I adore this mod, 2 issues i encountered (you probably already know, but i thought i might share), after a brake, it transitions back to vanilla animation for a second which looks abrupt, same after a stomp landing where he goes into the classic crouch for a sec. Can’t wait till these little annoyances get fixed, it’s already peak 🎉
Since this is just a demo there might be small adjustments to it after the bulk of the mod is done which is exciting. Those vanilla animations are pretty good on their own though so I'm not too bummed about it personally

@@DolphynsDeck oh absolutely, that is not the issue, the problem with this game is that it has zero animation interpolation so what happens is that it abruptly changes back and forth if you know what i mean
I love that show SOOOOO much dude. I started rewatching the show a few months back, but never got back into it. I'm glad I've found someone else who also (probably) likes the show as me!

This mod is incredible. Seriously Sega is capable of making stuff like this, it actually makes Frontiers feel way more like a Sonic game. They honestly need to hire this person
The thing I love about his mod is it shows how confident Sonic is, it's just oozing with his charm and personality without him uttering a single word. The sheer style in his attacks, the way his combat puts heavy emphasis on his legs and feet showcasing the raw power that Sonic has. (Me personally, I think he should definitely be using his legs more, since his whole thing is running, so naturally his legs would be incredibly durable and strong) The poses he does with his homing attack ripped straight out of the games like Smash Ultimate and Adventure. Flying off the rail and just crossing him arms not giving a care in the world. Pulling off his best Goku impression with his multi-homing attack thing. THIS! THIS is peak Sonic! This is what Sonic NEEDS back in the franchise again!
I really do love the Smash influence he has in this. It's such an overlooked part of his history yet so cool. I'm hoping they can find ways to reference his past without making it too obvious. It's the best kind!
It reminds me of his moveset and fighting style in Sonic Battle! All focused on attacking with his legs, doing breakdance, taekwondo and capoeira stuff with freedom
I love too that his trick poses are also very much references to like the Sonic Colors laser wisp in the opening scene, the Adventure pose, and some others too like the smash bros pose

Thank you! It's amazing how I can get just as excited for upcoming mods as I did with the content updates. I seriously counted the minutes until this was released. I even saw a Kaio-Ken transformation mod similar to Sora's Super Sonic mod that looks official! It's still in development but I can't wait to check it out. Honorable mention to SockTiger's upcoming model mod.
This goes such a long way when you look at the body language of old Sonic compared to new Sonic. He's standing up straighter, isn't hunched over constantly and in a state of passive submissiveness like he usually is now. Its all those subtle, little touches that are what made Sonic such an imposing figure for so long and I miss the hell out of it. He looks so READY to get shit done and done HIS way and he's more than capable of doing it too. His confidence. His free spirited, go getter attitude is what is missing so much in today's depiction of the character. Sonic may TALK like he's all that, but he does it in the most lame, passive way imaginable. His mannerisms are what made EVERYTHING about him golden to begin with.

I hope in the future they get to make an expressive sonic like this mod. And Kishimoto says that hes always looking at sonic mods so he can try to surpass them. Let us hope

You articulated exactly what I wanted to say in my Amy video! I don't mind the amount of automation in the game considering the amount of movement tools I have to defy it. It feels so much cooler than just nailing the intended route.

Sonic Jump is a name I haven't heard in a while! I'm glad you appreciate the human side of it, I always felt there'd been a lack of that which is odd considering I got into sonic modding because of people like cobanermani having so much to say about it. Trying to bring some of that energy back :)
I tried this mod when I had 150 hours on the game. Now I have 200 cuz of this mod. This goes amazingly with combat DX and EX moveset. It just flourishes his full potential while looking like a total badass and I'm all up for it

That brief little sequence at 12:55 of Sonic jumping on the rail made by the robot and then parrying the Master Ninja while standing on top of the robot felt straight out of a movie for a sec.

He dominated the y2k gaming years with epic games and aesthetics, especially with Adventure 2 and Jet Set Radio being made at the same gap of years. He had the potential to surpass Mario's popularity, it sadly didn't happen because it all dates back to SEGA of America being a horrible branch with the worst business decisions that have done significant damage. Streets of Rage 4 on the Dreamcast was canceled because of the American CEO never hearing of Streets of Rage... so, yeah. It's really not just Sonic too. Let's not forget the horrible result of what would've been an epic 3D Golden Axe lol 😅

