I had that Dakkajet box for 2-3 years, I almost threw it out at one point thinking it was just empty sprues 😅. The lost treasure trove of Ork bits discovered.
I made a Killa Kan not long ago largely out of the spare bits I had from two Dakkajet kits, some spare Deff Dread bits, and whatever other salvage I had from my bits box. The Dakkajet kit is so good for that, I'm tempted to buy another at some point to have one more aircraft and another mass of bits to use for building random ramshackle models.
I love this. I've been scratch building some grot, ork, and junk vehicles but struggling with how to paint them. This helped a lot, as did the build which is a lot like how mine start. Random bottle of some nature, slap stuff on. They make for great bodies for stuff like this. God bless and thank you for sharing.
@@AnotherDayMiniatures you deserve it I did a lot of chaos conversions after your Scavangers video and now I have 1k points painted; doubt I would have done it without that video
Damn, that's awesome! I'm trying to get my space wolves combat patrol painted up, but I keep getting side tracked 😅. 1k points is a serious amount of dedication.
The best way I've found for making rivets is to take some small diameter round styrene rod, like 1-2mm depending on if it's infantry or a vehicle, and just try to take thin slices off of it. You can do the same with square rods around the same size to look like bolts.
Great little tank! Had the same problem with a soft container and ended up filling it with stamped tinfoil, also gave som weight. Had I been smarter I would have used plaster instead - far cheaper.
As for rivets, you could take a length of sprue, shave down the edges to make a rough cylinder shape, and then cut out small pieces of the sprue to use as rivets Hope that helps
I had the same thought, I did attempt it but they kept coming out looking rectangular. 😅 I ordered some pearl things that should hopefully work really well for it. Cheers mate!
@@AnotherDayMiniatures As a wargamer you probably have loads of unused pole weapons in your bits box, I do goblin ones, orc ones, Chaos ones, Lizardmen ones, Empire ones, High Elf ones, even some Skaven, even though I've never had an army of those :D ... but really any rod will do, a spear is just an example :)
@@AnotherDayMiniaturesyou could also take some tinfoil and punch out holes and use those for rivets. Learned that trick from Night Shift, a scalemodel tank youtuber
@benjaminwehmer8441 That is a great idea, it's apparently how they make them for real life stuff too. The thought about that did come up, but at the time I couldn't find anything with 1-2mm hole that could survive punching a hole in several layers of tin foil.
@@AnotherDayMiniatures What i have seen him do is have a «screwdriver-kind-of-tool» with that diameter poke the tin foil through a sheet of plasticcard Where he has drilled out holes in different sizes
Any chance you'd make something like a Father Gorkmas grot tank, that's pulled by 9 Squigs, with the foremost having a glowing red nose... or bloody mouth. Could be grots delivering Dakka to all the orks who've been Gud Boyz this year. Only if you have the parts/ can kitbash it with minimum effort or cost. I mean, Christmas is coming up fairly soon, and it would be a great idea, after seeing this. I like this little Kan a lot, especially with that steampunk-esque rear wheel. I swear the Grots watched Wild Wild West before asembling it :D
WAIT... did you just.... suggest.... ORK CHESS?! ARE YOU INSANE?!! That seems like a pretty fkn cool idea tbh.... Grot tanks for the rooks, Weird boyz for the bishops, Gazkull for the king, Squigerella for the Queen, 'ard boys as peons... or just ork peons, and a defftrak for the knight... or something.

Yeah the kit is amazing, surprisingly well priced for the size of the model and the amount of extra bits you get.
That's quite a fun lil grot tank. From a paint pot.
Thanks!
I am glad you did one of these challenges. I am also happy that it's for Da Revolution.
Da moment dem Orks turn their backs, Da Revolushun begins!
Squigpower, the one true measurement.
Just like Dakka, you can always use moar squigpower to solve a problem 😄
Interesting dalek
Extorkminate ?

Glad it was useful, Cheers!
Milaput and green stuff mixed together is a game changer for sculpting with models
This is brilliant
Cheers 😄🤘
I get so much motiviation and inspiration from this channel. Thank you
Honestly a massive compliment knowing that, cheers mate 😃

Love it! Absolutely nailed the orkish design process there. 😁
Gork and Mork were with me :D

I adore this
missed the opportunity to call it the Grot Pot

@@AnotherDayMiniatures You're welcome man
I think for the rockets you could also try pinning them in too
I'm quite terrible with the pinning process, so I usually avoid it if I can help it. 😁
this guy reminds me of the good half life from mad max very fitting for the theme of the vid
Nice work
Thank you!
For rivets try slicing a plastic rod, like a spear shaft from your bits box.
Just need to find some spears 😁

Great job could be a kan could be a tank.
I was looking at killa kans earlier, so they were definitely on my mind.😄
This...this is awesome! ❤

That is a super creative idea, not sure it's something I can do but I'll keep in mind. Cheers!
Personally I would try to keep the original label of the paint and have it like the Grots found a big pot of paint and used it to make a tank.
🔥🤘❤️ nice build
Cheers mate :D
Such talent and skill. 😉😉
Thanks 🙂👍
That's Orksome🎉
Tank you
Hmm... I wonder if green stuff could be used for rivets. Maybe, maybe not
Yes, it absolutely can! Roll greenstuff into little tubes, then just cut little rounds off with an exacto to make rivets.
Looks dope! Gave you a follow
Cool
Legs. That’s the hard to copy thing. God I love 3D printing…
What red are you using? its looks super saturated!
It's the Pro Acryl Bold Pyrrole Red, it can come out a bit glossy, but it gives it a little extra saturation.
"we waz gonna eat da grott but den e found one uh da old oil kanz and now ez to fazt"
Great stuff. WAAAGH!
Which contrast paint did you use?
I used quite a few at the end, are you referring to any part specifically ?
"Da rook rollz an' da rook shootz."
😄
