    Update…They changed the way the throttle on the new models work. It does not work in pas 0 but does work in all other PAS levels now.

    • @misterasset
      @misterasset 2 роки тому +3

      They should just make the throttle work regardless of whatever PAS level you're in. The Rad bikes work that way and it's a nice assist at red lights even if you're not using PAS because these bikes are heavy.

    Just got mine that I ordered for my wife. Thanks for showing how to adjust the PAS, I want hers to start off really slow on 1 until she gets use to it at least. This bike is such a bargain for all the features it has, I'm a life long 30 plus year bike mechanic and I can assure anyone this is a great bike for its intended purpose which is recreation riding and some mild commuting and for its cost. My neighbor ordered a bike for his wife and its nice but for the same price he got a 250 watt motor, only one PAS mode which is wide open, no tail light, no disc brakes and no display other then a battery level display. I was kind of shocked how little of features it has. It does have a front rack and a basket but those are cheap enough to get if needed but the one PAS mode and no display was the deal killer for me on that rig. Still a decent bike overall but for the same money this bike is head and shoulders nicer. Thanks again for the great tutorial.

    I've watch lots of videos on the cityscape as I just made an impulse purchase of one yesterday and this is by far the best review I have uncovered. Very detailed including how to change factory settings and hitting potholes. I live in New Orleans and we have so many potholes that we actually have a "Pimp My Pothole' competition going on here. Great video!

    I love your video! I bought the same as this one (white) and I'm obsessed with watching videos on it, just for fun. I'm a 5'5" woman, 139 lbs., and while the bike handles very well, I dropped it on my left foot a week after receiving. Partly due to the weight, but mostly because I was stupid and forgot to get off the seat when stopping!
    At the lowest seat setting, I can touch my toes pretty well, but not flat footed, which I've heard is correct.
    I like that you mentioned the battery bracket, as that happened to me after dropping it. Figured it out, but had me baffled for a while, and I panicked.
    All in all, I adore this bike, and when my foot heals, I'll be cruising again. Your wife must Love you for this gift! 😁

      I would like to share one more thing for shorter people. I used a socket set to loosen the seat bolt in order to adjust the angle. It comes with the seat angle pointed up in the front. I adjusted mine to be straight horizontally. You can also slide the seat forward or back.
      Good to know to personalize your bike even more. 😊

    I had to adjust the battery bracket on my Heybike Mars. It's interesting to see that this bike has certain features such as internal cable routing and the chain guard and actual brake light that the Mars doesn't. Of course, this bike is intended for a different type of riding than the Mars. My original plan for ebiking was basic commuting and recreational riding on some paved trails. Just what this bike is for. The Mars is almost daring me to be more adventurous with the beefier frame, 4" tires, more powerful motor and larger battery.

  • @SandBox830
    @SandBox830 3 роки тому +4

    That rear light/brake indicator should be standard on ALL eBikes. And to think its on a sub $900 eBike. No excuses that this is not a standard in the industry. Its the best safety item you can have while riding with traffic. The ONLY negative I see is the throttle only on PAS 0 which would drive me crazy.

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  3 роки тому +2

      I agree on the throttle but it very nice having throttle on pas 0. I’ve gotten used to it on the Heybike. Mars but it would be nice if you could decide and change it in the settings bit to my knowledge you can’t.

    • @josunder100
      @josunder100 3 роки тому +1

      I see the point being made, but as Jeremiah demonstrated, you can use your PAS setting to go to 99 (won't let you do 100 because it's limited to two digits). So pedal a tiny bit at top PAS, and you're basically there without throttle.
      I changed mine from 0-3 to 0-5, and have them set to: 1=20%, 2=40%, 3=60%, 4=80%, 5=99. This offers me gradual increase in speed, but can easily zip to PAS 5 without throttle.

    • @jstar1000
      @jstar1000 2 роки тому

      My throttle doesn't work on 0 at all, nothing does but then the throttle works with the PAS mode I'm in.

