Al Green’s song saved my marriage during my postpartum depression and my husband’s cocaine addiction in early 80s while I immigrated from Korea to U.S by marrying an American . His soothing voice and heart wrenching lyrics was the my best medication during the horrible marriage and we are still happily married after 40 years with five children .
Music is therapeutic. It has a way to our hearts and soul, even when we're in our darkest times. I'm glad you and your husband are "still" happy together. Wishing you many more to come!! 👏
Im 61 years old, and I can listen to this and be this young 17 year old woman all over again, with my long hair and bell bottoms, Large gold hoops in my ears, always had a warm smile to offer back then, Warm smiles in return, Man it was a beautiful time.
Whatever is going on in my life, I can listen to Al, and immediately become happy and in a good mood. It seems like he was a reverend before he became a reverend!

Right, I’ve been single for a long time and I love listening to Al Green and imagine and feel the love he sings about. I’ll get up and dance by myself. My teenage years were in the 70’s, best ever.
I’m currently 26, but listening to this bring back so many good memories ❤️ This is all my mama used to play around the house on a Saturday morning while cleaning up. Till this day, we still do. I just love me some Al Green. There’s something about music back in those days, that just touches the soul 🙌🏽 It gives me chills…
It was true music that had a great feel & meaning nothing vulgar at all that's why this kind of music will never go out of style it was all about love and a lot of kids where born thanks to guys like him Otis the temptations the entire gambit of that genre was outstanding still to this day
Al Green is like a family member we played them every day all day cuz my mama had family over every single day playing cards poker fish fry Sunday dinners I love my little cousins the loves playing around like it ain't no tomorrow just loving life the 70s 80s that's what it was all about man how I miss my family
I’m 36, separated from my husband a few days now. I remember when my mom used to listen to Al Green while drinking her beer and cleaning up when I was younger. His voice was always so therapeutic to me like he could fix anything she was doing through. I’m so thankful for music that really speak to the soul. Love Al Green
I love y'all's comments, just not true. As a musician I lived those days playing on nightclub stages, enjoying the fun. Enjoying college and hanging out with friends from different races combating in our own way the rampant racism that existed at the time. I also fought on the front lines to relieve our community from a very unjustified systemic unnecessary racist practice. Born in 1952 I lived all the Jim crow practices that were meted out. I loved and enjoyed my white friends and acquaintances and never regretted doing so. But I can't blink out what was the reality. But our country has made it through some very tough times, with African Americans living the brunt and the worst of it. The majority of Americans are really good. But we allow the minority of evil doers (like Trump)rule the narrative. As long as we let em, they will continue instead of hiding. We must make them go back into hiding. Goodness is on the rise. 😊
👁️ am 60 years of age and have been listening to this Man since in the Womb🤨 ..But WTH are you talking about No Prejudice and No Racism Back then 🤔..And Yes 👁️am a BLACK MAN 🤨!!
Omg... My Mom played this album all the time!! I used to sit there rocking on the couch falling asleep with this music in the background. I am glad my Mother had good taste in music!! I have passed it on to my kids.🥰
LOL my Daughter loves my music too. But there was this one Al Green song that I would blast. In the morning when she wouldn't get up for School. And I would jump on her bed. Half of her was laughing. But the other half was "Mom stop. Leave me alone." And she would try to cover her head. But be laughing at the same time. Worked like a charm. 🤣
@@maureenspano6988 Awe girl thanks for sharing that story you’re gonna make me cry. My Mother passed away in February of 1991 and (her Dad) my Paw-Paw passed away in January 1991. I was close to both. It just makes me reminisce of all those good times.😔❤️
I’m an old soul. Been listening to delta blues since I was in high school, but the day roughly about 5 years ago when I first heard Al sing, “Let’s Stay Together” it shined a light upon my soul that I’ll keep with me till the day I truly rest in the ground and become a tree to grow silently in peace and love
I was a teen, when I first heard Al Green, didn't understand what these songs were abt. Until my late 20s started understanding this shit,@ 68 really relating bc I have lived through what he is singing abt.😅😅😅lol
I'm a 66-year-old hard rocker and have always had love for Rev. Al Green. It may not seem like the obvious choice for someone with my musical taste, but being from the Mississippi River Delta region in Louisiana, there’s no way I could avoid it. His music is timeless. Rev. Al Green has a natural, amazing voice and he’s one of the best singers ever.
Currently in 2023 and lovin' it more than ever. Truly gifted and recognized that it was better to glorify God with his gift. But there is an anointing on his secular music too. It really comforts my soul. In H.S. I played keyboard with a local band. We played the top 20 with several Al Green songs in the mix. Our lead singer was a gifted imitator. I hope to one day visit his church in Memphis. Praising God for your gift. Continued Blessings Pastor Green. 🙏💚🙏
I saw him when I was 50 something. I'm 61. Been loving me some al green since I was 15 ... he's getting old like me but still got it. Love me some Al Green

What a beautiful "dead on" memory ESPECIALLY with our culture!!.. The pressing of your sisters hair!!... YASSSSSS! ✊ I have that SAME memory! 😊 Good bless your mama and mine as well.. They may be gone.. But NEVER forgotten! ❤️