Omg the fight with the music at the end depicts exactly what sonic should be. Since kishimoto was taking so much advice to improve frontiers with the dlc, just imagine what he could do in the next game. He definitely redeemed himself after forces.
5:39 I love this but personally I think that they should have combined them and do more of a athletic marathon runner kinda of crouch where they put both hands on the ground have one leg stretched out and the other bending the knee and then use squash and stretch to tuck into a ball and then he goes into the spin dash animation to either charge up a spin dash or just pressing the spin dash button and letting him go hog wild
I gotta appreciate you for somethin'. Most people who show off mods for this game play it so vanilla. They use every rail and every platform just as intended, and I feel like that doesn't make for a good way to show off the cool new animations or whatever was added in whatever mods they're trying to showcase. But you play this game with style, you're being opportunistic, spindashing off of the correct slopes with a very small window to actually get more airtime. Thank you for highlighting such a cool mod.
This is exactly the kind of thing I feel like they need to do with the next game. One of the biggest issues I have with Frontiers in comparison to like Generations or Unleashed is that he doesn't FEEL very fluid. The gameplay when running around on the islands is very good and I do think they nailed that, but when I look at what Sonic himself is doing a lot of the time he just LOOKS awkward. His design is classically inspired by rubberhose cartoon characters and in the past you can see that generally drawn very well to great strength. Look at the Adventure 1 pose and the way you seem him postured and designed there really makes him feel fluid, whereas even in games like Generations he just looks a lot more stiff and it has honestly gotten worse as new games have come out. We're genuinely so close to greatness, and genuinely a lot of animations used in the final update make me believe they CAN spice it up.
Homing attacking in Generations felt like an extension of my momentum whereas in this game it's a dead stop.. Now that they can start from a clean slate with an expectation of how to make the next game I hope they have more room for expression and smaller details. I'm not mad that the other characters reused a lot of Sonic's animations (it was a free update afterall) but I really hope the next game gives them more individuality and spends more time fleshing them out. That being said I've probably played Sonic & Knuckles an even amount despite Sonic having much more to him
The Master Ninja+ encounter at the end...wasn't even a fight, just Sonic frying its processors making it wonder what the hell it's even doing as an Ancient Elite Unit. 👌
when you use this mod, you FEEL like Sonic and you can physically FEEL the hard hits of the homing attack and the "Im gOiNg aLl oUt" pose for the parry like you can be out inside of a new sonic anime after Sonic Prime like this is Sonic's emotions at it's top.
Not only is this mod awesome, seeing this guy USING that DAMNED Emerald thief bot while fighting the Master Ninja mini-boss at the end was the icing on the chili dog. Ten outta ten.
I love how much forward force Sonic has to his running animation - Sonic and Shadow's more recent animations seem almost too effortless. It looks cooler when they're trying harder
i think theres genuine hope for him to look like this in the next game considering they gave sonicteam a bigger budget because of how well frontiers did.
y’know i feel like SEGA lowers the animation quality on purpose and just says to the fans “screw it, do it yourself” because they didn’t have the budget to make a game with these type of animations
I don't think they make decisions with the intention of relying on modders per se. They did say they want to compete with mods but so far that's been purely from a gameplay standpoint
I think it's more so they barely are allowed enough time to cook the games as it is. One of the reasons the series had so many solo Sonic games is precisely how many extra animations are needed for a polished playable character.

You know what I think they should do for the animation in the next 3D game? Just like what they did for Mania, get fans to work on the animation for the next open zone game. There are several of them that know how to animate Sonic right. That way we’ll get not only good in-game animation but also good cutscene animation too. And imagine if they also helped with the models too? They could be so expressive!
Ngl this mod helps elevate the fun I had with Frontiers so much, even managed to port the animations to a model that looks more akin to Generations/Unleashed and it's sick for the most part. Might even engage with the photo mode more, it's just Sonic's attitude and overall vibe really carries the experience that really encourages running around and showing off without a care.
I've played for a little while with the animations turned off and it feels... gross... I feel like I'm playing a tech demo whenever I do things like the homing shot... I can't go back lmao
@@DolphynsDeck Yeah I get that, it's like with re-animated you're seeing Sonic having fun running around the environment that it can elevate and immerse the player's engagement with the environment too. The animations even help in cyberspace as well.
This just makes me realize comparatively how Sauseless movie Sonic is he has some good moments like catching the death egg robot arm in his Super State, but that's about it, i think
I think Movie Sonic is pretty cool but I also don't think 3rd parties understand that Sonic is an action character first and a cartoon character second. It's a shame really. A lot of spin-off media nerfs him hard and makes me disappointed in the overall product
My favourite thing is the air flips and tricks it just defines how adventurous and free sonic loves to be I also think that's another thing ssga kinda screwed over they didn't make sonic show much emotion outside of cutscenes like his whole thing being free and that's why we love that blue rat

That brief little sequence at 12:55 of Sonic jumping on the rail made by the robot and then parrying the Master Ninja while standing on top of the robot felt straight out of a movie for a sec.

