I have a 1989 RLC-60 and it's an astonishing guitar. The original white finish has yellowed massively over in Japan (I imported it to the UK last year) and it's gorgeous and practically plays itself. Even though I own a 2016 Gibson Les Paul Custom as well, the Burny is my go-to guitar... it's seriously that good!
The secret is already out on them and some of the nicer ones are used mid grade Gibson money. The higher the number on the model name, (rlg-120 etc) the more yen in the thousands they costed new so people sell them by that
I remember doing work experience in a guitar shop over 5 years ago that had loads of Burny guitars, but the entire time I thought they were called 'Bunny' guitars....I feel enlightened with this new found knowledge....
Navigator is a brand that makes high end copy guitars from the ESP guys. They say that they are better that the Gibson Custom shop and historic guitars and are built to perfection
I absolutely love this channel, but I was definitely not expecting that "River of Deceit" intro. Thank you for that nice surprise, and keep up the good work!
I just picked up an '88 custom in black. I was considering options and this video helped me narrow-down my choices! Considering I paid about the same money for it that a new epiphone les paul costs, it is absolutely incredible!
I bought a guitar at a show labeled "Japanese Les Paul." Honestly I love it and it's my favorite guitar. Thinking about putting in some new pickups/fixing it up a bit. Still not really sure what it is but I love it.
I too was lucky enough to find one of these "vintage" LP copies. For me it was a 1975 Kasuga LG770v that was about to be used as freaking firewood was rescued and brought back to life with quite a bit of spare pieces that me and a friend had lying around, just as you say those japanese copies can kick most Gibson's asses for a surprise for pretty cheap second hand prices, yours is in pristine condition while mine wasn't loved very much, quite a bit of relic and cigarette burns from 40-something years of heavy giging, yet somehow it's still solid as a rock and roadworthy. Anyways, congrats with such a great find and cheers from Mexico!
Dude ! I was very happy when it announced to have bought this guitar, in the facebook video it was clear in his face the satisfaction in touching it in the store! Congratulations on the new G.A.S buddy!
my Burney is a RLC 55 its a planet burst finish tho, and there is not many of those. It's a beautiful guitar to look at and to play i'm really proud of it and yours sounds amazing too.
I just pulled the trigger on a Burny white flying V short scale bass from the same era for $430 at a pawn shop by my work. The last owner put on a new bridge and tuners and an active rotary distortion circuit in place of one of the volume pots.
Living in Japan rn and got one for around $400. It's a 1991 RLC-70 and although it's rough shape, the aged look gives it character and it still plays very well
I have the exact same one in black. So happy I bought a SG Standard in black too. Got both off eBay with free 2 or 3 day shipping. Both together came in for less than $1000. Just a couple of years ago. Better than any of my Gibsons.
I have been playing Burny/Greco/Fernandes/Tokai since the early 1980's and they are all wonderful guitars. I currently own a Greco 78' strat copy, a Tokai 72' re-issue Flying V, a Tokai 57' Korina Explorer prototype w/ split V headstock, a Robin (Tokai) 1982 super strat, and a Fernandes (1988) 56' strat re-issue... and they are all amazing sounding guitars. And since they are not collector items I can play the heck out of them.
Long time Fernandes, Burny fan. I had one very similar to yours. It was all mahogany. I ended up selling it to a friend who wouldn’t quit about wanting to buy it. I kept my black one..it is just a bit better.
I've heard of some really nice Korean made Les Paul style guitars from a company called Wolf. A store in LA sells them and they go for $430-500 depending upon the case you order with them (or lack thereof). I've been hearing people rave about them.
Your "facts" are all over the place. They're still made (yes, in Japan too). The LPs weren't made in a ton of countries (most likely just Japan and China, POSSIBLY a short Korean build but more likely a different China/Taiwan factory) They didn't start "making the good ones" in '85, they made good stuff in the 70's as well and the Revival line started '81. The pickups are VH-3 and VH-1 depending on era, not VH-2. There are way more price levels than 60/65/70 (and 1990 was 65, by the way). At this point any MIJ 90's model would be classified as vintage, being 20+ years old. Nice to see you flying the flag, though... :D
Now we know everyone love their own brand of farts.. you cant deny that. This guy sounds like he knows a thing or 2 about Burny guitars and is just setting some facts straight. In fact it sounds like he know way too much, thats why I believe him. :D
I own a left-handed 2005 TOKAI '61 Reissue SG guitar Made In Japan. It is so well made and plays/sounds amazing. I played a used 2019 Gibson SG Standard recently at Guitar Center and it played and sounded amazing too! I bought the TOKAI used 7 years ago for $650. Guitar Center has that 2019 Gibson SG down to $899 which I would buy if I didn't already own the TOKAI.
then you know what Im talking about. A guitarist's deam and nightmare. Next time I go Im a bring 15 grand just for that purpose. I went in to one shop and they had Axe Fx II and Kemper set up side by side both ran through a Mesa 90/90. I already had the Axe Fx II XL+. After AB ing I purchased the Kemper and find myself using Axe Fx only for stomp boxs no modeling.
