As a Costa Rican, I am grateful for the time and energy that went into creating this beautiful, well thought out video about Costa Rica. A great country with its good and bad sides!
Beautiful video! I'm glad you had a good experience overall. I'm a local. I work with expats in Costa Rica and also vacationers on a local project called TICO BE LIKE. I can tell you that you're right, there is so much diversity here that choosing the right place to visit/live is so important. Advertising vs reality! We're all different and while some people might find a place too touristy or hot, for others it's just the perfect spot. The key is to find the right place that suits our personal needs/preferences.
As a Costa Rican citizen this vedeo make me feel proud but at the same time very concern about the reality of conservation programs in my country. Your travel documentary is just amazing, but also so honest and very valuable for all those who want their childrem an grandson to have the chance to enjoy all the treatures in nature we still have in our small country. Thanks for visited Costa Rica and I hope nest time you come back, things you pointed as dangerous for presevation of nature and wild life, will be corrected and eliminated. My best wishes for you, William, San Jose Costa Rica.
If your country and its people will ever hope to have the same amount of money and freedoms as other countries, you will be forced to develop and lose some, but not all, of that nature and wildlife. The world has a limited amount of space, and a very large multiplying amount of people on it
Yo tambien soy tico. Gracias a Dios me eduque en USA. Y solo un tico adoctrinado podría pensar que Costa Rica es bonito. El país es horrible! Uniquese.
I am from Costa Rica, currently living in Mexico for the past 10 years, heading back home to Desamparados, San Jose permanently.....outstanding video, God bless and Thank you
This was a great video. It was very informative. We will be going in December and we are looking for out of the way Eco adventures , yoga and vegan/ natural food options. This video was just what we needed.
Absolutely wonderful tour of our new home country! We particularly appreciate that you traveled down to our nearest town of Uvita and spent some time exploring in the southern zone. Absolute heaven! You have given us some great ideas for tours which we've still not taken, thank you! I hope you agree that the most wonderful part of Costa Rica are the locals! We completely agree that Corcovado is THE park to see!
Found your 10 Don'ts extremely help, thank you for taking the time to put this together. We are visiting in August so have plenty of time to incorporate all of your helpful tips.
You guys! Amazing work! Cannot stand green washing enthusiasts on YT; you 2 are the real deal! This documentary gave me TONS of legit green and veg friendly inspo for our upcoming trip to Costa Rica! Vegans unite... ;) Thanks a million! Vx
The blue water at Rio Celeste is the result of two rivers merging, each carrying different minerals that react when mixed leaving a white residue at the bottom where the merging happens and resulting in the beautiful blue water that eventually reaches the waterfall. It is amazing!
You guys rock! I am only half way in and learning so much. I wish I had seen this a couple of months back before my travel 😢 well, keep it coming.. I am subscribing ❤
Hey, to every one watching, if your thinking about going, you have to, I went for the first time in Oct, I Landed in Liberia, and spent the weekend at Hotel Javy, Nice little place, then i went to Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa, for the week, it was so Great, every morning waking up to the Volcano out my north window, and the Lake my west window. Plus the Birds and sounds, I must have hiked 20 plus kilometers that week, the food is Amazing, and the entire staff was so friendly and likable, can't wait to go back again next Oct 2023. I'm only a third of the way into this video, and see many places i need to visit on next trip 🙂.............K
We are going this October (La Fortuna/Tamarindo) but a lot of people don't recommend going that month specifically because of the rain. Did you find that to be disruption to your planned activities? I don't mind the rain but I would be worried about road conditions. Also landing in Liberia.
Hats off to that hotel owner for saving the precious environment & giving kids education by establishing a school in the hotel property !! 👏 👏👏👍👍👍😍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💕💞
I always love videos I see on this channel because they are always energetic and full of adventure, adventures are always good for the mind it’s too bad that most times lack of finance makes them virtually impossible
Hello ben and clara my wife and I just watched your costa rica video, thank you what a great video so different from the regular touristy stuff you see. What month did you travel in? How were the roads for driving, good, bad? Thank you again, we will definitely visit some of the great eco spots you showed..Dave
@@GoingGreenOfficial okok! I think a normal SUV handle the hills! The 4x4 is just used for a road with deep mud, from my knowledge. And for u said, dont have a deep deep mud in these roads right? Thank u a lottt for the help!

