Really enjoyed your clip. It brought back childhood memories. My grandfather lived in the Sedro-Woolley and we also fishing the Skagit especially when I was on school break and never missed "Humpy" season. That was family tradition and thanks for keeping our rivers clean. My wife I have clean an area of lake Roosevelt every yr.

I’m not sure your exact location but the Skagit is completely closed on most of the river (I think all the river). You may want to check the regs. I know steelhead is closed due to low numbers. Download the fish Washington app, it’s a hefty fine if you get caught.

Not gonna brag but I'm one of the lucky ones to catch their first Steelhead in under 2 hours. But since then I haven't caught anything. I'm very into Steelhead fishing and those spots you were at is pretty cool. I know the place well enough just because I backpack and hike a lot up at North Cascades and around HWY 2 area. Man Steelhead is a grind. I'm watching a lot of videos to learn and get to know different techniques and locations anyhow. Great video bro I appreciate you for sharing.
I caught a 36 lb. King back in late summer @ that first spot... one of my best go to spots when fish are in! 👍 Hope it doesn't get to blown up to much.. Thanks for cleaning up after others. I do the same. Don't want to lose the privileges of good fishin' spots

I fish the skagit and local rivers. And yea like you said it would be a fluke to catch a hatchery steel. Definitely a catch and release fishery. Pink and blue worm got me quite a few this year. Great vid!

Good stuff dude, keep it up. And kudos to putting the litter pick up in the video, make it a regular part! Also, once you get lucky, make sure to take off your gloves before landing them, don't take them out of the water at all if you're gonna release. Rule of thumb is you increase mortality by 2% for every second out of the water, and as we know from the last decade of regulations on that river...they are precious!

You ever have any luck with Steelhead in the Skagit? I’m close by in the San Juans but normally go all the way to the peninsula for Steelhead. Be nice to fish rivers closer to home.
I haven’t had any luck on the Skagit River... lot’s of people have told me that it would be a fluke to catch a hatchery steelhead in the Skagit. I think it would be awesome just to get some action 🐟💯

If you’re targeting steelhead I’d recommend getting a bigger net. The one you have won’t be of much help if you get into one, even if it’s smaller. Good job packing out the litter!

Great video, steel heading can be a grind! As a fellow Washingtonia thanks for the trash pick up....tip to for float fishing, dont cast so far up stream, you want as natural a drift as possible. Make sure you keep your line out of the current so the bomber does not get dragged. Good luck and tight lines.

I got into a steelhead back in November on the Nooksack. Still haven't caught a salmon since 2013 but that was a nice surprise at least...my first one!

I fish the Nooksack all the time! Caught a few smaller steelhead over the years, lots of Coho but it's a tough river. It's small, gets fished hard and gets blown out easy. Tight lines to ya :)

I had a feeling that their wouldn't be any... then when the game warden stoped to say hi... he was like... your a brave soul being out here in the rain... then he told me that it would be a fluke if I caught one... lol I was just hoping to get some action.... Biggest fish I've ever caught was in that first spot, about as far upriver as you can go along that rock wall...though it was from a drift boat with a guide.

Saw a lot of eagles and fish.. but we were training for the Ski to Sea race... lol Fun though. I plan on hitting up the river again here soon though... gotta keep trying... any action is good action even if I have to release it.
