Great, informative video! Your review led me to order the Heybike Mars. Received it here in VA via FedEx in 6 days. Not my first e-bike. Primarily I will use it for hunting in rolling farm trails and forest paths. So far, I am very happy with the Mars. It’s smaller size is easier for an older outdoorsman to mount and the folding format is much easier to transport. I have ridden mine over a lot of farm pasture and undeveloped back roads and thus far it has performed to my needs. I do check fasteners for tightness after a hard ride. The 500w motor does run out of bandwidth on steeper grades, but I have found that, if you stay in the gears with pedal assist, the bike will climb anywhere I need to go. Your insights into programming the PAS levels was critical to my application. We’ll see how the bike holds up in the cold, damp wilds of the deer woods. Thanks again.
Took my bike out for an hour ride. It is a class above the lectric XP in my opinion. Only thing that isn't better than the XP is the seat post isn't long enough for tall people. I'm glad I gave the XP to my wife and the hey bike for myself
This is not specific to the Heybike but should give you a general idea of how to program it. You can also search for KD21C and probably find some videos on it. www.key-display.com/Downloads/User%20Manual/Users%20Manual-KD21C-KDS.pdf
Just got my Heybike Mars today. . . Took about 20 min to put together. . Absolutely LOVE IT! . . Gonna use it to commute back and forth to my barbershop about a 1.3 miles away. . . Couldn’t be happier! . . . Thanks for your review. .
Thanks J.M, Another great review as usual. I went for the enclosed battery style from your G Force T42 vid... It's great that there are many different styles for different folks' taste preferences... Keep up the good work my friend, We love your efforts!
It seems like the e-bike companies are addressing comfort issues: seat, seat post, front fork. But none are offering wider swept-back handlebar, which is equally important for a comfortable ride.

I still have to test them side by side but the display did show it was using up to 760w when I was going up a hill. I’ll plan on testing this in the future.
Thank you for your review and for the discount code, which still works. I placed my order this morning. My commute to work isn't far, but soon I will be able to let my F-150 sit in the driveway while I ride to work on my bike.
Hi Jeremiah. Big fan of yours! I find being able to use the throttle while in PAS mode is a safety feature for me. I have a Lectric XP regular and will be getting a Lectric XP 2.0 Step Thru any week now. Keep up the good work J.
Thank you for going through how to set the PAS levels! I just got my ebike (a different manufacturer, but very similar frame and console) Out of the box, PAS 1 was set to 50%, which is way too fast for casual riding. I was able to reprogram it exactly the way you demonstrated, and now it's perfect. Looking forward to you going through the rest of the programmable settings of the console menu.
I would say so far it is a good contender. I cannot compare it to the 2.0 because I don’t have one yet but both bikes have benefits over each other. It’s really going to come down to personal preference on what you were looking for but so far I’m liking it and plan on doing further testing. But you are correct there is one benefit you will probably get it a lot quicker.
How fast i could receive the bike after ordering would be a major reason to choose a particular bike. The speed of delivery would or could be worth up to $300 more . What is the delivery time for the XP. ? Im scared if the answer
After reading many of the comments I have this bit of advice to offer. As a previous owner of a Rad Rover 5 ebike I did much research and deliberation before my purchase. I am currently in the market for a replacement bike. What I learned/ concluded from my research and ownership is two very important things. Firstly, all of these bikes are mass produced from parts made in china, this Includes bikes sold by Rad and Lectric. Furthermore the individual parts aren’t even made by the same company. Rather all the individual parts and electronics come from many different companies and assembled to hopefully work as advertised by the company selling the bike to the consumer. It’s really kind of a mish mosh of parts put together into a system. As a result, the bike the consumer receives may work for a long time, work for a while or not work at all. Same with any electronics. Expect there to be some tinkering that will be needed on a very regular basis. Second point, as mentioned all these budget ebikes come out of china. So when, not if you need support you will be far better off buying from a company that has a well established business in the states, such as Rad or Lectric. #notsponsered. You will actually get support from either of those companies. This is important because many of the local bikes shops in your area will not know how to work on your Chinese ebike or they will simply refuse. I ran into a problem with my Rad Rover and it wasn’t even electronic related, but when I reached out to two of the big name pedal bike companies they wouldn’t even attempt to work on my bike, per their policy. I was able to find a small bike shop ran by a single owner who was willing to let me bring in the bike to see if he could make the repair. It was a gear shifter problem. Yes I could have gone through rad but, that would have taken more time than I thought was necessary for a simple repair. Point is you may have to search for a place to have your bike serviced and you may have limited to no support with a lot of these Chinese ebike sellers. So my suggestion is to carefully research your purchase and if possible go with a company that has USA support. You may pay a bit more up front but, the headaches it saves you will be worth it in the long run, when you can just pick up the phone and talk to support right away. Good luck!