Great documentary. I will be departing for Costa Rica in just 4 days and will be there for 3 weeks. I too am a vegan, for more than 12 years now, and it is great to know that CR is so vegan friendly! Thanks for the info, you’re both lovely. I hope to meet fellow vegans while I’m there! 🌱 🦥 💚
@ I wanted to come back and thank you for the recommendation. I was in Uvita for a few days and got to check out Indómitos. Very cool place and amazing food! Those portion sizes 😳 I wish I could take it home with me.
Fascinating video, this will be my 45th year of travel and residing in CR. One thing I did not see in this well produced vid is spending time with local Tico’s. Mostly gringo, higher end vegans. Not a criticism, simply an observation. Tuanes mahe..
Hello, I really liked your video of Costa Rica. In November I plan to go on vacation and I have seen drone shots in your video. Do you need a permit to fly drones in Costa Rica? I have a DJI mini 2, thank you very much
Which month did you visit? You mentioned raining season, which month was it? I booked mid august to go there, do you think the weather will be in mid august?
Hi, we went in June which is the start of the rainy season. We were advised to stay away from September to October due to heavy rain. August may be a little bit wet.
I managed a hotel on the beach in Jaco for a couple of years and I saw wildlife that would have raised Richard Attenborough's eye-lids. I also saw a murder, a suicide, a lot of drug deals and several hundred prostitutes coming to town every weekend. I loved it!
Not many English people visit Costa Rica but I did. Photographing exotic butterflies around San Jose. My only problem was the occaisional aggressive beggar. Otherwise I was made welcome, No I don't speak Spanish. Great trip.
awesome video! I'm coincidentally planning to go Costa Rica in a few months so this was extra helpful, especially the vegan options. Unfortunately I can't drive, do you guys know if it would it be easy to get around otherwise? (perhaps even by cycling?)
You can buy a gas assisted bicycle, it looks like a motorbike, but by having pedals, it is consider a bicycle, so it doesn't require a license, papers or permits, though you cannot travel through main highways. When you leave the country, you can sell it and regain a lot of the cost. I've traveled with that baby through the northern part of the metropolitan area which has volcanoes, lakes and rivers, and it consumes a couple of bucks of gas per travel.
The deforestation is not here. The palm trees can produce till 25 years from that age is all ready grow big and can be unmanageable so is replaced with new growing are all ready starting produce in the 3rt year
How can you guys say a palm tree is harvest for couple years. The palm never stop grow and produce . but the Tree is size manageable till 20 to 25 yeas of age.
I went to Costa Rica. Many years ago... And much to my dismay, as my plane flew cross country to the Pacific hotel where I was booked, I saw that it in Isha country of palm farms, palm oil farms, with some nationalnoarkes along the coast. The parks, and the towns surrojnding them, at the time of my visit, were where the "jungles" were. Iow, the original jungles and been turned I tinfamrs and only oatches here and there were where u see the kinds of "jungle" shown here. .
True. Monocrops replaced the original forests beginning with cattle ranches in the north, then banana, pineapple and oil palm plantations in the South and Caribbean. Not a real "green" country!
I love costa rica and costa ricans but all countries un the world are getting succumbed to palm oil greed in the world and over tourism and commercial entities. even locals and tourists (some) who do care about environment are sometimes limited in what they can do same experience here, I was in costa rica 12 years ago and there were much fewer palm oil farms now after 12 years and it seems there was more awareness (i used to see label like sin aceite de palma but now palm oil is sold in huge cans!) now palm oil plantations seemed to have increased 50 fold or more they seemingly endless on highways. even the most remote corners like Osa have over tourism, there are people who keep outdoor cars who say themselves have seen killing areas teeming with bird populations and tourists and some who cater to their needs (i’ve seen loads and loads of trash bags piled up in places that can sustain that many tourists)! i am not point fingers at anyone but it is perhaps a problem that needs collective effort and resolution and not just pertinent to costa rica. i just do my part in not buying anything with palm oil (i heard even pineapple plantations are just as bad), use biodegradable, i even bought some of the packaging back to where i live (things i couldn’t avoid buying) where it can be recycled, support local products, sustainable projects, organizations but beyond that i feel helpless. anyway just shared my concern about this beautiful country that should be protected by all. but on a slightly positive note i feel costa rica is much more environmentally aware than other countries and i hope it improves.
