I have a good question. Someone I know said this was possible. Fat Shark can project the image from the goggles to the TV - right? Can it also project the TV image in the goggles? I am just thinking you would technically have a $200 oculus rift for TV based games.
Great review Bruce. Have you gotten up close and personal with those goggles yet? I am buying a pair of Fatsharks very soon and still in the research phase. Predator V2 are a nice price for starting in FPV and I like that there are not a lot of bells and whistles which I won't be needing like head track (I'm flying a stock P2 with Zenmuse and GoPro). My only issue now is pic quality. I watched another review comparing Dominator and Predator and he said the plastic optics was ilk looking through an old plexiglass window while the Doms were like looking through a clean polished glass wind. Do you think it is work the extra $$ for pic quality alone if you have no intention of using the extras that come with the Attitudes or Dominators?? Thanks from Canada eh!
Have you got your new white FatSharks yet? Just saw them while ordering my Attitude VS combo from getfpv. Thanks for all the great videos, even if they have helped me in spending all my money HA!
Hi ! I'm new in the hobby and I am trying to find my first FPV setup ... I was thiking to get a Fatshark attitude V2 or predator V2... What do you think ? Thank you !
Wondering if anyone can help me. I already have a monitor display and am now looking into getting some fatshark goggles. I see that the fatshark attitude gogles have an AV in/out jack. If i connected the moniotr to the goggles via an AV cable would that allow me to view the live feed on the goggles and the monitor simultaneously? Or would it cancel one out so i can only view on one of the other?
To RCModelReviews: I purchased the FatShark Attitude SD glasses in hopes of hooking them up with my new Phantom 2 Vision, but I'm hearing they are not compatible. I've seen videos where they work with the other Phantoms and was wondering how or if they can be used with the Attitudes. Using my cell phone is ok, but like most cell phones, you can hardly see the screen to watch in FPV when outside. I want to experience the full FPV affect and be able to fly my P2V from inside my house, inside my car or inside a fish house when it is too cold outside. I love your reviews and was hoping to see if these goggles are compatible with the attitudes and if there is a way to make them work. Thanks
I'm fairly new to DJI Phantom flying. Have recently added a GoPro but am not happy with watching on the screen. Would like to try FPV, but wear glasses to see close & far. Do you think I could use the FatShark system?
they do have the white v3 out now, as I'm sure you know by now, and I really like the next wave race receiver it has 4 bands. Picks up most transmitters. oh, and to the guy asking about glasses and fatshark goggles, I saw Steele Davis do a video on special replacement lenses made by an optometrist that also flies FPV. just thought I'd throw that out there, I saw it the other day on Facebook, but they're really good about thing their stuff on UA-cam. Thanks for all the help, really enjoy your videos.
Did my first FPV with the Skyzone googles and I had a good time, will you soon make a test on the HD ones from FATSHARK cos I would like to know if they're more immersive than the Skyzone. love your videos.cheers.
These would be amazing to have. I don't fly RC aircraft and instead I'd love to use these for some creature costume ideas. Would I have to use a wireless video feed or would I be able to hook it up wired to a camera? I've heard of others using a similar hook up with different video glasses and having to walk blind due to interference from other wireless signals in a convention defeating the purpose of fixing blind spots.
Hiya Bruce, can you please tell me how you keep your goggles from fogging up? I saw the bluesky guys saying to punch holes in the rubber eye cups...but that approach worries me knowing the price of these goggles...keep up the great work, thanks
I bought a later version of the base 6 months ago now. They came with the hard zipped case. I really love the wide field of view, yes there is some chromatic aberration at the edges but as it is getting close to your periphery vision, in flight you do not notice it. I have put OSD info at the bottom and there is no distortion there. I live in a high humidity environment and they fog up bad unless I wear them for 10 minutes or so before flying. I also have the diopter at minimum so watch out.
You are the man! Call it as it is my friend. Love your reviews. I have a Turnigy 9x with er9x firmware on it. I have only been flying RC for just over a year and there are many things I do not know about computerized radios. Would like to see you do a segment on er9x mixing with curves and how they apply. For example on pusher airplanes, when throttle is applied the nose tends to go down and when reducing throttle the plane pitches up. Would love to mix elevator with throttle to over come this
Black to help prevent light penetration apparently. I live in West Aus and that's my one major problem with the fatsharks, they cook in the sun!!. I can't see why they can't paint over the black or even offer some type of clip on sun visor etc. And Lawmate receivers are you guessed it.... BLACK!!!. Most ground stations sit out in full sun... why are they black.... anyway, rant over.
