@@marshabailey1121 everything about this man is beautiful. His talent is extraordinary. And mad respect for walking away then coming back when he was ready. What's happening right now b/n Schon and Cain is fucking sad.
The reason for that piano solo at the end was to give time for Steve Perry to recover from singing that song. Journey has said it's the hardest song in their catalog to sing, and Perry didn't sing it at every concert, even during that tour in 1981. So Jonathan Cain's solo let him catch his breath a bit before going into the next song. It's probably the greatest live performance ever recorded in rock history. Absolutely flawless.
Do a Reaction to the rest of the concert from Journey with Lead Singer Steve Perry Escape Tour Live in Houston 1981 " Don't Stop BelIevin " " Stone in Love " " Girl Can't Help It " " Open Arms " " Who's Crying Now " " Escape " " Stay Awhile " Also " Only The Young " " Faithfully " " Separate Way's " " I'll Be Alright Without You " " When You Love A Women " " Keep On Runnin " " Sweet and Simple " Steve Perry is called the " Voice " he is One of the Best if not the Best Singer in Rock History, Steve also has his own Songs " O' Sherrie " it Reached No.2 on the Hot 100, " Foolish Heart " Reached No.15.
Us Classic Journey fans will always call this a 'Masterpiece!!' Classic Journey at this time is ........ Steve Perry - Lead vocals Neal Schon (like the name Sean) - Lead guitarist Ross Valory (like the name Valerie) - Bassists Jonathan Cain - Keyboardist Steve Smith - Drummer
Real people, playing real music, singing authentically...no pitch correction/auto tune, or back up tracks. What you hear, is what the band is producing with no gimmicks. Music today sucks ass compared to the skill those that did it this well back then displayed. Today's music is so dishonest.
Wait...how could you listen to Aerosmith, GnR, and even Metallica and not know who Journey is??? That sounds almost impossible. They were all played on the same radio stations.
Possibly the greatest vocal performance of any concert in history. Perry never waivers.
For me, "Take Hold of the Flame" by Queensryche live in Tokyo and "Mother Father" by Journey are the two best live performances I've ever seen.
Steve Perry is the absolute GOAT. Nobody had the Voice (his nickname), the tone, the technique or the heart that Steve had. One in a million.
Check out his solo work on Street Talk...Foolish Heart, Oh Sherrie, Strung Out. Another incredible live performance Still They Ride Japan 1983

Nice!!! Thank you for that bit of info. It never even occurred to me. 😊
Check out journey
Still they ride live in Osaka Japan 1983 pure fire 🔥
I agree. It is extraordinary. Steve went above and beyond the studio recording.
Journey! Probably the best rockband ever! So, so many good songs to check out here - well, all of them rather...🤩
The way that Steve Smith brings the drums back at full force at the end of Schon's guitar solo??? Gaaah. ❤❤❤
Steve Perry is a vocal beast and Neal Schon is underrated as a guitarist he started playing with Santana at 15 years old
One of the best live performances ever

Sucks ass is correct!!
Absolute Perfection!!! The vocals and band are amazing!
You have to watch the whole live Houston concert, 1981. It was amazing!
Deen sings this on the current tour. He pours his heart into it.
Yep. That's Journey. Get used to them. "Don't Stop Believing" holds true.
Dude, it's the famous iconic voice of Steve Perry.
Wait...how could you listen to Aerosmith, GnR, and even Metallica and not know who Journey is??? That sounds almost impossible. They were all played on the same radio stations.
He was nicknamed the voice by bon jovi