Thanks so much for taking the time to give your personal opinion on these ebike s .. I've been searching for a while now and it's very hard weeding thru all the fly by night manufacturers and junk.. Super time consuming to get honest reviews when so of the reviewers are given free bikes to review🧐
LTBF, thanks so much for your insights. I live in Colombia, land of really steep hills and far from the States. Just beginning my search. Pretty daunting to this non tech non mechanical. Given that, any thoughts on the right bike for steep hills and reasonable maintenance?
Great content. Seems like you confirmed the Mars controller is a 15amp unit which makes for about a 700 peak watt motor. The Ranger has a slightly higher top speed than the Mars. Does it have a higher amp controller than the 15 amp Mars unit? and is the Ranger putting higher peak watt output?
Thank you so much for the excellent review. I just bought one last week. At first, after I had everything together, battery fully charged, I could not get it to run, and it kept showing an error 24, which the manual says is a problem with the electric motor. So, after many emails.(There is NO phone # for tech support.). Finally, they referred me to some youtube video which showed taking the one wire apart and make sure the arrows are lined up to reconnect. That seemed to fix the problem, and took the bike on a 5 mile ride. It was wonderful. NOW we started on a trip today, and went about a quarter of a mile, and again the error 24 shows up. So, I will write another email. I just wish someone could walk me through what I can do.
Are you planning on doing a video on upgrades/accessories like you did with the Lectric XP, or do you think the same upgrades, such as brakes, would apply to this bike? I've ordered this bike in part because the shipping delays for the Lectric bikes, combined with the reported controller errors, and partly because I was able to get this bike for about $150 less than the Lectric XP 2.0.
I love my Mars, Gonna order the new Ranger stepthru. Only complaint is Mars could use bigger chainwheel in front,,,,PA 3 is too fast to keep up with the pedaling. Battery lasts a long time. No regrets on this purchase ! Let's go Brandon !
Bike looks decent, and I like the red liner showing through the rim. The head stem bolt torque is not a set number; you adjust it so the bearings are loose enough to let the wheel turn freely, but not tight enough to bind, then you tighten up the two bolts on the head stem. The Lectric's internal battery is cleaner looking, but the external battery allows for more power and expansion possibilities. Looks like the same kind of hinge lock though, which is not optimal. I've seen that style pop open while riding. Adjustable PAS levels are awesome! The missing brake light function needs to be fixed though.
I would love to do a comparison and I’m supposed to be getting a 2.0 so if and when I do I will make a comparison. Also I plan on doing a live stream about the differences between all my E bikes to answer questions Just not sure exactly when but keep an eye out for it if you’re interested.
How long did it take for the bike to arrive from the day ordered it? Is there any costumer support if you order it through Amazon, and how much was the tax?
I like the looks of it. Black with red really make it pop.I would like if it had throttle in all but zero pas like most ebikes. But I like the adjustability of pas power and that you can dial in how many pas levels you like.
What app do you use for speed and mileage? My lectric XP seems to be off by at least one mile per hour and that also makes the odometer off. Do you know if that can be fixed in the settings? Great video interesting alternative to the XP but it only comes in black. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you. I normally use an app called Relive. On the Xp depending on when you ordered it you can change the tire size to make the odometer more accurate.