Hi Bruce, could you shed a light on the sensitivity of the VRX in the Attitudes as compared to the 'older' Fat Sharks? You mentioned in your video that the newer models would be better, but does it apply to those Attitudes as well? I am asking because you can do the comparison and have the experience and I have a set of Attitudes incoming :) Thanks!
Hi Bruce, i bought the Dominators and did not expect the IPD to be a problem, but i think it must be (and before you say anything i'm not a crim :-) ) I find it hard to wear them comfortably and sometimes experience dizzyness so I don't really use them a whole lot! I also have that fat around the eyes and have a job shutting out the light without shutting off circulation!
Nice review :) I use Fat Shark Predators which are very much like the Dominators but the vRx isn't modular. I think the FOV is even narrower on the Predators. I like them but my only real beef is that I can't wear my prescription spectacles under the goggles & so the image is always blurry for me.. hard to read OSDs & the like.
it would be great for a person like ypurself to show how to setup the fat shark goggles what you need to put it on plane and how to connect it with transmitter on the ground, and get flying, when I buy product, we all need to know what we need for setup, and set it up and fly.... great watching ur vids
Bruce you must have been a harden criminal in your day! Burning ants! was that the beginning of your life of crime?LOL! I found my self in the mirror during the middle of this video and had to go back and rewind !NIce trick Bruce! LOL!
PS I wanted to see if you could do a bit on adding an antenna to a TX that does not have an ipx? connector. The HK and Ct6B has the 2.4ghz grey lead direct to pcb and can't distinguish the signal from shielding if the thin grey wire has a ground?
Ooh! That would be cool! I got the MiG head tracker to use with the base goggles just a week or so ago and we can't figure it out either. I read the entire support thread on FPVLAB. It seems like the problem is usually user error.
I do not know who it was but I seen a person that put a RC305 inside a old set of Fat Sharks base set he would not tell me how he did it but they worked good! have you seen this before? or know how to do it?
what can you do if you were far sighted where my eyes are sharp 2 ft and above only, when I tried my friends fat shark, I think I need reading glasses in front of it xD.
Umm.... My spironet antennas do NOT stay bent... Maybe that has something to do with my range being 300 yards and my video cutting out every 2 seconds on a 600mw transmitter w/ predator v2's...
I have Dominators and Love them, Also I have old Baggy eyes so I pull the head strap high on my head and it seems to fight the bags...Can't wait for the Fat Shark 2018 neural spine connector.
How does the sun damage look like? I bought a second hand FS base goggles and they have same shape white spots in the middle of both screens, is that sun damage?
I just got the latest foxtech Aio goggles Bruce and boy are they nice, no silly little eye cups that dig into the coner of your eyes they have a new wider black silicon shade that even allows you to wear your glasses at the same time if you need to , and of course they would work with all your FPV back packs . The resolution is fantastic , clear as a bell with no distortion . :)
Insanely informative review, loved it! I just picked up a Storm Drone-4 and mounted a GoPro to it, now I am looking at FPV and this video sold me. I was thinking just a video monitor for now but after looking at a few review I have learned that watching your ship in the air and trying to watch a video screen at the same time is, well, foolish. I will be ordering a set of fatsharks next week. Thanks for the vid!
Hi, I notice on fatshark website they will have some HD (svga) glasses coming out soon. Question is, can we TX/RX true HD quality video from our planes? I notice F1 race cars do this but are they useing mutiple (4) TX/RX to make one HD picture, or have they just got mega bucks and made their own HD TX/RX. Can we TX RX HD video yet? Perhaps I should say, can you? All the best Bruce, dont let the grumpy old men keep you down. They're out numbered and can be voted out...
Its simple only put the video out from your fpv rx to the video in on the splitter/booster and on the other side you have 4 video out where you put the yellow video cable from your fatshark or a screen or a dvr , you also have one screew for each channel so you can fine tune the signal quality of your video out you are using , the splitter uses 12 volt and you can use a 3 cell lipo to power it up , you only have to power each unit with the volt they need separately not with this unit
Hey Bruce, A few months ago I purchased my first pair of Fatsharks, They are the Dominators. They work but I don't love them...I am also using a 700TVL Cam so I cant enjoy the full quality either. I saw that Fatshark was coming out with an "HD" Line of goggles (Attitude, Dominators, Base) Do you know anything about that? Also how can I get dust off of my lens? I tried air but that doesn't work and I would prefer not to touch them. Thanks! Jake
Why black? Because if you're a 'dominator', your personal 'attitudes' just won't let you wear any color other than black! LOL! Light gray on top and white on the bottom might be a good shark motif. Silver would be a good reflective color also. Of course, if they started making ones that aren't black, the next thing you know, they'll have to start making PINK ones for the female flyers! LOL!
