We only know the rough outline. Nothing has been really fleshed out. GOT S5 til S8 were also written based on a rough outline... and we know how that ended up.

I want to see Robert's Rebellion with full details more than I want the end of the books, so many iconic moments and characters. I just hope they don't antagonize house Targaryen as brutal tyrants to favour the Starks as good guys like they did on the show. Martin characters are not so shallow.
I think something like Dunk and Egg would be good as a animated series. The same thing with GOT if they ever remake it in the future (If GRRM ever finishes the books), it would be better as a animated series. Robert's Rebellion will be perfect as a miniseries on HBO. Characters we already know and love, so many things can be done in full detail like you mentioned, the dialogue and spectacle will be on point. There is no way it can go wrong, unless they hire people with no talent or passion for the project.

Agreed, look at rogue one for example. Everyone knew that everyone in the movie was gonna die and what it would lead to. The journey and storytelling is what is important and overall Rogue one was well received due to its execution.

I’m excited. If I could pick 5 shows for HBO to make, it would be these in this order. Roberts Rebellion, the long night, dunk n Egg, Aegons conquest. I would also love to see the rise of Valeria and the empire of the dawn. Just saying.
This is literally all I really wanted. This story line is so fascinating, we and go a in depth look on Ned's and Robert's characters. Also we must see how Rhaegar grew up or at least get some flashbacks and how his obsession with Azor Ahai came about. We'll like get to enjoy the lannisters storyline again with Jaime, Tywin, and Cersei coming back. I hope this get's cleared, I can't wait!
I would love to see a mini series on the Greyjoy Rebellion. You could have the young Ned from the flashback play Ned in this since he would be like 10 years older. Young Jaime Lannister fighting alongside Northerners like Jorah Mormont. Thoros of Myr charging with his flaming sword. In the finale you could have a 10 year old Theon go off with Ned and meeting a young Robb and Jon.
I can't wait to see Lyanna and Rhaegar on screen, but I would love to know more about House Dayne too, Ashara and Arthur Dayne are both very interesting and mysterious characters.
HBO can simply extend 'House of the Dragon' to include the conquest of Aegon the Conqueror, Maegor the Cruel, the Dance of the Dragons, the Blackfyre rebellions, Dunk and Egg, and Robert's Rebellion if they do Robert's Rebellion, then they should focus on Rhaegar from his birth at Summerhall during the tragedy that killed Aegon V and Duncan the Tall and the rebellion at Duskendale and the tourney at Harrenhall etc.

"Robert's Rebellion", I'm fine with. But I DO NOT think it is a good idea to snare "Dunk and Egg" before the books are finished being written. It would break my heart if "Dunk and Egg" turned out that way, for the same reason. So many backstories can be filled-in, increasing the potency of many GoT characters. A better move than the Targaryen-centric `House of the Dragon’, since we’re starting at the end, and going backwards..Anecdotes, and legends from `Robert’s Rebellion’ can set the stage for HoD.

I just finished watching got for the first time since s8 finished (I’ve watched the previous seasons MAAANY times, but I needed a little brake to take the last season in) and these news makes me very excited! As you say, I will watch everything set in George’s world cause it’s so darn amazing!!
I think they definitely should do a Roberts rebellion as much as they talk about the mad king I’m sure fans wanna see it and a young Robert. And I believe part of the reason game of thrones ended so badly was the lack of material and Was left with D&D imagination to fuk it up , plenty of material for roberts rebellion
Not mentioned in this video, but pretty sure that prior to this, HBO did not have the rights to the Robert's Rebellion story. So they must have made an awful sweet deal with Martin for that content. It makes sense to me to pursue this one because non readers already have a frame of reference and being of comparable time, so much has already been worked out in terms of literal world-building. Knowing the story in advance is no deterrent for me. A tie-in from the Rome series would be excellent as that show was really underrated.
GRRM looks like he lost some weight, good for him, we need him alive as long as humanly possible. I'm still waiting for the final halfblood chronicles stuck in probate limbo.
I have been dreaming of this! It's the sequel that makes more sense because the audience know the characters already (Robert, Ned, Barristan,...) and there are so many things to tell during that time! I want more Arthur Dayne and I want the Tourney of Harrenhal on screen