We went to visit our son in Okinawa last year and stopped off for a few days in Tokyo. Went downtown to the guitar players dream street! I picked up a sweet 2000 Gibson Les Paul standard honeyburst plus top for $1350. It is definitely a must do if you go to Tokyo.
Got a Burny LPB 80 on eBay for under three hundred and lm blown away. It’s like a time capsule and it’s so cool. It’s become my favorite out of 12 really nice basses.
I have a 1980 Aria Pro II LS-600. Best Les Paul I have ever played. Construction on the guitar is solid. Better than any other Gibson I’ve ever played, including my own. I highly recommend MIJ clones.
I have an Ace Frehley Burny Les Paul - Same headstock as yours....No serial Number, have no idea where it was made, but it rocks Balls and I suppose that's all you need as a gigging guitar player..
My first electric in 1992 was a silverburst Harmony les paul copy. I still have it and im never getting rid of it. Plays very well. I also picked up a Stellar black les paul custom copy for about 200 used. Ive liked both of those more than my old Epiphone les paul. That thing was junk. BTW, Mad season rocks. Great song choice.
What is this, Ryan?! 0:38 ACTUAL "clean" clean tones?! Finally! You did it! Love your vids, not a fan of your definition of "clean" tone. ;) Glad you bought this one! Sounds amazing.
I had a black one, same year as yours. It was good. But I found the Grecos to have a slightly higher quality to them. That being said. They’re both fantastic. My only gripe with the burnt was the dyed rosewood board. I had worn through the dye to the point where there where finger print marks all over the fretboard which was well, totally hideous. So I sold it off. I ended up with an 82 Gibson Les Paul custom. Which I’m very happy with. I found the burnys and grecos to fill the void until I could afford the real thing, but eventually they both left me wanting a bit more. They are an excellent guitar for the money. I’ve been hunting for the early 80s Rhoads model, since Burny actually went to Cali and inspected Randy’s actual les Paul for the specs.
I have a pair of Agile 3100 series LP's. Both are great build quality and sound great, both similarly spec'd to a custom. Love them, great value too. One is a cherry burst with humbuckers, the other a gold top with P90's.
LOVE my Agiel AL-3100MCC. It's a freaking awesome guitar! You just can't go wrong with Agile. It's astounding how much the guitar costs considering how awesome the quality is.
I had a 1990. Joe Perry model with VH-1 pickups (these were made by Gotoh btw), it was a great feeling and sounding guitar with a bit thinner body and a maple cap + flame veneer..VH-1 was a gibson t-top style pickup...Btw your's is a Randy Rhoads model and yeah it has a maple cap! I'm glad you decided to talk about Burny guitars, I find them the best brand if you want an LP..you get a great LP that is often better then the original for a great price..but they are not cheap in any way, unless you go in Japan and pick them up without paying shipping and taxes...
Curious if you still have this guitar? A few quick corrections if I may, the modal number is based on the price, but the various numbers are not based on the price of the year (inflation), each number is a tier for that modal, they would update every few years. The top tier would have premiums such as a nitro finish. If yours is a 1990 then it would be an RLC-70 (1991 catalog) where as the RLC-75 from the same year would have three pickups. The Revival series (RLC = Les Paul Custom & RLG = Les Paul Standard) started in 1981 and ran till 1991 (92 being the last year they were in the catalog). The series returned in 2002 with Made in China guitars. 2003 they added a top tier MIJ modal (RLC-100). But it appears that the line as again stopped. Got my 1992 RLC-70 John Sykes in Japan for 18,000 yen ;)
I play a fernandes 1983 Jazz bass copy, which kicks soooo much ass. Compared it with an like early 2000s and late 90s jazz bass from fender, and it totally beat them. Very glad to own this kinda rare instrument. Fernandes/Burny made/makes (don't know there newer products) great instruments. If you see one, you should buy it.