Those are BAD NEWS, way to fragile. Better move on to the Google glass. Better paint them or wrap them with aluminum tape, pull off the rubber eye gaskets and put your own foam around the perimeter, painful setup. What a LAME design, there should be internal shutters over the LCDs that automatically deploy when they are not on your head! Time to design your own and start your own company Bruce!
So in summary the "prefect" glasses should have: - several options of sun blocking eyepiece/eye cups: foam, rubber, silicon, stuffed cotton etc. - IPD adjustment - modular design for part swapping - automatic shades to protect LCD - glasses and casing be painted in german "silver metallic" (never gets hot, doesn't degrade over time, is more damage resistant than other paints, so I guess it'd be the best fit)
Very nice review. I sent you a copy of a news article that was on network news last evening here in the US, as well as the net, and newpapers. Went to queries at RCMODELREVIEWS. Yesterday a plane landing at JFK nearly hit a drone. The pilot reported a 3 foot drone, black incolor, and with 4 motors had come very close to his aircraft on his approach into JFK. The FBI has been called in to investigate.
Brilliant review (as always). I've not bought an FPV headset, as I need glasses. Do you use corrective lenses in the Fat Sharks, and do they work well? After seeing the Fat Sharks in detail in this video, I can see that it's not possible to wear glasses under the headsets. From reading the previous comments, it seems that this is a point of interest to a few glasses wearers! Keep up the great work.
I'm a total newbie on this. Want to get video glasses that allow me to watch movies and t.v. shows. Do Fat Shark glasses fit that agenda? Also, do the receptors allow connection w/ T.V? My wife has less-than-great hearing and eyesight. Thought it 'd be great to let her have an 'immersion'-type viewing experience. Would appreciate any advice or direction. Thanks!
If you search like this in ebay you find a splitter that boosts the signal so you keep the signal strength when splitting to 4 units "1 to 4 Car DVD LCD TV Video Monitor Amplifier Booster Distribution RCA Splitter " i use it on my groundstation with a 7" screen 2 fatsharks and 1 dvr it only cost me 13 usd including shipping to sweden
Have you heard about the Oculus Rift? It is a 110 degree field of view with full head tracking. It is originaly made for gaming, but i think they would be cool for FPV to. I have ordered a developer kit that probably arrive this month as they haven't been released yet. If i get it to work i can send you some plans if you wish.
Bruce, Chinese companies have those glasses, they probably still sell the kind like your older Fat Shark set. I always wondered how great they were, most people say the ones that are modeled to watch movies inside of, say there really lame. I'll have to search the Chinese site I use which has tons of cameras and things like these.
Fatshark seems to have a difficult time keeping their vendors stocked and what irritates me is that they don't use the same frequencies as the Foxtech and companies so that you must purchase the transmitter from them. I have the Fatshark Predator and you can't pull the receiver out of them so if I wanted to use a different companies radios I would be tied to a pole.
Have you tried the Foxtech goggles, Bruce? They're silver, with a light gray (grey in NZ?) silicone seal around the perimeter of the goggles, not individual eye cups. Of course they're compatible with the Foxtech VTx module as well, and they have a Futaba trainer plug.
Bruce, I'd like to join in propfella's question. I notice you wear eyeglasses in your videos--how do you cope with with your existing vision issues when you wear the 3d glasses? Do you wear contact lenses? Do any of these have adjustments for focal distance adjustment?
I read about that too. If the Oculus Rift uses HD screens, you wouldn't be able to get the entire 110° FOV. It would be like displaying an SD photo on your PC screen. Plus the video input would need to be changed from DVI or HDMI to composite video, though there may be video converters available.
Bruce Hobby King in America has different looking Fat Shark glasses then what you just showed. They also have switches on the front for the eye adjustment thing. Can you check them out and see if there newer then yours? That would be hobby king without the space dot com
HD refers to higher definition, yes.. Please do note that HD are just better video goggles than the SD (i.e. better FOV, better optics, etc.). It doesn't refer to HD video (we all know that it is possible somewhere in the near-future) I could've read your comment wrong though, just for clarifications
What do you do if you wear eyeglasses, take them off or wear the lot? Do they give you eye strain after a while. Getting old ain't much bloody fun and investing $400.00 on something I can't try out first is a bummer. The joys of living 500 miles from the closest Hobby Shop I guess, Thanks.
HobbyKing sells one other brand, last time I checked. And Bruce would like them; they're white. Trappy from Team BlackSheep adapted a $600 pair of Carl Zeiss Cinemizer video glasses to some ski goggles. I believe they have a 35° field of view.