On the Heybike I’ve noticed it is set for 23 inches and it is pretty close because the chaoyang tires on the Heybike are about 1” taller than the CST tires on my Lectrics. Maybe because they have a Dino Skin puncture resistant 3mm lining in them?
I tried changing the settings but all it did was blink. Pressing + or - didn’t change it from 22. I was able to change other settings without a problem. Any thoughts?
Watching other videos state that the build of the bike does not seem to look as though the folding points will last. What is your opinion of the build and will the folding points last or do you think they will become weak quickly?
Should you let the battery run completely down before charging? Or is it ok to charge when on 1 bar of battery? How long do batteries last given daily use?
You don't have to drain completely, but you also don't want to keep charging it at like 60%, it will reduce life of battery. With regular use they last atleast 2-3 years. Also, never let them get cold, it's bad for battery and if you're going to store a battery for awhile charge it to like 80%, don't store it empty.
Looks like this bike will compete with XP. It's a little bigger all the way around looking at the measurements, 4 inch tires vs 3. Iv'e heard the 3 inch are more agile, better "bike" feel. It would be hard without a side by side look and ride. Nice video and look forward to the comparison video...:)
How does this compare to the lectric bike. Which one would you prefer? I been interested in the lectric bike but this one seems pretty good also. The availability of the heybike is what has me right now. Lectric is 6 weeks for delivery
Compared to the Lectric 2.0 the Heybike has a bigger battery and more range but it is not a name brand battery like Lectric has. It’s more comfortable with the seat and included suspension seatpost. Charge port for charging a phone or accessories. Bigger 4” puncture resistant tires and adjustable pas levels however it is capped at around 20mph and not sure it can be unlocked to a class 3 ebike . Motor power seems similar on both but Lectric may have a slight edge because it uses an 18amp controller and Heybike uses a 15amp controller. I need to test further. Here are benefits of Lectric..Lectric is Faster, has a stepthru model, and customer service is known to be good. Heybike is too new to tell but they might be good as well. I’ll be making a live stream in the future about all my different E-bikes answering live questions
@@JeremiahMcintosh So far my experience with Heybike support has been very good. They reply to my emails within 2 to 3 hours. I have not had any problems with my bike, so I can't address any concerns regarding returns or replacements. Heybike support confirmed to me that the Mars cannot be unlocked to Class 3. At least not officially. So, unless someone discovers a hack, 20 mph is the top speed with either PAS or throttle. I'm thoroughly impressed by the range of the Mars. Today I did around 15 mph, mostly in PAS 2, but about 2 to 3 miles in PAS 3 and 4 because I was on a street with a lot of cars passing me. I started out with a full charge and the meter ticked down from 5 to 4 bars just as I arrived home. I haven't really tested the bike outright, but I've managed nearly 50 miles on just over a single charge, and I weigh over 310 lbs. I can still hit 20 mph with PAS or throttle when I want to. I'll take the range over the extra speed any day.
Wow!!! I’ve been seriously looking at the Rad utility bike. Having watched your review of this Heybike, I’m not so sure now. Lots of fun stuff on this bike and still foldable. Before I pull the trigger on this one, you mentioned another video long range ride. Any idea how long that will take to post??? Tc from Nevada
Just got my heybike mars in 9-2022 and the back lights flash when the brakes are active. Zero, you can’t use throttle but 1-3 you can use throttle. Idk why this bike is so backwards compared to mine. Also noting the heybike decals, mine doesn’t have the whole website stamped on the side, just heybike. Plus the hand grips on mine came with the faux leather. I would have returned my bike if I got your version.
