Fantastic interview! I was lucky enough to get to meet Erik at SorceryCon and looking forward to seeing what new and crazy things he is going to bring to the game! Sorcery will have a long and bright future.
Have been waiting for interviews with Erik. Hearing about the development of this game is so interesting, and he's the encyclopedia for it. He's done so much work for Sorcery, especially with the art direction, which i know a lot of people love. Learning about his thought process and the history behind all these decisions is really amazing.
Its pretty clear that what seperates Sorcery above most other TCGs is that its a labor of love, created by people who love to play and collect TCGs. Most other major TCGs (not all, but most) seem to be motived solely on being a means to make money and thats it. Sorcery has soul.
I loved every minute of this. Amazing job. Rude, you're an incredible interviewer and I'm so glad you got this opportunity because it makes for such fun and informative content!
It's really interesting to learn that if he had not met the co-designer that it would have probably been a straight Magic clone that probably would have not made a dent in the TCG world. I am so glad that Erik's Peanut Butter and Nick's Chocolate got together so we could have this incredible and game changing TCG!
Great video and interview. It's encouraging to see that he is more than just your average designer after a bank account full of zeros. He really has a love for the project and it's intent to be fun for players rather than just a production line for pushing product. As someone who hopes to be involved in this game for years to come it's reassuring to see "the boss" smile when discussing buisness. Also glad to see that the interview didn't happen in bed lol. (Inside joke)
As to making the game more known- prepare and out some “base kits” to stores to get them started. Everyone that has seen the game loves its aesthetics and mechanics. They just have to see it
Good to hear that there are at least 7 more sets coming out. Expanding player base…. Give LGS’s benefits for ordering a certain amount, draft kits, mats. That is one issue my LGS’s have expressed. Also product, if you are not an Inn keeper status or have an “in” with a distributor, that struggle to get product for drafts and sealed events. Have precon a with every large set that comes out.
Please make the game more accessible to the player base. Not everyone who wants to play the game has a playgroup to play at home. Many players like me, relied heavily on our local stores to host events, but for me, there's only one shop within 3 hours drive that regularly host Sorcery events, and when some players decided to not show up due to holidays and conventions, the event would get cancelled, and us remaining players are left without a place to play the game. You can release limited 1st edition sets and then much more available 2nd edition sets, promote the game to all TCG card shops, increase the new set frequency to 2 per year.
It's not often that great questions are followed up by even better questions!!! A+ job. Thanks to Rude and Erik for the interview! 💯😄💯
Heck Yeah, Big interview!!! Awesome Stuff Dave

cool 👍
Will there be Conan inspired sword and sorcery set with a Barbarian Avatar?
More frogs! 😉🐸
I would just like more mini sets to satiate our hunger between annual sets.