Any suggestions for using these while wearing glasses? Is it possible? I considered getting a pair and glueing in a pair of inexpensive prescription lenses. I don't have a simple prescription and I can't wear contacts....
Bruce, have you ever used the Dominator's head tracker, or do you always fly with a fixed camera? I've seen many reports of problems with the Dominator's head tracker, and would be grateful if you'd make a test video of it.
he isn't making lenses out of plastic. He bought something "affordable" that has plastic lenses. Hes talking about RC not high end photography. I would listen to Bruce a bit and you might understand the difference.
Love my Foxtech aio, shiny silver plus excellent support from Foxtech. Nice magnification and does both 2.4 and 5.8.ghz. Single cable for optional power and head tracker. Perfect No ipd adjust tho.
Why don't you use the built in receiver only as a link to your pole which has the equipment for your backpack / Foxtech equipment and a 5.8GHZ transmitter? That's what several people I know use.
Thanks Bruce, good run down, You have proberly done it a thousand times but i wonder if you could recommend a good all round FPV package. All the diff. frequencies etc. get a bit confusing. Thankyou..
For those of you that wear glasses, I just ordered and received a set of extra lenses for my Predator version 2 goggles that adjust for different "diopters" of nearsightedness.
I love some of the comedy in this review. "when you drop the new one it breaks into a million pieces, but the pieces are contained" lol and criminals keep the IPD close!
Glasses are now made out of Polycarbonate plastic. Only Construction Workers get real glass lenses. I'm wearing some Polycarbonate ones with memory flex frames.
Fat Shark.. I recently tried a game called "war of roses" and there was a Fat Shark company logo (and name of course) on the intro screen? Same company?
How do you use the attitude fatshark for long range fpv. uhf for my 2,4ghz to boost the range. But what can i use for the video to boost my range. There is not much info on the video range. rx is build in the goggles and cant be taken out. There is a 600mw transmitter for a little more range ,but thats it. Do i need those diversity av transmitters? how do you hook those up. Whats the best setup for video range.
Try Ready Made RC for understanding of the hobby. There's a question and answer section there. Plus, they sell "all you need to get into FPV packages." As far as I know, yes, you're right about needing UHF, if you only fly beyond your radio's range though. Aside from that, greater range is all about antennas and their placement on the aircraft, the type of antenna used, and the environment you fly in. An environment such as a city that has a lot of radio interference will greatly limit range, maybe. Now, about using a 600mW transmitter on your plane, or higher, that power might interfere with your electronics and antenna--thus shorter range--if your plane is small and you're unable to separate your components far apart. Some antennas are better for longer range than others. You don't need to hack or do anything to your goggles, so, just leave them alone. Since most likely, your googles already have the Next Wave 5G8 receiver built into them (since you posted this 6 days ago). Now, about the best setup for longer video range with 5.8 Ghz, I suggest you get an antenna tracker along with a 16-turn helical antenna and mount that on a tripod. For the aircraft, just use a CP antenna. Make sure all your antennas are right-hand CP. You will need and antenna tracker for the 16-turn helical antenna because it's narrow beam. You just can't mount a very narrow beam on your goggles and fly--you'll most certainly lose signal this way because it's impossible to track the aircraft with your head with such a narrow beam. Well, that's it. Look up You Tube videos on guys going really far on 5.8 Ghz. You can get all of the components that I mentioned at Ready Made RC. I'm not endorsing them, but they are a reputable dealer in the USA.
Mate your a classic. I am just starting to get into FPV RC ... really like how you explain things; it's a skill.
I have a good question. Someone I know said this was possible. Fat Shark can project the image from the goggles to the TV - right? Can it also project the TV image in the goggles?
I am just thinking you would technically have a $200 oculus rift for TV based games.
Great review Bruce.

Have you got your new white FatSharks yet? Just saw them while ordering my Attitude VS combo from getfpv. Thanks for all the great videos, even if they have helped me in spending all my money HA!
I liked your IPD description. Now excuse me while i'm destroying the universe with my fleet of FPV death stars

Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!! IF ONLY YOU WOULD REPLY TO EMAILS !!!!!!!!!! But its understandable Born a Kiwi Not your Fault !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hitlery Clinton her eyes are basically on top of one another :) Damn criminals. I just got the v3 Doms love them I race way better now.

Dx8 ran out of range before the fat sharks could really shine
Fixing my plane now
What is that metal tube thing on the stand in the back ground?
lmfao so instead of soldiers we should send optometrists to Afghanistan
hmm maybe i should get a set of dominater's to see if im a criminal
your first gen FS goggles. Are they 2.4ghz? What is the input voltage range for the camera?