This is like the US equiv of the Fortis sold in AU, it has no throttle, the 2021 models don't have plug wire on controller to connect a throttle to, no walk mode, display not all that water resistant, has CST BFT tyres and 250w motor and 25kph out of the box, the last 4 PAS levels hidden P-05 will unhide them 33kph achievable
Hey Jeremiah, Thanks for the video's. Did you figure out how to get the throttle to work while in assist modes? Have you or can you try the Throttle Level Enable/Disable HF-Y represents throttle level is enabled. HF-N represents throttle level is disabled. The default value is N. To change throttle level function, press the UP/DOWN button to select Y or N. Briefly press the MODE button and then access Throttle Enable Settings page. Hold the MODE button for 2s to confirm and then return to previous menu. Thanks again Randy
I would be cautious with any electric bike in the rain and snow. Most are water resistant to a certain point but not waterproof. I wouldn’t take any of my bikes out in the rain if I didn’t have to.
It really comes down to what you are looking for in a bike. I go over some of the differences in some of the other comments. Let me know if you have any further questions. There is also an excellent deal on the Lectrics currently for a Black Friday sale and there is an affiliate link to it in the description of my Lectric videos and my community page if you’re interested in checking it out.
@@JeremiahMcintosh thanks for the reply I watched all your videos on these two bikes. Battery range is key, a lot of dirt roads and no elevation, plus I’m 200lbs, which would you suggest?
If range is key and 20mph is fast enough for you I would say the Heybike Mars. I’m also going to be reviewing the Heybike Ranger soon, it’s a step through with larger battery and 25mph. Also my coupon code should be reactivated soon and the link is in the description if your interested on saving a few bucks.
Have you seen the LandX Q5 electric bike? I very much dislike to admit it but only a few months after getting a Lectric XO 2.0 … it’s. the first bike that has already made me wish I waited. It’s like XP but just not so clunky (like the fenders, my biggest XP pet peeve) and it’s top speed is 31mph. It just _looks_ cooler,, and I’m anxious to see (and surprised I’m not) reviews on it.
I like the idea of being able to change %of PAS changes per level. My ebike has too much punch on level one so that I'm going to fast and not peddling much. I bought a Blix Aveny. Not real happy. It's a big framed bike and at 5'1" I have the seat almost all the way down. Blix should have put min at 5'4" . I keep trying it but I'm thinking of getting a foldable like this bike you are testing. I love your videos!! And all suggestions
Thank You. Of all the bikes I have tested the Lectric 2.0 step thru has the lowest seat height but doesn’t have any adjustability of the pas levels like the heybike and is pretty peppy off the start.
I just ordered a Heybike Ranger, I'm 70 and haven't been on a bike (pedal power only) in 30 years. I'm also not that mechanically inclined. I'm especially concerned that the brakes are properly adjusted before. I ride it. Should I spring for a few extra bucks before I ride it and have a bike shop assemble it?
Hi there? Anybody can tell me if, when folded, this bike can be lifted and taken, say, into the subway or along a not too long flight of stairs, or whether it is literally impossible with that weight? Thanks!!
It will be difficult to hoist unless you lift weights regularly. Additionally the bike doesn't have a locking mechanism to keep it folded, so you'll be fighting to keep the bike folded when rolling it (I had to buy short cargo straps).
Suggestion....on folding bikes, how about giving more detail about the lock at the fold that holds the bike together? It seems no one ever gives any/much information on that. Thanks.
@@JeremiahMcintosh Thanks for your videos. Lots of good information. What would be your choice between a Lectric XP 2.0 and a Rad Mini 4 ? It seems all folding bikes have handlebars that are really high. Just watching videos, it seems that the Rad Mini 4 bars adjust a little lower than others? I'm a road biker just thinking about an ebike for fun, but that extreme upright position isn't a plus. No wonder everyone talk about uncomfortable seats....a road bike position puts a lot of the weight on your hands so there's not as much weight on your seat.
I really can’t say because I’ve never had a rad bike but Have you thought of a commuter style bike if that’s what your used too? Or do you want a folding bike?
@@JeremiahMcintosh I'm a pretty strong, average rider....40 or 50 miles with no trouble...on a regular bike, but I just wanted a folding bike. I think it's probably going to come down to a Lectric XP 2.0....that looks like maybe the best bang for the buck with pretty good customer service....but it's still great to check out all the videos. Thanks for posting so much information and replying to the questions.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I just watched your Lectric 2.0 review again, and it looks like the handlebars can be down a bit lower than I've seen in several reviews.