He dominated the y2k gaming years with epic games and aesthetics, especially with Adventure 2 and Jet Set Radio being made at the same gap of years. He had the potential to surpass Mario's popularity, it sadly didn't happen because it all dates back to SEGA of America being a horrible branch with the worst business decisions that have done significant damage. Streets of Rage 4 on the Dreamcast was canceled because of the American CEO never hearing of Streets of Rage... so, yeah. It's really not just Sonic too. Let's not forget the horrible result of what would've been an epic 3D Golden Axe lol 😅
Damn it... Now I am going to have to play another 30 hour playthrough of this game with this mod on it. Can't unsee this. Great demo and video as well!

5:39 I love this but personally I think that they should have combined them and do more of a athletic marathon runner kinda of crouch where they put both hands on the ground have one leg stretched out and the other bending the knee and then use squash and stretch to tuck into a ball and then he goes into the spin dash animation to either charge up a spin dash or just pressing the spin dash button and letting him go hog wild

I gotta appreciate you for somethin'. Most people who show off mods for this game play it so vanilla. They use every rail and every platform just as intended, and I feel like that doesn't make for a good way to show off the cool new animations or whatever was added in whatever mods they're trying to showcase. But you play this game with style, you're being opportunistic, spindashing off of the correct slopes with a very small window to actually get more airtime. Thank you for highlighting such a cool mod.

Vanilla Frontiers had some great animations when they tried
This is exactly the kind of thing I feel like they need to do with the next game. One of the biggest issues I have with Frontiers in comparison to like Generations or Unleashed is that he doesn't FEEL very fluid. The gameplay when running around on the islands is very good and I do think they nailed that, but when I look at what Sonic himself is doing a lot of the time he just LOOKS awkward.
His design is classically inspired by rubberhose cartoon characters and in the past you can see that generally drawn very well to great strength. Look at the Adventure 1 pose and the way you seem him postured and designed there really makes him feel fluid, whereas even in games like Generations he just looks a lot more stiff and it has honestly gotten worse as new games have come out. We're genuinely so close to greatness, and genuinely a lot of animations used in the final update make me believe they CAN spice it up.
Homing attacking in Generations felt like an extension of my momentum whereas in this game it's a dead stop.. Now that they can start from a clean slate with an expectation of how to make the next game I hope they have more room for expression and smaller details. I'm not mad that the other characters reused a lot of Sonic's animations (it was a free update afterall) but I really hope the next game gives them more individuality and spends more time fleshing them out. That being said I've probably played Sonic & Knuckles an even amount despite Sonic having much more to him

when you use this mod, you FEEL like Sonic and you can physically FEEL the hard hits of the homing attack and the "Im gOiNg aLl oUt" pose for the parry like you can be out inside of a new sonic anime after Sonic Prime like this is Sonic's emotions at it's top.

y’know i feel like SEGA lowers the animation quality on purpose and just says to the fans “screw it, do it yourself” because they didn’t have the budget to make a game with these type of animations
I don't think they make decisions with the intention of relying on modders per se. They did say they want to compete with mods but so far that's been purely from a gameplay standpoint
I think it's more so they barely are allowed enough time to cook the games as it is.
One of the reasons the series had so many solo Sonic games is precisely how many extra animations are needed for a polished playable character.

I used: Reanimated Frontiers, Graphics Enhancement, Into the Horizon Title Screens, Definitive Cyber Ghost Removal, Normal Enemies in Update 3, Frontiers UI Overhaul & Reimagined Platforms :)
You know what I think they should do for the animation in the next 3D game? Just like what they did for Mania, get fans to work on the animation for the next open zone game. There are several of them that know how to animate Sonic right. That way we’ll get not only good in-game animation but also good cutscene animation too. And imagine if they also helped with the models too? They could be so expressive!
Ngl this mod helps elevate the fun I had with Frontiers so much, even managed to port the animations to a model that looks more akin to Generations/Unleashed and it's sick for the most part.
Might even engage with the photo mode more, it's just Sonic's attitude and overall vibe really carries the experience that really encourages running around and showing off without a care.
I've played for a little while with the animations turned off and it feels... gross... I feel like I'm playing a tech demo whenever I do things like the homing shot... I can't go back lmao
@@DolphynsDeck Yeah I get that, it's like with re-animated you're seeing Sonic having fun running around the environment that it can elevate and immerse the player's engagement with the environment too.
The animations even help in cyberspace as well.
This just makes me realize comparatively how Sauseless movie Sonic is he has some good moments like catching the death egg robot arm in his Super State, but that's about it, i think
I think Movie Sonic is pretty cool but I also don't think 3rd parties understand that Sonic is an action character first and a cartoon character second. It's a shame really. A lot of spin-off media nerfs him hard and makes me disappointed in the overall product
My favourite thing is the air flips and tricks it just defines how adventurous and free sonic loves to be I also think that's another thing ssga kinda screwed over they didn't make sonic show much emotion outside of cutscenes like his whole thing being free and that's why we love that blue rat