I have seen these and thought the same. Not sure if I'm up for the electronics involved but I'm interested to see how it turns out.

- several options of sun blocking eyepiece/eye cups: foam, rubber, silicon, stuffed cotton etc.
- IPD adjustment
- modular design for part swapping
- automatic shades to protect LCD
- glasses and casing be painted in german "silver metallic" (never gets hot, doesn't degrade over time, is more damage resistant than other paints, so I guess it'd be the best fit)
I have the Fatshark Predator and you can't pull the receiver out of them so if I wanted to use a different companies radios I would be tied to a pole.
a video showing how to set up the th9x with head tracking would be good.I have had a couple of goes at it without success.
It doesn't refer to HD video (we all know that it is possible somewhere in the near-future)
I could've read your comment wrong though, just for clarifications
What do you do if you wear eyeglasses, take them off or wear the lot? Do they give you eye strain after a while. Getting old ain't much bloody fun and investing $400.00 on something I can't try out first is a bummer. The joys of living 500 miles from the closest Hobby Shop I guess, Thanks.
Still waiting for that project. Seems that Mr. Bruce has a bigger budget now and prefers to buy Fatsharks
I heard both: Dominator and AIO are using 30° FOV. Don't they? So there should be no difference in FOV
I love some of the comedy in this review. "when you drop the new one it breaks into a million pieces, but the pieces are contained" lol
and criminals keep the IPD close!
yes i wonder if we get an answer bud and there are others too, since the input from rca plugs right
Glasses are now made out of Polycarbonate plastic. Only Construction Workers get real glass lenses. I'm wearing some Polycarbonate ones with memory flex frames.
Great review! We love our old base glasses and are lookin' forward to trying the new base model.
No Frank the fatsharks don't but The new Foxtech AIO goggles have a wide black silicon shade that allows you to wear your glasses at the same time .
Fat Shark.. I recently tried a game called "war of roses" and there was a Fat Shark company logo (and name of course) on the intro screen? Same company?
bruce can you do a review on the attitude sd ive watched a lot of other attitude sd reviews but your reviews are a lot better than most I see
Ok, but if you plug an analog SD source into your full HD TV you won't see it letterboxed, right? The frame will be stretched to fill the screen.
Bruce I keep seeing all you planes, what are you going to do with them since your not in The club any more are you going to join again?
Can i use the Antenas (FATSHARK) on a NON_FATSHARK 5.8GHZ , like a HK or others. i think Yes but wanna hear U Bruce about that.
Fatshark Aviators 46 degree FOV - the best, thats what i fly with and just love them
How do you use the attitude fatshark for long range fpv. uhf for my 2,4ghz to boost the range.
I have the predators and love them
I wish I could get a built in 1.2Ghz rx for it
the fatshark attitudes already use the new updated 5g8 receiver. supposedly 40% more sensitivity compared to the old one
I'm wondering if we'll be able to use the Oculus Rift for fpv... that's a 110° FOV, should blow away Fatsharks for good
I would think more then one cable would get tangled real easy while your wearing the unit and trying to watch your plane.
so to resume,It makes clear to me you didnt like that new model at all!
so probably 12 v monitor is a better option?
Thank you Bruce for the review. I hope to buy a pair of Fat Sharks someday, and appreciate your commentary. Thank you.
I wonder how Fatshark goggles compare to the Foxtech's "All-in-one FPV Goggles"
Hi Bruce
Please make another video after you used the Attitude ,and tell us your experience.
Thank you very much
Gotta get some of them... my excuse to the better half is I'll fly and she can FPV... Love that Kiwi accent..;-)
Your videos have taught me everything I know on fpv and rc in general. Thanks
thanks for all the great reviews i want to order the Attitude SD from HK what do you suggest for the camera?
He used a weather balloon and lost the signal at the peak of his flight. Not true FPV, Bruce is still better!
I have the same problem and find that they are very clear due to the fact there at your eye I guess ..//..!!
The question is not what were they thinking? But rather Were they thinking? In this case I have to wonder.
have you reviewed other glass for this perposes and i missed you doing it?
Hey guys... Is the tbs 5.8ghz dominator rx modul also unsesitiv like the fatshark ones? Thx for answers
What's with all the animal names? Fox Shark
Bruce,How do you focus the Fatshark if you wear glasses? Glasses will not fit under the goggles. Thanks,Don
+Don Wood I'm pretty sure fatshark uses additional diopter inserts for their line of video glasses.
hi , do you know if you can use any of this glasses with the ar drone 2.0 that wifi not rc. thanks
