I just put in a new tensioner. I followed every one of your steps. The only mistake for me was the alternator studs. You have to have 7 mm socket or a star socket. You're the only one on the internet who broke it down step by step thanks to you my car is running again.
Great video! The instructions are easy to follow. The hardest part is moving the alternator enough to remove the idler pulley. I suggest using a short flex head ratchet to remove the alternator mount studs. I would also suggest having an engine torque strut mount (GM part 25840458) on hand. I discovered that mine was torn. Since you have to remove it, it is super easy to replace when putting everything back together.
Thanks, this is the way I was going to attempt first. The web said to go through the bottom, wasted time. For the idler pulley going through the alternator, I loosed the inner nut to about only 4 turns left, and removed the outboard stud completely and just rotated the alternator. Appreciate the help.

This job is a nightmare, you made it easier, thanks
Thanks for the video. I just replaced belt tensioner, idler pulley, and serpentine belt.
Thx so much. Great step by step. Saved me the guess work
I am literally doing this job right now..this is my 10th time watching this..don't want to F up the fuse box..oh and it's 30f outside
If you have a hoist take off the fender liner and you have perfect access to alt bolts and everything else no need to remove anything up top
Thank you for the info!!!
Excellent
I can't believe you gotta do that much just to change a tensioner, ugh...... I'll be inventing new words to curse the thing all day.
nice!
and it only pays 1.0. Ridiculous.
chevy engineers need to be fired for this one.