Taking to much 💩. We need to make mone in OUR country. 2 option, Coca and Amapola Plantations. 3 option walking in caravans to United States. Are you Colore Blind?? It was not green what you saw from the aeroplane.? . Check how many acres Brasil deforested in the last 5 years. That is Alarming. Costa Rica began decades ago with a major effort to reverse the damage of reforestation during a welfare state period that came after the abolishment of the army that brought better school education with an emphasis on the environment. The expats arrived later but the actors in caring for the environment in Costa Rica are the ticos.

I asked a few staff at our motel/hostel about hiking waterfalls and what to wear on our feet. She said we make.very little money in Costa Rica, cost of.living is high and we cant afford the fees to these places. Many waterfalls are on land that is privately owned.
Cierto, pero esta desinformación no es culpa de los turistas. Cuando el avión aterriza el piloto les dice que llegaron a San José, Costa Rica, y los pasajeros no tienen cómo saber que eso no es cierto.
If you get back to Uvita you should check out my land, the eastern mountains from their tops to the rivers birthed at their base...an area of land larger than Manuel Antonio national park, but with no tourism, only prime Nature. Robert Tharpe can get you in touch with me.
I like so much your filming script and narration, and that Climate Crisis, is round the world, and the solutions will be found global, nothing to do with any left or right nationalism.
I am just returning from 8 months of travels in Wurope and central and west Asia. Planning to go to central America and south America early next year. On top of my list is Costa Rica! This was a very informative video and great drone workd. You covered primarily the west side. Is the east different that the west? Thanks!
Nice work, but calling Manuel Antonio stricly damage, is pretty jaded considering the amount of high end foreign owned 'eco-tourism' spots you hit. Its the most visited NP in CR, by tico's as well. there's actually a boardwalk so handicapped can access the park.
Which is your favourite place? 💚

If you get back to Uvita you should check out my land, the eastern mountains from their tops to the rivers birthed at their base...an area of land larger than Manuel Antonio national park, but with no tourism, only prime Nature. Robert Tharpe can get you in touch with me.
That sounds awesome! Thank you
I like so much your filming script and narration, and that Climate Crisis, is round the world, and the solutions will be found global, nothing to do with any left or right nationalism.
Thank you so much!
I am just returning from 8 months of travels in Wurope and central and west Asia. Planning to go to central America and south America early next year. On top of my list is Costa Rica! This was a very informative video and great drone workd. You covered primarily the west side. Is the east different that the west? Thanks!
The east is very different and we have yet to explore it. Lots of people have suggested we must experience both
@@GoingGreenOfficial Thank you for your response!
The whole ride to Manuel Antonio my 14 y.o. kid kept saying wow theyre really going for that monoculture here....all palm lines
Likely way too hot and humid for me. But it is a beautiful place.
It's nowhere near as hot as you think it is, especially during the rainy season.
What month did you visit Costa Rica?
June :)
Nice work, but calling Manuel Antonio stricly damage, is pretty jaded considering the amount of high end foreign owned 'eco-tourism' spots you hit. Its the most visited NP in CR, by tico's as well. there's actually a boardwalk so handicapped can access the park.
Boy what a dream 😍, but how much was the trip?? So I can start saving
4-5k leaving from the UK for two people for 3 weeks :)
I want to know; if you guys would go back and spend more time there to see if it were a place you would like to live?
Hi Josh, we probably wouldn’t want to live in the country simply because we enjoy living in the UK more.
