  • In this video I upgrade a 6V ride on car.
    I remove the 6V battery and replace with a 14.4 battery from a drill.

    So idk what writes you hooked up to where and if you added anything besides the new battery. Needed more. Step by step. Like you are telling your kids how to do it

    Did you change the motor too or just the battery?

      @@tysonvenablescoaching i only changed the battery. The motor probably has a rating fron 6 ro 12 v anyway. The problem I had is that the music player burned out after a while.

    I am curious. Would you be able to add a new gearbox/motor to the other side, or are the rear wheels physically different?

    • @hosuandreiremus
      @hosuandreiremus  Рік тому +1

      On this car the wheels are different and the axel is not symmetric. But on other cars I have I was able to add another motor and made it 2 wheel drive

    Didin't you think to converse into 12v only wires before motors via some converter? Then I am no sure cus i am not expert, then you would get 12v on motors and remote control circuit would be 6v and won't burn. What do you think about it?

    • @hosuandreiremus
      @hosuandreiremus  Рік тому

      That would work, but I dont know how capable these small 6v batteries are when you try to step up the voltage. V=IR so you are technically halving the current when you do that.

      @@hosuandreiremus Yeah, right theese 6v batteries could be weak, So better option probably would be install 12 v battery, 12v remote control unit dedicated, and then converter from 12 into 6v in lights and music circle. My boy has i think similar rc car and its teribly slow... :)

    Were did you buy your replacement battery? And how long the life and how many hours can still play using that setup?

    • @hosuandreiremus
      @hosuandreiremus  2 роки тому +2

      The battery is from a cordless drill. It lasts over 1 hour. never used enough to run out of battery. I don't recommend using a higher voltage battery like I did as it can damage the electronic circuit in the car. your pest option is to buy a replacement battery from ebay. They are less than £20.

      @@hosuandreiremus ah okey , That's why I was surprised because I know the electronics that are included like led lights and music player are designed at 6v so I was surprised that you used a higher voltage battery that will damage that setup apart from the engine that was designed also with the fix voltage :) anyway thank you very much if you have another technique regarding that for the long run to use

      Ebay or Amazon will sell them. It is called a PWM (pulse width modulator).

    • @hosuandreiremus

      It depends. The motors will be fine, but if you have the controller for tje remote or the music player, they will not survive long.

      @@hosuandreiremus i done the same and it hasnt even been a week i put an 18v makita battery on there and at some point took a funny smell....turns out the remote controller wont go left or right anymore but will respond to forward backward and the handbrake. I need to sort that out so im looking for a solution and he s not that good at steering just yet. My belief is that the motor under the car which turns the steering probably burnt out...

      @@uittyman if the remote controller dies can they still drive the car on their own? I have just brought a 6v one for my kid and am thinking it needs a bit of a power boost but thinking a safer option would be a 12v drill battery, not quite as crazy.