The grey market in Japan is awesome! There are Manya guitars you can buy here and flip for a 25% in the states. In fact, that's how I got my first epiphone custom. I was about to buy a Greco for 200$ and then I saw this Chinese 2005 lp custom for 300$ the Greco was better made, but I never even played a les Paul. And I had a bunch of guitars and was only here for 3 months. I looked at the prices and said--this guitar retails used 350-400$ in the states. My goto lp is now a 10000¥ Tokai I bought for 40000¥ at a thrift store. It is one of the 80s versions when Gibson sued them. It was a gold-top but someone sanded down to the maple...gorgeous guitar. I am debating today to buy an aria pro. It is Korean and the frets on the neck are not too smooth. But it has Seymour Duncan pick-ups it is lighter than a current Epiphone LT and it looks a hell of a lot better too. I think it was sunburst! I know a guy who disassembles jaguars to sell in the U.K. Japanese guitars are hot! We got paisley telecasters and competition mustangs!
All the Burny Guitars I've ever had the occasion to play were EXTREMELY WELL BUILT. I have to say that I only ever played Japanese Burny guitars, I don't know anything about Burny guitars of another country.
Keep an eye out for a clean GTX 36. It was made in the Samick factory, distro in the US was by Kaman up until about 1993. I had one in a SICK 59 style burst finish. Super weighty mahogany, the maple cap was a plain grain, but was about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick, and the neck was killer. I think the hardware was standard issue Gotoh stuff as were the pickups. I have been looking for another one like it for 20 or more years. I bought mine new when I was 16 at a chain called Music and Arts Center in the DC area. Try one out....they RIP.
God I love my 2 1990 Burnys. A black SG Standard and a black LPC. They have just tripled in price overnight. I tried to get my friends to get one but they didn't.
Being primarily an Asian guitar guy (mostly Japanese) I can't honestly see why you WOULDN'T make a video on it. Georgous!! It's weird how well they make American copies. I have an 80s Fernandes tele that all the old tele country guys drool over.
Got one for a moment, RLC90 tobacco burst, awesome sound, had to refret it, added the MOP it lacked, but had to sell it. Waaaaay too heavy, about 12 lbs...
I actually just bought a 1990 RLC 70 black custom before I found this video. I do love the Cream custom, almost snagged one. But the black/gold combo is just my favorite. Can't wait to see how it stacks up against my beloved Gibson Trad Pro ii w/ Floyd.
i own 2 gibsons both of which i love, but my buddy came across a black 91 burny custom and gave me a killer deal on it,& i have to say im not only impressed, i love it, its certainly on par with my gibbys, if not better. never see them, kind of wild lol
I just found a daphne blue 89 Fernandes strat on the buy and sell pages a few weeks back for $200, it’s just as good as Murican stuff. I was blown away when I first played it, it’s one of my favourite guitars now. I’d love to find a similar deal on a Burny LP.
I just traded a guy my junk Chibson and an Indonesian made Jackson Adrian Smith Sig model which was crap also for a Burny Les Paul with the Floyd Rose Trem and sustainer pickup in this same color, you are absolutely correct this thing is top notch quality honestly best guitar I have ever played next to my 2008 YJM Sig Strat, I love the weight of it also I just wish I knew what year it is and where it was built, any advice would appreciate it
Dude, now you have me thinking. A few years back I bought an 81 les Paul custom and I love it. But I settled in a color that I’m not so found of because the white ones were so much more expensive for some reason. I’m thinking of selling my Gibson and buying 2 or 3 of these...... the Gibson is great but when I hold it I don’t feel like I’m holding $2800 worth of guitar in my hands.
Last year I purchased a 1982 Burny Les Paul Standard copy, plain top in cherry burst, beat to shit for £550. It's honestly one of the greatest guitars I've ever played/owned. I took it into the studio earlier this year and our engineer didn't even know it wasn't a Gibson until I told him. Phenomenal guitars. I was actually toying with the idea of picking up a Burny/Greco/Orville LP custom as well, but now I've seen this video I'm dead set on picking one up.
I bought a cream Burny Les Paul Custom from my coworker and I've been playing it every day for like 4 hours during quarantine. I love it so much
Thumbs up for River Of Deceit! That was unexpected!
Actually made me cry. I've been thinking about Layne a lot recently
For reals! Mad Season!
Mad Season!!!! Super band
That whole album is amazing. I still isten to it regularly.
So good. Also unexpected
Hi, considering doing the same. Did you have to pay much in the way of customs/VAT to import to the UK?
->goes to Japan
->causes a burny guitars price hike
They've always been around the same. Orville by Gibson and old Tokai Reborn are the most expensive vintage ones there.