    I was happy to see so much time spent on the front fender, as I did also. I'm not a bike junkie so can say from that angle that their assembly documentation is terrible. Fortunately I'm not completely helpless so was able to get everything squared away, taking my time to think things through or just searching the web for answers. You mentioned adjusting the brakes, which is a must: both front and back needed it for me. Once everything is together and adjusted. Nice bike. I hope it lasts.

    Throttle not working on the PAS modes except 0 is very disappointing. What I really love about my EcoTric is that throttle always works, so most of the time I just stay in 7th gear and use the throttle to get going from a stop in any PAS mode...

    • @SaroBW
      @SaroBW 3 роки тому +6

      Before I bought the Mars I emailed Heybike support to ask if there was a way to set the controller for throttle on demand. They said no, because they wanted people to pedal more. I thought I wouldn't like how it operates but it hasn't been that big of a deal. Switching to throttle only takes a couple taps of the down arrow on the controller. It also offers, as Jeremiah put it on his Heybike Mars video, a sort of "infinite PAS" in that you can just use the throttle at any speed you are pedaling at to help you along. Would I prefer throttle on demand? Sure. But I'd rather have the features the Mars has at the price I paid than get some bikes that cost more, have throttle on demand, but leave off things like fenders and really bright front and rear lights. Plus the battery life on the Mars is impressive. I would hope the Cityscape does similarly well respective of the lower powered motor and smaller battery.
      Of course, each person is going to have a different preference in that regards.

    • @TheCruisinCrew
      @TheCruisinCrew 3 роки тому

      @@SaroBW Yes, I understand there are workarounds and many people's preferences might be different. For me I just like that I can push my throttle any time, any mode and get going quick... I still pedal to get exercise of course.

Did yours come with the USB charger port or was that also an added feature after you got yours? Haven't used it but I like that in case I need some juice for my phone. I do have a question maybe you could answer. At 3:31 in the video you mention that the wattage rating has been whited out on the motor. Is it possible that it is the same 500 watt motor they put on your Mars, just with a 36volt battery instead of a 48volt battery?
    Have you ever tried putting your 48 volt battery into your wife’s Cityscape? Would it even physically fit?

The speed controller can be set from 36 volts to 48 volts by turning the bike on by pressing all three buttons down for about 5 seconds. What I did was buy a 2nd 36v battery and carry it with me on the rear cage, and swap them when the first one is running low, to double the range.

      I have to call BS, you either got a lemon which since it has a 2 year warranty that should not be a problem or your just an idiot. I'm going for the latter!

    I do not like folded up bike 2 I was just B would have fat tires instead of thin tires I wish this B would have been a throttle instead of thumb I like the Twister throttle and I wish despite would come in all different colors like a nice shiny red nice candy green apple neon yellow for at night time in case of emergency and I wish it would start put tracking device in these electric e-bikes for safety reasons if I have to pick this bike will be the white color that right now it has to do with money that I don't have but I'll tell you people that in the different story

    Terrible customer service. My bike arrived damaged. Heybike expects me to fix it myself. They will send the part but I need to fix it myself. You will need to learn to be a bike mechanic to fix any problems or pay someone to do it for you.

      Unfortunately That is how most online bike companies work. Sometimes they will reimburse you for the shop fee tho.

      @@JeremiahMcintosh It's shocking how terrible their communication is. It's like talking to a bot. They asked the same question right after I answer it. Very difficult to deal with. Lesson learned-never buy an online bike.

      Nope not a fast talker just telling it like it is! I’d rather be honest. The very small commission helps support the channel and the costs associated with creating these informational videos.

    Heybike is a bogus company - no one at the company has any idea of how to fix the product and I suspect no one at Heybike so much as owns a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. You'll love this bike right up until it stops working (took about three hundred miles for mine to die) and then you'll be stuck with a useless piece of trash that can't be fixed.
