Getting into a University might uplift your chance of getting a good white-collar job. Germany has pretty good universities for engineering plus the tuition fees are affordable.

Masters from a good university will definitely give you a better chance. Don't go for PG diplomas, they are just a gateway for people to enter the country.