It would be cool if during a series from the past, the 3 eyed raven while viewing the past sees bran also viewing at the same time giving the raven access to what Bran has seen and Therefore peering into the future. I would LOVE a new full series, but if done properly a good mini series would be great too! You can tell a good story in 10-12 episodes, for instance look at Band of Brothers, could do a Dunk and Egg series that way?
I would love to see Robert's Rebelion! It makes total sense to make it, they have actors, costumes, no need for dragons, dire wolves and White Walkers (which makes the show expensive) and in Robert's Rebelion there wouldn't be too many Targaryens. I liked the last season of GoT, and I liked the ending, and I would definitely prefer Robert's Rebelion to Targaryen incest and war of dragons.

Yes I want Roberts rebellion, animated or not. So many amazing battles and sir Arthur dayne the sword of the morning: illest swordsman in Westeros. Until John Snow becomes an adult of course. Raegar vs Robert at the trident, so many ill battles and stories I want to see in this era of got.
Why Can't HBO and George R.R Martin rehire the original cast and shoot 1 more final season and Start it with Bran waking out of a trance? Like season 8 was him seeing just a version of what could happen and really fix it... I can Dream right? 😔😔😔
That whole thing is done. The only way it can be done in the future when GRRM hopefully finishes all the books is by animating the series. They can then do more episodes and be close to as detailed as the books. It can run for years. You won't have to worry about young actors growing up too quickly (Bran and Arya in the show). CGI budget won't be an issue, so more direwolves, dragons, children of the forest, giants and white walkers in all their glory.
I really liked the idea that didn't work out of an ancient Westeros history show, especially if it's storyline was endorsed by GRRM and based on his ideas. Would have been great to know what the truth behind the myths are.

If you ask me HBO should just say “screw you Benioff and Weiss” and green light a sequel series to Game of Thrones with new show runners. We all know season 8 was extremely divisive and HBO lost half their subscriber base when the show ended and there’s a lot material they could work with. HBO knows they could’ve gone more seasons with this. I personally rather see that than prequels.
I hope this one takes off . I’ve always thought much could be explained through the events of roberts rebellion . I hope of this is done they go a few years before the event and cast actors that fit the profile . This would be awesome !
I would not mind a show on Robert's Rebellion, but only after the books are over. There's so much unknown that particular story, especially with the Tower of Joy and all that. There's also the fact that all the projects would just take more time away from GRRM from finishing the series.
Sad to say I'm one of the people that can't separate these works from Game of Thrones. And it is indeed difficult to care knowing that everything does lead to season 8. The whole reason why Robert's Rebellion occurs, ultimately doesn't matter one bit. Jon's parentage, Rhaegar and Lyanna's loves, Ned keeping the secret. I'm just hoping, though the chances are slim to none, that everything they do with House of the Dragon and the shows that come after, all lead to a Game of Thrones reboot. Do House of the Dragon, make Robert's Rebellion and Dunk and Egg, those shows would be on for years, then do the Age of Heroes with the first Long Night, and after all that, many years from now, remake GOT.
I would like the see a show following the ending of game of thrones, and see what's west of westeros and why is Jon moving back upward beyond the wall and what could that look like.
Dunk & Egg for sure. We are getting some fire hows bout some ice. I would still love a Northern dominant tale. Maybe the start of the Nights watch and the northern houses origin stories. Mayhaps some giants, Dire wolves, and Ice dragons. Tales of the first men and those wars pre others and the houses we know, that would be interesting to go all the way back start from the beginning. At this point I really would be game for just about any GRRM lore driven series.

I have heard many writers say only become a writer if you have a story that you have to get out of you if you don’t do something else. It is clear GRRM want to do anything other than finish ASOIF. He does not have any interest in finishing the story of aSOIF

So many backstories can be filled-in, increasing the potency of many GoT characters. A better move than the Targaryen-centric `House of the Dragon’, since we’re starting at the end, and going backwards..Anecdotes, and legends from `Robert’s Rebellion’ can set the stage for HoD.

I would prefer Dunc & Egg over Robert's Rebellion. Though Dunc & Egg is a great precursor to RR.