I just got my Heybike Mars version 2 and love it so far. I am 5’1” and i ride it just fine. On the lowest seatpost setting its even a little short for me. My feet cannot reach the floor when I am sitting on the seat but typically if your saddle height is adjusted correctly your feet should not be able to reach the floor anyway.
I bought the quick discount peddles I take them off when I go into a store where I can see it it makes it hard for them to just jump on it and take off even if you have the key. You still wouldn't be able to catch someone taking off on it if you're peddles are on. Now they can't just take off.
In other comments I explained the differences between the two and really you need to decide for your self which one is right for you because everyone’s needs and wants are different.
Are you able to change the number of PAS levels on the Lectric? I find 5 pas levels isn't enough and 9 would be more gradual since there there is a large gap in speed between pas 2-3. Seemed in earlier Lectrics it was setting P05? I think it's locked down now on Lectric 2.0
For the Heybike Mars, did the company ever get back to you on other settings you can switch. If so could you list them. My instructions don't even show going to a deeper level of user settings. It only shows 8.
Not really but read this. Not all adjustments will make a difference but this should give you a good idea of what the settings do. www.manualslib.com/manual/1360429/Key-Disp-Kd21c.html#manual
Are hey bikes and lectric bikes made in the same facility, because that bike looks just like the lectric xp bike, even the welding where the parts were melded together looks the same
There's about 10 factory's in china that manufacture most ebikes, especially the folding bikes! I just ordered one from china £680 for the engwe ep2 pro
I just got my Mars bike today and I was wondering do I need to have the battery in it in order to ride it? Like can I just use the bike as a normal bike with out having to worry about breaking anything
Me too. The Ranger. It's like a step thru Mars with a higher capacity battery, sturdier rear rack and more sophisticated LCD panel and mag wheels. The website lists a top speed of 25mph throttle only. Jeremiah, do you think you may be able to review one in the near future?
I do not like it only having 3 pas levels and the throttle only works in pas 0. I will take the Lectric. I have had my Lectric for a year with no issues.
For the same price as the lectric 2.0 it's not bad since lectric downgraded the tires to 3 inches and this has a slightly bigger battery but the center of gravity is still way way better on a xp with the battery in the frame and forward. Tbh lectric for this one reason still has the better product. Ride quality of a xp looks much better but ok find
To be honest I was impressed with the ride quality. The battery under the seat actually makes the front end lighter. Also the bigger battery and USB port on it is a nice feature.
It’s basically like a regular bicycle without pedal assist but you have full throttle whenever you need it. They have recently changed it and One the new bikes shipping now throttle does not work in PAS 0.
Got mine yesterday and it wont throttle up under load. Won't even climb over my foot. Junk after 1 mile. I emailed HeyBike and messaged on social media.. well see what happens. This review had me sold and now I'm out $1000.
@@JeremiahMcintosh very intermittently and briefly then it drops out. I have to feather the throttle to keep it going but if I am over 25% throttle, the motor chugs. I just uploaded a video showing what happens when I hit throttle on PAS 0. The wattage doesnt ever climb either when this happens. Seems abnormal. Check my page for my upload on it.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I read that about the change - I ordered this bike Oct 6 and it was delivered Oct 14th... and its the old version according to how it functions.
I have one of the original 250w folding 20" almost 5 years old. No fat tires. Striped all the lights fenders rack.. etc. Even after you take the battery out and put it in your backpack it's just about as heavy as I can lift onto the front rack of the metro bus. So... these new modern wonders even with alloy frame are still in the 60l+b range compared to the 40+ pound range of mine. Seems somebody has made the decision to ride out to the end of the housing track and go useless dirt biking rather than ride into the city and GET somewhere. Hmmm? who could that be?
20 mph max ... with pedalling im getting 23mph i get mine Heybike Mars today ; ).. upgrade freewheel like Jeremiah do on Lectric xp u get to 25 or more i think
I’m not sure about the shipping time from their website but on Amazon it says 10-14 days to arrive. I’m assuming it should be about the same. You could always reach out to them to see.
