deep love for the Johnson Mountain Boys. My dad would play his banjo to their records, and would take us to see them at the festivals in the summer. Awesome! Thanks dad!
I love it at 1.32 when Dudley feeds the line to others with a big grin - they look as though they had had trouble remembering that line during rehearsals and they're having a laugh about it on stage. We've all been there!
By far one of the best and most influential of the 2nd generation bands IMHO because they had a 1st generation attitude. They often featuring selected members of the band on certain numbers, so their show was like a band within a band. I had the good fortune to see/hear them when Bottom Dollar Boy$ shared the bill at Spirit of Suwannee at about this same time (early 1988). Humble and gracious in spite of their great talent... T'was one of the high(est)lights in all the years I been apickin!
I read about a man one day He wasted not his time away He prayed to God Every morning, noon and night He cared not for the things avail But trusted One who never fails Oh Daniel prayed Every morning, noon and night Oh, Daniel served his living God While upon this earth he trod He prayed to God every morning, noon and night They locked him in the lion's den Because he would not honor men But he prayed to God Every morning, noon and night The jaws were locked, it made him shout And God soon brought him safely out Oh, Daniel prayed Every morning, noon and night Oh, Daniel served his living God While upon this earth he trod He prayed to God every morning, noon and night Now brother let us watch and pray Like Daniel did from day to day He prayed to God Every morning, noon and night We too can gladly dare and do And pray to God, He'll see us through Oh, Daniel prayed Every morning, noon and night Oh, Daniel served his living God While upon this earth he trod He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
This is without a doubt the best bluegrass/gospell song that I have ever heard.
And it was done LIVE which makes it that much more incredible!
I was there!!
Some of the best music I have ever heard. Eddie Stubbs. Great voice.
Eddie Stubb's singing bass love to hear him play that fiddle

@mandokilla
I saw them many times. And count my memories fortunate, to have seen and heard them live. A true bluegrass sound.
This is some of the best harmony ever.
Who but our God could create the voice,of humans.
I've been picking and performing since 1965. HOW ON EARTH DID I MISS THSES GUYS??!!! This is a fabulous rendition of this song, perhaps the best. Wow.
Dont come better than this... Luv you guys
The best rendition of "Daniel Prayed" I've ever heard. Fantastic lead, harmony and instrumentals.🥰

i like that part too...i think Dudley might also be saying that with a question mark
He was the only one singing the line so it appears it was a mistake.
The music that first made me love bluegrass still makes me love bluegrass
I regret that I never saw this group live. Thank God for video and CD's!

I read about a man one day
He wasted not his time away
He prayed to God
Every morning, noon and night
He cared not for the things avail
But trusted One who never fails
Oh Daniel prayed
Every morning, noon and night
Oh, Daniel served his living God
While upon this earth he trod
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
They locked him in the lion's den
Because he would not honor men
But he prayed to God
Every morning, noon and night
The jaws were locked, it made him shout
And God soon brought him safely out
Oh, Daniel prayed
Every morning, noon and night
Oh, Daniel served his living God
While upon this earth he trod
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
Now brother let us watch and pray
Like Daniel did from day to day
He prayed to God
Every morning, noon and night
We too can gladly dare and do
And pray to God, He'll see us through
Oh, Daniel prayed
Every morning, noon and night
Oh, Daniel served his living God
While upon this earth he trod
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
that gets better every time I hear them do it
