PURA VIDA! Follow us on our offroad journey through Costa Rica - the land of volcanoes, jungles, and beaches. We explored the country for four weeks, driving a total of three thousand kilometers. We climbed Costa Rica's highest mountain Cerro Chirripó and explored the jungle of Corcovado. We enjoyed both sunshine and tropical rain on the Caribbean beaches and watched turtle hatchlings crawl towards the Pacific Ocean in Ostional.

We traveled for 4 weeks in total.

We visited Costa Rica in November, at the end of the rainy season.
How much did the trip cost?
Around 5000-6000 Euro for two people for four weeks. Flights (1600 Euro), Car Rental (1800 Euro), Fuel (ca. 600-700 Euro), Accommodation (ca. 750 Euro), Food (no idea, maybe 1000-1200 Euro), Chirripo Climb (ca. 300 Euro), Park Entry Fees (ca. 300 Euro).
How did you refuel/carry enough fuel?
We did not carry any extra fuel, but we refueled whenever possible.
Can you share a map of your trip?

LucasTJahn Do you have to get shots to prevent dengue?
Donna Woodford I don’t think there are shots against dengue. In any case, we did not get any. The best protection against mosquitos tends to be long clothes and mosquito repellent :)

Does it rain a lot in Costa Rica?
Sheila More.... Costa Rica has two seasons... Winter it rains almost everyday in the afternoon.... Rarely a deluge but really wonderful. It’s our favorite time of the year. Summer is dry with afternoon breezes to winds that replace the rain. Costa Rica is really a magical place. I moved here to retire from many years living in San Francisco.

My favourite place in the world. Costa Rica is like another planet - it is magnificently beautiful. This is an awesome film, but you have to be there to truly appreciate the splendor that is Costa's Rica.

Hi Roy. It is definitely a beautiful documentary. Just remember Costa Rica has around 600 beaches, countless waterfalls, a lot of wildlife refuges and national parks. It has incredible caves, and beautiful mountains with amazing views to go hiking, stunning rivers, magical lakes and lagoons, fascinating islands, beautiful small country villages, indigenous communities, archeological sites, some nice city areas ard and a long etc. So, it is a very small country, but it gets really hard to explore it completely.
I visited Costa Rica just before the pandemic . All I can say - an amazingly beautiful and impressive country . I most definitely will go there again .
Your documentaries deserves lot and lots of awards.. You such an amazing story teller and your production is first class... This is too beautiful.

WHat a fantastic journey video you made! I visited Costa Rica in April 2016 with a team on a mission trip; my highlight was being 2 feet from a Coatimundi! The amazing giant moths and beetles. Spent most of the time at the camp working with one day swimming in a river and spa near volcano Arsenal. Your wonderful footage gave the opportunity to see so much more! Thank you!

Costa Rica is really beautiful. The nature, diversity of animals and plants is huge. There is lot see, it must be really exciting holiday for every nature lover.... Costa Rica is very ecological country, they protect their nature and value this treasure.

Yeah, because its too dangerous to embark on non-existent roads with a questionable 4x4 vehicle in places where you potentially have no phone connection or internet access. I don't blame the locals.