The secret is already out on them and some of the nicer ones are used mid grade Gibson money. The higher the number on the model name, (rlg-120 etc) the more yen in the thousands they costed new so people sell them by that
And if you're going to post a comment saying that it remained the same, then have you heard anout this concept called "a joke"?
Yeah, THANKS Fluff :-(
I gotta get to Tokyo now... I have a friend of mine that lives there...
I was lucky enough to play a Burny about 9 years ago and it’s still stuck with me because of how bloody good it was
Tokyo seems like a gold mine for cool guitars. I wanna go.
Burny Tokai Fernandes Edwards Greco are all ❤❤❤
Francisco Iñigo Garde Navigator as well, they’re just nicer Edwards after all
My favourite guitar is my Tokai Telecaster. Easily the best guitar I've had in terms of feel.
You should add FGN to that list.
don't forget the Orville's
also the maya, I have a strat maya and the quality of the wood is incredible. the body is of an alder piece.
I remember doing work experience in a guitar shop over 5 years ago that had loads of Burny guitars, but the entire time I thought they were called 'Bunny' guitars....I feel enlightened with this new found knowledge....
new shit has come to light
I've own a Greco Les Paul 1960 style. Amazing guitar with beautiful tone.

I too was lucky enough to find one of these "vintage" LP copies. Like the failure poster in the background. Such a great and underrated band
I just bought a Burny on Reverb, excited to feel and play it!!!
This looks and sounds sexy AF!!!!
I never heard a collector said a bad thing about Burny.
I have a 83 RR's Burny and it's a solid Guitar. Heavy as shit!
I have a White 1989 Orville by Gibson LP Custom it doesn't suck. It has now turned a buttercream color as it has aged. Looks alot like that Burny.
Got a 1986 Burny Les Paul, brand new, beautiful cherry burst. That thing rips!!!
Mad Season, this guy knows his stuff!
Did Fluff just make a Dad joke? “They are slightly left of center.” 🤣
Living in Japan rn and got one for around $400. It's a 1991 RLC-70 and although it's rough shape, the aged look gives it character and it still plays very well
I met you at the Tokyo Music Fair, I’m the guy from ZenZero. It was nice meeting you and chit-chat a bit. Great guitar you got there man, congrats! 🤘
I've had many of these and they're great. The most diserables are the one's with diamond headstock logo.
0:36 omg a good clean sound on riffs beards and gear!
I have the exact same one in black. So happy I bought a SG Standard in black too. Got both off eBay with free 2 or 3 day shipping. Both together came in for less than $1000. Just a couple of years ago. Better than any of my Gibsons.
The early 90's are the deal. The 80s ones are more expensive. Plus I love calling them my Bunnys
Be forewarned, the Customs come with rosewood not ebony. True across my 3 MIJ Gibson copies.
After searching for many, many years!! Took me about 10 minutes on the internet!
Got myself a 1979 Greco Les Paul Custom. It is all gold hardware like yours but its a burst instead of plain white! Love these guitars!
Long time Fernandes, Burny fan.
I had one very similar to yours. It was all mahogany. I ended up selling it to a friend who wouldn’t quit about wanting to buy it.
I kept my black one..it is just a bit better.
You are definitely a child of the 90's. I miss layne and mad season.

Ooh get her ;)
Nice of you to take a break from sniffing your own farts to let everybody know why youre single.
Now we know everyone love their own brand of farts.. you cant deny that. This guy sounds like he knows a thing or 2 about Burny guitars and is just setting some facts straight. In fact it sounds like he know way too much, thats why I believe him. :D
VH-1 Stickers on the pickup frames ...
If I'd known one more fact the Yakuza would kill me. I swear.
Im had one! lovely lovely! now I have a '94 Orville LP standard... honestly even better!
Cudos to the Mad Season. Nice guitar too.
Guitar Center has that 2019 Gibson SG down to $899 which I would buy if I didn't already own the TOKAI.
and in Tokyo..... There is a street with like 3 city blocks of just guitar shops. What are you talking about
ty berard are you referring to Ochanomizu Street? I bought my Edwards Les Paul there last year. Such a sweet and bad ass guitar..!!
then you know what Im talking about. A guitarist's deam and nightmare. Next time I go Im a bring 15 grand just for that purpose. Got a Burny LPB 80 on eBay for under three hundred and lm blown away. It’s like a time capsule and it’s so cool. It’s become my favorite out of 12 really nice basses.
Hey, thanks for playing River of Deceit! Been trying to learn that one.
