I’m a banker and a notary. My only concerns would be: Is the buyer IN FRONT OF ME WITH ID, Does the buyer consent to the deal, did they sign the documents without coercion, do the sellers have ID, each party has sworn and legally signed the documents, and do you have the notary fee. Any other details are not my business.

I’m a banker also and racism is alive and well. Many times after speaking to clients on the phone, when I meet them in person, they seem very surprised. I have gotten very good at pretending not to notice.
All of this. My only other concern would be if I see a red flag raised for Financial Abuse or Elder Abuse and/ or if my own customer is acting a little off. I find that ppl new to being a notary in banking are always nervous & overly cautious about the paperwork they are notarizing.
Dear hearts, it is what it is. I think we all know what it's called. So glad you got your money, but some will always see you as brown people, regardless. You all handle these things very well, and shouldn't feel bad for talking about your real life experiences with racism. As a former banker. The notary did not have to do all of that her job is to collect your id and document it and have you sign her record log. If she wanted to be nosy all she had to do was ask what to put in the FOR line of the official check. Usually it’s a scam if you asked for a certain amount and told her you would give xyz back. Clearly that’s not the case because you were with her with sufficient if. I would ask for the phone number of the Regional Manager of that bank. Congratulations on you new endeavors!!

That was crazy, I am a Notary Public, we are always to remain impartial regarding the details of the transaction. She could probably be sued for her part in possibly discouraging your buyer. That's just crazy!!! But I'm so happy for you guys, keep it moving and enjoy every moment!

As a notary the details of the docs are non of her business . All she had to do is make sure the buyer was coherent and that's it. The rest was none of her business. Congrats to you both!! Keep doing what it do....

what that notary was REALLY asking her client was if she really wanted to transfer funds "to these n*****s"???.... again, this goes beyond an individual just being "negative or offputting." Being Christian shouldn't prevent you from calling racism what it is, be it subtle or overt. Big congrats on selling the tiny house. 💜

Definitely hear what yal are saying but it's always easier to look at in retrospect. It caught us off guard and that is mixed in with one of the biggest transactions we've ever done. It's not as easy to walk away from the closing table as you might think, especially when the problem is with a third party and not the buyer. Things happen faster in the moment.

I work in banking and at the beginning speaking of the banker, I felt that it was a fraud precaution. But as the story unfolded, I think that there may have been a racist perspective. “These People” is never a term/phrase that should be used. Maybe consider reporting to corporate. That would never be acceptable at my place of employment.

Congratulations! As a former banker and notary I can say if the woman who purchased your home was a client you were part of her transaction and should not have been charged. She (the Notary) was verifying who the buyer and seller signing the documents were. That’s it. No reason for the `tude or charge to you. It’s just good bizness. If I were the woman who had the account I would have asked her to apologize if she wanted to continue to have my business. You should report that Notarizer to their superior. That is not good customer service. My wife is a notorizer at a bank and she would never treat someone that way. On another note I'm happy for you two and also noticed you changed your UA-cam channel. 😂 Enjoy your new home!

Aww so happy for you all! Big congrats! So, I worked in banking for several years and what that banker did was just rude and sounds slightly prejudice. As a former personal banker - I will say that I would try to protect the member and ask general questions before making out a large bank check and notarizing documents but there is a way of handling business that is professional and polite (and for me - in a Godly way that would be acceptable to the Lord). At the end of the day - I'm glad ya got ya money! (Excuse my bad grammar but I'm keeping it 💯)

From my experience, from me selling 3 homes without a realtor, lawyers and bankers are very much surprised and uncomfortable to see people such as us( read between the lines 😊) being successful at business dealings that generate wealth without the assistance of utilizing their services.