9/22/21 Update. It appears on some of the new shipments throttle does not work on PAS 0 like my bike but it does work when in all PAS modes.

Not reading all that shit but thank you for writing it
LTBF, thanks so much for your insights. I live in Colombia, land of really steep hills and far from the States. Just beginning my search. Pretty daunting to this non tech non mechanical. Given that, any thoughts on the right bike for steep hills and reasonable maintenance?
Are there any eBikes that are NOT Chinese hybrids under $2000?
Not sure what you mean by hybrids?
Oh man sucks you’re having problems. Which wire was it? The motor wire?
@@JeremiahMcintosh Yes, the motor wire.
I would unplug and check it again and follow the wire from the wheel to the controller and make sure everything looks ok.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I did pull that plug and reconnected it. I will retrace again more carefully tomorrow
Also check where the wire goes into the motor and make sure it looks OK and not broken or damaged.
Got my cityscape hey bike two days ago and I'm happy. The start of the summer of me😀
Awesome that’s great to hear! Happy riding!
Question for you? How long did it take for FedEx to deliver yours?

Let's go Brandon !
Who is Brandon?
Whatever you do... don't look up.
Thank you Brandon
@@JeremiahMcintosh Seriously? You don't know about Brandon?
Bike looks decent, and I like the red liner showing through the rim. The head stem bolt torque is not a set number; you adjust it so the bearings are loose enough to let the wheel turn freely, but not tight enough to bind, then you tighten up the two bolts on the head stem. The Lectric's internal battery is cleaner looking, but the external battery allows for more power and expansion possibilities. Looks like the same kind of hinge lock though, which is not optimal. I've seen that style pop open while riding. Adjustable PAS levels are awesome! The missing brake light function needs to be fixed though.
By the way, excellent video!
Thank you.
Great content as always let's see a comparison with hey bike and the lectric
I would love to do a comparison and I’m supposed to be getting a 2.0 so if and when I do I will make a comparison. Also I plan on doing a live stream about the differences between all my E bikes to answer questions Just not sure exactly when but keep an eye out for it if you’re interested.
What do you like better, this bike or the Lectric XP? Thanks for your good reviews.
They both have their own benefits and depends what you are looking for in a bike.
Great information. However, could tell me what the max capacity is please? Cuz I'm a big man.
Max load stated on the website is 330 lbs.
How does it do on hills? Can you provide more details of offroad performance?
Just ordered the heybike! Excited. Is there an explanation for all this tech stuff? Hope there is a manual.
Awesome! Let us know when you get it and how you like it! Happy riding!
Yes I agree the pas adjustability is a really nice feature and wish it was like that on all Ebikes.
The cycrown cynight and this heybike mars what would be your choice?
What app do you use for speed and mileage? My lectric XP seems to be off by at least one mile per hour and that also makes the odometer off. Do you know if that can be fixed in the settings? Great video interesting alternative to the XP but it only comes in black. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you. I normally use an app called Relive. On the Xp depending on when you ordered it you can change the tire size to make the odometer more accurate.
On my lectric bike in the settings wheel size is set 22" speedometer is really close
On the Heybike I’ve noticed it is set for 23 inches and it is pretty close because the chaoyang tires on the Heybike are about 1” taller than the CST tires on my Lectrics. Maybe because they have a Dino Skin puncture resistant 3mm lining in them?
I will be riding tomorrow and will see if changing the setting works, thanks.
I tried changing the settings but all it did was blink. Pressing + or - didn’t change it from 22. I was able to change other settings without a problem. Any thoughts?
Hey Jeremiah. I've been looking at this bike. Do you think it's pretty equally good for the street AND the trail?
Yes it does well on both on and off road.
@@JeremiahMcintosh that's great.
Do you have a video or any advice of how the Lectric xp 3.0 and HeyBike Mars compare?
