My husband and I were elementary, middle and highschool friends and we have friends from that era that we kept still... We grew up with these people and they're family. My maid of honor was as much my friend as my husband's. She grew up with us. So yes I feel like married people can have friendships with the opposite sex. Both the friend and the married person must however be respectful and understand boundaries.
I can respect this. I feel like having friends that both people share works well. I just don't agree with having friends of the opposite sex that the spouse is not also friends with.
I absolutely agree with you! Men and women cannot be platonic friends. I told my husband that it is totally unacceptable to be picking up new friends of the opposite sex. So many boundaries can be crossed.

My husband and I have been married for, in August, will be 5 years. Communication is key and we have 2 children (2yo and 3yo). We'll be taking our first couple trip without the kids next month, and while I'm of course hesitant about leaving the kids, I also acknowledge the importance of quality couple/marriage time. Our family and our marriage is our most important ministry. Without a solid foundation, the family crumbles. We have to keep us together to maintain our family. I've been following you guys for a while and your family is beautiful. Continue to keep God first, continue to pray and all will be well. Our oldest was a colic baby who in the first 2 months woke up every 45 minutes and our marriage sustained through that, job loss and financial crisis. God saw us through! It's a daily walk but we're willing to do the work to maintain! Be blessed 🙂
I think this family is wonderful.. they work together, knowing what boundaries not to cross (Bible based scriptures are very helpful).. it is vital to not allow yourself to be in situations that may lead to infidelity. I truly understand her view on platonic friendship in a marriage.. you may never intend for things to happen but the more you get to know anyone your forming a relationship & feelings can come into play. So for me at 35 single parent if I ever were to get married again. I’m okay hanging out with other married couples not the men I call friends who I know is attracted to me or vis versa.

As a woman that has been married for 12 years I can tell that the husband may … I said may be feeling a little isolated by two comments that he said ( we never watch movies together ANYMORE and “ I can see how being intentional to spend time together). He spoke on it because it has ran through his mind already. It’s real! I hope he feels safe enough to discuss it with his wife. It is super important! But Happy anniversary to you both!! Enjoy Also just wanted to add... my husband gets up for work in the mornings and I'm a night owl and sahm with 2. We compromise on late nights being our date nights in. That way we are consistently dating each other. Movie time, watching shows we like together, dancing together while the kids are sleeping. It has helped us grow more as a couple.
