@WatchdogMom2 I'm 66 and gotta have my soul, classic, disco music everyday. I love my Marvin Gaye too! I'm disabled now and music sure keeps my spirits alive!
I just saw this and I thought of my son who past away 15 years ago at the age of 27 I am telling you, his age is out of all the music he would listen to. This was one of his favorite.
I was almost 2 in 1972. This was played on my Dads stereo. Mom and Dad slow dancing on shag carpet me dancing in my crib!!🤣🤣🤣🤣. My dad just got home from Vietnam.
Three days before I turned 12, this show was broadcast. It's amazing that after 45 years, I am now 57, and this song still sounds as fresh and new as it did back then! The soundtrack of my life!
Love this song! Makes me tear up everytime I hear it. All human beings seek love and romance. Most of us have had our hearts broken, we've all lost someone we love, either because they stopped loving us, or they passed on to the otherside. Love who you love as much as you can while you have a chance to do so. Life is fickle, the human heart even more so. Have a great day.
Yes it's a great song but jeez aren't you a little pretentious there. And wound in this was just a you know a pop song a little more so than usual have you ever listen to How Can You Mend a Broken Heart
it dont happen often but this is a prime example.... live performance blows the doors off the studio version...man he brings it home here... judging by the look on his face he knew it....
He was so very sexy. I love his facial expressions and gestures, he sings about true love and with so much emotion, that he makes you feel it. And wow was he a total knockout back then, look at that lovely body, what a gorgeous, sweet, beautiful sexy man!
Happy 76th Birthday today April 13, 2022 to the great Al Green, born April 13, 1946. Al Green is one of the most enduring soul singers of the rock era, and is considered by many the most important male singer since Sam Cooke. He has also been referred to as "The Last of the Great Soul Singers." His early 70s work on Hi Records sounds as good today as it did then, and his legend has continued to grow over the past quarter century even as he generally turned his back on popular music. Green is the winner of 11 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also received the BMI Icon award and is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient. He was included in the Rolling Stone list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, ranking at No. 65, as well as its list of the 100 Greatest Singers, at No. 14.
This is a man who knows that his voice is an instrument from the Creator and he uses it to its full potential. In doing so he evokes very deep emotions in those blessed enough to hear him. Watching him perform is even more of a blessing than just listening to him.
I graduated from High School I'm 1971, so this is right down my alley. Black Sabbath was too, and Jose Feliciano and Long John Baldry and Cream. What an amazing time.
Reverend Al is the gold standard for vocalists; untouchable. Show this to all contestants on American Idol, X-factor, The Voice, the "got talent" shows then hand them a brochure for skilled trades training at the local community college so they don't waste anyone's time.
this is style. this is tremendous, extraordinary. this is a masterpiece not only for his voice, also his singing style. He lives in the song, he lives in the feelings which this song creates...
Wow what soul brother. I remember as a kid. Pulled off a reservation in the 60s and put in a housing projects. we had our tribal songs. These brothers taught us something so good to the soul it was a easy transformation to soul music. The 60s and 70s the great spirit sent us a whole bunch of this spiritual singers this is one of them. Some day I'm meet this man. He reminds me of the kids I grew up with. Thanks posting and thank you for all the love al green.
This song is the one that made me fall in love with him, when I was 13 yrs old , been loving his music ever since, have all the 45's, albums now CD's & Gospel CD's !!!! His music just makes me HAPPY !!!!!!
#1. I think it's funny that the audience was so casual in their response to this performance. I'da been jumping up and down screaming! #2. 42 years ago (2014), seriously!?! And boy was he so cool. #3. This man didn't sing enough. He could've released albums singing nursery rhymes and sold millions.
I remember when I first heard this, Think it was 1971 in the UK. A little village called Idle, Yorkshire the White Swan Pub. The juke box was in the pool room so it was Ideal for us under age. Holding my pint of mixed I stood at the the juke box trying to choose between Bernadette by the Four Tops or Shotgun by Jr. Walker but somehow I was enticed to Tired of Being Alone. The moment the intro started I was hooked
I’m a 25 year old Mexican-American that grew up in a predominantly Mexican area. My older bro used to play Al Green weekend mornings when he would wash his car. Brings great memories. Waking up, stepping outside, sun rays hitting my skin, and Al Green bumping out of my brothers Lincoln. Proud to be a young fella and vibe to Al Green like if I was 60 something haha.
14 yrs. old when this was recorded and crazy about Al Green!! Who remembers the Right On magazines? I had pictures of Al all over the bedroom wall, can't say my wall, I was sharing with 4 other sisters. 😊
face expressions ❤💕 shared this one 11 years ago on my fb, because I thought I liked the song. today, all those years later I look at this young Al and I think I understand... see and feel so much more! what a talent! what a performance!!
Miss her, her soul, loving heart, beauty was unmatched , grew up alone but never felt lonely , didn’t know loneliness until she stopped talking to me. She has her reasons , a lot of past hurt , trauma, whoever hurt her , changed her to -close themselves up, push away… she called me a good man , then pushed me away. God I pray for her everyday, wish her love, hope God gives her peace in that amazing beautiful heart and soul of hers.

As a child I was on the front row of our church that he would visit from time to time, Memphis was only 55 miles away. Standing room only, even people outside looking in the windows.
I know if you research it it will come back that i keep coming back to this song..I truly believe that if they re released this song it would be a number 1 hit.I don't care if you are black, white brown or yellow..everyone can feel and understand this song.
Al Green has always been a great soul singer. He was handsome and had a great body. I've always loved this song. Tired of being alone. Have a great evening.
Al Geen is my generations Otis Redding!! A friend of mine turned me on to Al during the summer of 1973. I was 15 years old and pretty much a rocker. How could anybody who's a music fanatic not love Al!! Too bad his label mate Ann Peebles never reached such heights. I learned about her from Tom Petty's Buried Treaure show.
How is it possible that songs like this inspires someone to be the best you can be ?? This is art man... My mission is to show songs like this to every person i know.... If it changed me it can change anyone... Greetings from Cali, Colombia.

The absolute BEST performance of this song, can never get enough of it ….. natural God given talent!
If only our current generation of musicians could understand what real music truly is!
There’s plenty of good musicians these days. You’re missing out on a lot of good music if you’re not listening to it.

Beautifully said.
So beautiful.
Never gets old.
The problem back then was that this quality of music was normal.
The drummer's feel is extraordinary in this performance. It makes Al Green smile with joy near the beginning.
He better be right, he’s another James Brown, you hit the wrong key. He will
make you pay for it Al is a perfectionist to the highest.
He was born with that gift ~~~one of a kind