I don’t yet but you can check out my hill test video to see how it compares to the 2.0
Watching other videos state that the build of the bike does not seem to look as though the folding points will last.
Thanks Dave. I’m supposed to be getting a 2.0 eventually so when I do I would like to compare them.
The one thing I'm most concerned about is how strong the handle bar shaft happens to be.
@@JeremiahMcintosh thank you for the reply. Look forward to your live stream.
Thanks for the update I’m glad your enjoying it!
@@JeremiahMcintosh the code didn't work. What is the best fat tire ebike for a 5 foot 1 inch woman with a suspension for under like 1200 bucks? Thanks

Check out my channel the range test is already published.
Mine was one of the original shipments and they’ve updated it since then.
@@JeremiahMcintosh that I’m grateful for.
Have you or can you try the Throttle Level Enable/Disable
HF-Y represents throttle level is enabled. HF-N represents throttle
level is disabled. The default value is N.
To change throttle level function, press the UP/DOWN button to
select Y or N.

Hold the MODE button for 2s to confirm and then return to previous

I’ll try it but don’t think it works.I’ll get back to you.
Thank you for the review would love to see the follow up review in a couple of months. Thomyt
Would you recommend this bike if I might have to use it in the rain or snow
I would be cautious with any electric bike in the rain and snow. Most are water resistant to a certain point but not waterproof. I wouldn’t take any of my bikes out in the rain if I didn’t have to.
Ok which is the better ebike lectric xp2.0 or heybike mars?
Going to buy one this weekend!
@@JeremiahMcintosh thanks for the reply
I watched all your videos on these two bikes.
@@JeremiahMcintosh thanks, keep up the vids
How does it ride with a completely dead battery? Obviously harder but could you get a decent distance?
It’s doable but definitely harder. Check out my video about it here. ua-cam.com/video/QhRUS_6v7sQ/v-deo.html
No I have never heard of it. Sorry
Oh it doesn't come with a rack but it has holes where you can put one if you want to
It comes with a rear rack
If your not mechanically inclined then I would definitely have a local bike shop go over it.
I’m 4’11” with a 27” inseam. What’s the seat settings
I plan on buying this bike, but I want to know if you can put a cargo trailer mounted on the back wheel?
That's a very pretty bike. Love the rims.
Hi there? Anybody can tell me if, when folded, this bike can be lifted and taken, say, into the subway or along a not too long flight of stairs, or whether it is literally impossible with that weight? Thanks!!
It will be difficult to hoist unless you lift weights regularly. Additionally the bike doesn't have a locking mechanism to keep it folded, so you'll be fighting to keep the bike folded when rolling it (I had to buy short cargo straps).
it is very heavy
I have the other variation, Heybike Ranger. It's about 70lbs, I can lift it with 1 hand to take it outside. I keep mine inside.
Suggestion....on folding bikes, how about giving more detail about the lock at the fold that holds the bike
together? It seems no one ever gives any/much information on that. Thanks.
Thank You for your suggestions I’ll try covering that in future videos.
I'm a road biker
just thinking about an ebike for fun, but that extreme upright position isn't a plus.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I'm a pretty strong, average rider....40 or 50 miles with no trouble...on a regular bike, but
I just wanted a folding bike. I think it's probably going to come down to a Lectric XP 2.0....that looks like maybe the
best bang for the buck with pretty good customer service....but it's still great to check out all the videos. Thanks for posting so much information and replying to the questions.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I just watched your Lectric 2.0 review again, and it looks like the handlebars can be down a bit lower than I've seen in several reviews.
If someone rides it on a farm does that make it a "Haybike"?
😂 lol. 🤷♂️
As someone who's 5'2 the handle bars look pretty high, compared to the seats hight. Do you think someone who's 5'2 could ride this?
I just got my Heybike Mars version 2 and love it so far. I am 5’1” and i ride it just fine. On the lowest seatpost setting its even a little short for me. My feet cannot reach the floor when I am sitting on the seat but typically if your saddle height is adjusted correctly your feet should not be able to reach the floor anyway.