Congrats on the guitar. Its exciting buying something you've been looking for, for a long time. I bet you're playing it all the time.

Ordered my John Sykes Burny Les Paul Custom today!!
its nice to hear a description without a British accent LOL Great info Thanks
Lots of people think the burny its better than the original, also if my luthier says it is because its true
I have two Burny Les Paul, the black beauty and the cream Les Paul, both amazing guitars.
If you like the Burny you definitely need to check out FGN. I've got 2 of them, a gold top and a black custom. Exceptional Les Paul style guitars.
I'm looking seriously at the Edwards E-LP-130CD seems like one of the best Japanese custom copies.
Edwards Les Pauls are the "Shit your pants" kind of guitars. Brilliant LPs.
Bacchus and Navigator would like to have a word with you.
Navigator is a nice dream... a dream way out of my budget... but if i had the chance i would take it over any Gibson hahahaha.
Go for it! Edwards are by far the best LPC copies produced in series right now and with a QC Gibson should have a look at.
Edwards and Navigator and Killer and ESP Brands guys ;)
What is this, Ryan?! 0:38 ACTUAL "clean" clean tones?! Finally! You did it! Love your vids, not a fan of your definition of "clean" tone. ;) Glad you bought this one! Sounds amazing.
Fluff: complains guitarists are too conservative
also Fluff: reviews les paul guitar

I was in Japan recently. I saw a bunch of BC Rich copies in a Nagoya guitar shop made by Burny. Yellow mockingbirds with red dots! It was crazy!
Love the Mad Season cover and Failure poster on the wall. We should be friends.
I can't believe anyone else knows how great those guitars are!! Nice video bro!
Love my 1977 Aria Pro Les Paul custom in tobacco burst.
My best LP is my 1981 Ibanez AR50. Love it to bits.
Cream coloured les Paul’s are gorgeous
My pain is self chosen, MAD SEASON!!!!
I had a 1990. Perfect for post rock and alternative music. Don't really know what to say about the overdrive, but that thing sounds sweet!
I have a burny lc70rr from 1985 perfect guitar. Perfect copy.
I’ve been trying to find one in good shape for the last 3 or 4 years. That one looks awesome!
She's a beauty alright

You've inspired me to follow my GAS! Burny Custom purchased. Awaiting delivery!!!
Duuude! Made me happy hearing River Of Deciet. Mad Season is one of my favorites, ever. Nice work!
I knew you would be looking out for one of these in Japan. Nice find, Fluff! I'm jealous!
I grabbed one of these MIJ ones in black for $250 a couple years back. It's an amazing guitar and won't be going anywhere.
At 0:36, sick overdrive tone bro
All the Burny Guitars I've ever had the occasion to play were EXTREMELY WELL BUILT. I have to say that I only ever played Japanese Burny guitars, I don't know anything about Burny guitars of another country.
I love the Mad Season riffs you opened up with!
Great find! Makes you think that another manufacturer can make something most likely better and cheaper, too!
I’ve wanted to get one of the Burny Les Paul customs for years, they do one with a Floyd and Sustainer that I seriously love
I got a 2010 Agile AL-3000 with a hardcase for $200 Canadian and it plays like a dream, so if you can find one I’d highly recommend trying one out
Being primarily an Asian guitar guy (mostly Japanese) I can't honestly see why you WOULDN'T make a video on it. Georgous!! It's weird how well they make American copies. I have an 80s Fernandes tele that all the old tele country guys drool over.
I have a newer (Chinese) Burny and it's great... I know the Japanese are best but some of the others are pretty good as well
Love the mad season jam!!
I just bought me a Burny Triple Pickup SG and it sounds better than any Gibson I’ve picked up.
Got one for a moment, RLC90 tobacco burst, awesome sound, had to refret it, added the MOP it lacked, but had to sell it. Waaaaay too heavy, about 12 lbs...
Mad Season. Big props.
I actually just bought a 1990 RLC 70 black custom before I found this video. I do love the Cream custom, almost snagged one. But the black/gold combo is just my favorite. Can't wait to see how it stacks up against my beloved Gibson Trad Pro ii w/ Floyd.
River of Deceit! Love that song. Love the guitar, too. Thanks for the video, Fluff!
i own 2 gibsons both of which i love, but my buddy came across a black 91 burny custom and gave me a killer deal on it,& i have to say im not only impressed, i love it, its certainly on par with my gibbys, if not better. never see them, kind of wild lol
I have a Yamaha sg 800 from 1970/80 and it was 80000 yen when my dad bought it for me. The same naming convention!
That mad season album is flawless.