And I believe part of the reason game of thrones ended so badly was the lack of material and Was left with D&D imagination to fuk it up , plenty of material for roberts rebellion

Not mentioned in this video, but pretty sure that prior to this, HBO did not have the rights to the Robert's Rebellion story. So they must have made an awful sweet deal with Martin for that content. It makes sense to me to pursue this one because non readers already have a frame of reference and being of comparable time, so much has already been worked out in terms of literal world-building. Knowing the story in advance is no deterrent for me. A tie-in from the Rome series would be excellent as that show was really underrated.
As much as I want to see Robert in his prime, I'd be even more interested in Ser Bariston and Young 2 handed Jaime.
GRRM looks like he lost some weight, good for him, we need him alive as long as humanly possible.

It would be cool if during a series from the past, the 3 eyed raven while viewing the past sees bran also viewing at the same time giving the raven access to what Bran has seen and Therefore peering into the future. Seeing how the "show ends" he makes adjustments to avoid it, henceforth changing how GOT ended. New timeline!!! Do it do it!

I would LOVE a new full series, but if done properly a good mini series would be great too! You can tell a good story in 10-12 episodes, for instance look at Band of Brothers, could do a Dunk and Egg series that way?
I would love to see Robert's Rebelion! It makes total sense to make it, they have actors, costumes, no need for dragons, dire wolves and White Walkers (which makes the show expensive) and in Robert's Rebelion there wouldn't be too many Targaryens. I liked the last season of GoT, and I liked the ending, and I would definitely prefer Robert's Rebelion to Targaryen incest and war of dragons.

Yes I want Roberts rebellion, animated or not. So many amazing battles and sir Arthur dayne the sword of the morning: illest swordsman in Westeros. Until John Snow becomes an adult of course. Raegar vs Robert at the trident, so many ill battles and stories I want to see in this era of got.
Why Can't HBO and George R.R Martin rehire the original cast and shoot 1 more final season and Start it with Bran waking out of a trance? Like season 8 was him seeing just a version of what could happen and really fix it... I can Dream right? 😔😔😔

That whole thing is done. The only way it can be done in the future when GRRM hopefully finishes all the books is by animating the series. They can then do more episodes and be close to as detailed as the books. It can run for years. You won't have to worry about young actors growing up too quickly (Bran and Arya in the show). CGI budget won't be an issue, so more direwolves, dragons, children of the forest, giants and white walkers in all their glory.

If you ask me HBO should just say “screw you Benioff and Weiss” and green light a sequel series to Game of Thrones with new show runners. We all know season 8 was extremely divisive and HBO lost half their subscriber base when the show ended and there’s a lot material they could work with. HBO knows they could’ve gone more seasons with this. I personally rather see that than prequels.
I hope this one takes off . I’ve always thought much could be explained through the events of roberts rebellion . I hope of this is done they go a few years before the event and cast actors that fit the profile . This would be awesome !

I would not mind a show on Robert's Rebellion, but only after the books are over. There's so much unknown that particular story, especially with the Tower of Joy and all that. There's also the fact that all the projects would just take more time away from GRRM from finishing the series.
Sad to say I'm one of the people that can't separate these works from Game of Thrones. And it is indeed difficult to care knowing that everything does lead to season 8. The whole reason why Robert's Rebellion occurs, ultimately doesn't matter one bit. Jon's parentage, Rhaegar and Lyanna's loves, Ned keeping the secret. I'm just hoping, though the chances are slim to none, that everything they do with House of the Dragon and the shows that come after, all lead to a Game of Thrones reboot. Do House of the Dragon, make Robert's Rebellion and Dunk and Egg, those shows would be on for years, then do the Age of Heroes with the first Long Night, and after all that, many years from now, remake GOT.

We are getting some fire hows bout some ice. I would still love a Northern dominant tale. Maybe the start of the Nights watch and the northern houses origin stories. Mayhaps some giants, Dire wolves, and Ice dragons.
Tales of the first men and those wars pre others and the houses we know, that would be interesting to go all the way back start from the beginning. At this point I really would be game for just about any GRRM lore driven series.

I have heard many writers say only become a writer if you have a story that you have to get out of you if you don’t do something else. It is clear GRRM want to do anything other than finish ASOIF. He does not have any interest in finishing the story of aSOIF