I bought the quick discount peddles I take them off when I go into a store where I can see it it makes it hard for them to just jump on it and take off even if you have the key. You still wouldn't be able to catch someone taking off on it if you're peddles are on. Now they can't just take off.
Haha that’s a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Great, very informative video! I am really excited to purchase an e-bike for myself! Thanks for the info!
You’re welcome Jason. Glad to help
which bike would you choose, Lectric or Heybike?
In other comments I explained the differences between the two and really you need to decide for your self which one is right for you because everyone’s needs and wants are different.
Are you able to change the number of PAS levels on the Lectric? I find 5 pas levels isn't enough and 9 would be more gradual since there there is a large gap in speed between pas 2-3. Seemed in earlier Lectrics it was setting P05? I think it's locked down now on Lectric 2.0
No you can’t change how many but personally I like 5.
this is a really detailed review, goodjob!
Thank You
Thank you so much for this video. Now I will go order!!!
do you know if the seat height is adjustable to make lower? Aswell as the handle bar height? Can I make it lower the it is in the video?
For the Heybike Mars, did the company ever get back to you on other settings you can switch. If so could you list them. My instructions don't even show going to a deeper level of user settings. It only shows 8.
Not really but read this. Not all adjustments will make a difference but this should give you a good idea of what the settings do. www.manualslib.com/manual/1360429/Key-Disp-Kd21c.html#manual
I am 5'6" but with only a 30" inseam. Will this be too large for me even though it has 20 inch tires? The published information on this is confusing.
My inseam is also 30” but I’m 5’8 so you should be ok.
Are hey bikes and lectric bikes made in the same facility, because that bike looks just like the lectric xp bike, even the welding where the parts were melded together looks the same
No and they are completely different and look nothing alike.
Yes but it would be pretty hard to pedal!
Riding without a battery is fine . Just like if key was turned off . Remember that you have no lights and no horn .

I just got an email from Heybike introducing their new ebike with a step-through frame, mag wheels, and several upgrades.
Me too. The Ranger. It's like a step thru Mars with a higher capacity battery, sturdier rear rack and more sophisticated LCD panel and mag wheels. The website lists a top speed of 25mph throttle only. Jeremiah, do you think you may be able to review one in the near future?
Yes I might get one soon.
Which is better, the Hey Bike or the Lectric
Only thing I noticed from reading reviews and watching them... lectric ebikes are a bit faster ...hey bike does 20 mph top pas or full throttle mode
Vs Engwe would be more interesting to know
Heybike
What app are you using on your phone to compare speed and distance?
In this video I used an app called speed box but normally on long rides I use an app called Relive.
I do not like it only having 3 pas levels and the throttle only works in pas 0. I will take the Lectric. I have had my Lectric for a year with no issues.
You can change it in the settings to 3, 5, 7, or 9 pas levels.
I knew there were hacks Undocumented Functions Bravo JM
Nice review. Do you use a special bike gps app and if so is it free?
I normally use an free app called Relive because it tracks your trip and gives you a nice video at the end.
Map my ride is also a good app that maps everything to.
If in settings you change the wheel size from 23 to say 20, would that affect your overall speed???? Does changing wheel size affect speed??
No it does not change your actual speed it just changes what the speedometer shows on the display.
@@JeremiahMcintosh i just thought it might be a way to cheat a couple more MPH out of the machine. Thanks
Id take much better center of gravity over a light front end any day tbh
No comparison, hey bike is better.
The branding looks fugly - is it just decals you can take off?
No you can not but you can cover it up with vinyl.
Are these folding bikes capable of bringing on buses or subways etc ?
I’m not sure if allowed but they are pretty heavy and Still tough to carry when folded.
Can you explain how the throttle only working at PAS 0 affects the ride?
It’s basically like a regular bicycle without pedal assist but you have full throttle whenever you need it.
They have recently changed it and One the new bikes shipping now throttle does not work in PAS 0.
Great review Josh!

They have changed the newer models so the throttle does not work in PAS 0 it only works in PAS1 through 5 now