@@melissaonorati2243 Girl, I think your soul is good but your ideology is bad, why? It's an assumption (made by media) unless if you did see that in real time by your naked eyes. In addition, even if what you mentioned is true that's doesn't mean he's not a great artist (I'm against physical, emotional & verbal violence but being artistic or talente is completely different from your behavior. BTW, wish ya best partner(emotional life) & career(life pathway)
@Pau Woo I didn't say anything bad about his music. I said he was a great entertainer. I love his music. I also love Bill Withers' music. I'm just saying that if you are going to be a pastor, which Al was (and this was mentioned in the original comment), I hope to see you exemplify God's relationship with the church the best you can in your own marriage. We all make mistakes, but a pattern of abuse isn't the same in my eyes. I'd say we agree on liking his music, and I'm still firm on my stance on his personal choices whether you agree or not. Pastor or not, I still believe domestic violence should be something you should work on not perpetuating as a person, and would hope people take ownership and work on themselves so not to hurt others... but especially so if you say you have been moved by God's love. Practice what you preach. Sorry if you were upset by my comment, but I think if there are victims whether it is the woman/wife, or children who are witnesses to this violence, I cannot say "none of my business." Abuse is not a joke. Though I am in the social work/mental health field, any adult has a duty to report if there are children involved.
I'm 50 and from Texas. I grew up with my dad introduced me to motown. Al was always my favorite. My kids now know his music and sing along with me in the car
I'm 80 years old but this 70s compilation makes me feel like I'm 20 again! I couldn't help but sway to the rhythm! 🎶A lot of the songs take me back to specific places and people I was with at the time.😘

I am here sitting in the Rehabilitation Center with my Uncle who broke his hip and he has Dementia. I turned this on and he is tapping his feet. It's bringing him back to life. Thanks Rev. Al. I am 57 and my parents used to play his music
The Minister of Soul -- Al Green is a national treasure. The sound he and Willie Mitchell captured in the '70s is a landmark in sound recording. My faves are "I'm Still in Love With You" and "Love and Happiness." I'm as white as can be, but The Reverend Al's classic era is as good as music gets. The playback device doesn't discriminate based on color.
I’m 43, and lost my 65 year old mom in 2021! These songs bring back good memories of her! She loved drankin her Shlitz Bulls. Always would play these songs when she was cleaning, or sitting outside! I sure miss her! Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🙂

love me some Al Green
Anyone who can sing like this is truly a gift from God!!!
😊
Everything is going to be ok sis 🙌
Sending healing and protective energy ✨️ 💓 💖

So True
Thank you very much that's what I was doing cleaning house and I'm 60 years old
Pure perfection. Im almost 70 and my husband a die hard fan of Al Greens turned 77 today. Thank you Al !!!!
Still the same awesome music - reminds me of the greatest decade of music ever - the 70’s!!
I grew up listening to the likes. There was no prejudice. Just good music. He's a favorite. Still listening at 65.
Same here. I'll be 71 next month (Sept., '24) ! Racism didn't exist. 😊💯👏👏👏

I had a good friend, and he and I would listen to this whole album! Al Green is a. AMERICAN TREASURE!
All his music is reflecting on life and love
I am 74 years of age. And I can truly say al is all wright. Now this is music...even young men listen to his music
Omg... My Mom played this album all the time!! I used to sit there rocking on the couch falling asleep with this music in the background. I am glad my Mother had good taste in music!! I have passed it on to my kids.🥰
Boosie G still bump it to this day and
I love al green he don't miss a beat 🥰🥰
Good for you, my mother played the blues and calypso music, used to make me wanna jump off a building.
Beautiful! There's definitely old souls walking around. How else would the past truly be preserved 😉
❤❤ same (except I live in the UK 🇬🇧) ❤❤
It would only be a shame to say you listen to music of any time and not know of Al Green!
66 also👊

Love him and. Barry White and there's another can't think of his name. Lol
Makes me think of happier days
You & me both!!
🙏💚🙏
Can't go wrong with this kind of music all day long❤😂🎉
Whoever put this album together, has it going on!! I love all the songs. Thank You.

It wasn't my easiest decade to survive but omg the music and the wonderful people I met along the way. We partied and danced in parks and outdoor concerts. It was an amazing time.

Al Green helps me through a lot of sad time I love you
My parents loved Al Green, growing up at 5 years old, I thought this music was depressing. Now I can’t get enough of it.
Hello dear,how are you doing?
Im 64 and still in love with it😊

Al was my pastor and he is the greatest entertainer that ever stepped out on that stage.
Agreed a great entertainer... but to say you love God then continue to beat your wife

Al Green is one of the greatest, his music is classic and with happiness
yes, his music is full of happiness, hope, and love. its still there too.
I'm 50 and from Texas. I grew up with my dad introduced me to motown. Al was always my favorite. My kids now know his music and sing along with me in the car
Ooo...Here I am Baby', that's one of my favorite Al Green jams. Yeah, sang Al, sang!
I'm 80 years old but this 70s compilation makes me feel like I'm 20 again! I couldn't help but sway to the rhythm! 🎶A lot of the songs take me back to specific places and people I was with at the time.😘

If you didn't listen to Al Green and I'm 54 sorry, but you didn't have a radio ( TNS)
