Hot dang! This is the GOOD STUFF! Twin fiddles with Eddie and Dave, Tommy on the mando, Marshall holding down the bottom, and Dudley twangin' and sangin' his heart out. This song is super special and that whole album is fantastic! Love me some JMB.
This was mine and my husband s song ! I wish I could play this for him and tell him let them talk ! Let’s just show the whole world how happy we can be . Remember when we use to listen to this Bob and say it was our song ! I still love you ! You gave up. I’m still here waiting to show them we could be happy !! But you gave in and listen to them talk ! Now you have given up on us ! 😢
Far and away the best song y'all ever did. Loved the style, the picking, and the singing. Been listening to it ever since y'all put it out. Would love a reunion concert.
This is my parent's song. They said they used to call in the local radio station every Friday night and request it. Then they would dance around the living room. SO SWEET!
This was a Jimmy C. Newman song that the boys covered. Great to see Eddie Stubbs and the other fiddler laying it down on this, and of course, Dudley Connell just killing it!
one of the best bluegrass bands of all time listen to them all time and have most all of their cds and cassette just wish they could have a reunion tour while they are all still around and i am still around that would be great for all of blue grass and us old folks
Nathan Francisco Don't miss my point !,...I am not referring to MULTIPLE fiddles, but to the fact that Stubbs and the other fiddler hog all the breaks!...some other instrument would have been good on a break !...isn't it the same on OUR BETTER YEARS ?
I believe they were staying true to the original Jimmy C Newman arrangement where there are just turnarounds. And they got that beautiful turnaround sounding so pretty, they just felt it should be the breaks, and intro and outro.
@scrath73 If you are talking about Tom Suddath I hope he stays with them! I saw on their facebook they were looking for a good strong tenor singer which i thought was Tom! I have seen them a few times and they are very good!
I used to play this song to my friend to anger him when we were high as hell. Once, I locked him out of my house and played it full blast while smokin' my pipe and he nearly killed me.
It's still being made we've just all gotten older and the media goes with the youth and their choice. But the emergence of modern day techno/rap/hip-hop has taken away the value and perseverance of actually "learning to PLAY" a musical instrument.

This great song could be sung by Jimmy Martin.
Is that a heart or have you just broken wind?
