    Some self-regulation tips:
    -Breathwork/Belly breathing
    - Moving slowly
    -Wrapping yourself in a blanket
    -Cold water exposure
    -Talking about your feelings with a friend or loved one
    Journaling or drawing
    - Warm shower or bath
    - Muscular relaxation
    - Hug yourself with compassion and kindness
    -Grouding (feet in the grass or sand)
    - Reading a comfortable book
    - Listening to lullabies
    - Recognizing your needs and meet them ofc
    Thank you for this precious video, dear :)

    Thank you sooo much for this information. I get really hard on myself when I get emotional because all my life especially from family I have been told stop crying and keep going and if I slow down for just a minute I’m a failure. I completely abandoned the negative emotions that was telling me what I needed at that moment. I’m going to really start listening to my needs❤

    Eliciaaa my girl thank you thank you!! Just got back from my first real solo trip and I am so proud of myself and how far I’ve come in the past year. Finding you was a fucking blessing and it’s because of your words that I’ve been able to sustain a strong relationship with my mind - something that has been a huge part of my healing journey. So excited for what’s coming in terms of your vids but also for life in general (for the first time in a long timeeee 😭!!). Sending you so much love and abundance cuz that shit really is all around and inside ❤❤❤

    Love your stuff, but the “circumstances don’t matter” phrase is pretty dismissive and disrespectful to a lot of viewers. Some circumstances really do matter a lot.

    • @theglowupsecretspodcast
      @theglowupsecretspodcast  4 місяці тому +5

      I’ve always made it abundantly clear that when I’m saying circumstances don’t matter it’s not that they don’t exist or don’t actually matter. Coming from someone who’s withstood incredibly hard circumstances, I will agree to disagree with you on this one.

    • @SunlitSisterhood
      @SunlitSisterhood 4 місяці тому +3

      @@theglowupsecretspodcast I'm sorry, but I just don't quite understand what you're trying to say -- it's not abundantly clear. It seems that an effective paraphrase of your comment is "when I say circumstances don't matter, it's not that they don't actually matter." But there's no elaboration on what you really mean there. Every human goes through incredibly hard circumstances. And at least once, those circumstances will matter so incredibly much that life gets flipped upside-down. I stand by what I said -- you should clarify what you mean, because your statement comes off as dismissive and disrespectful.

    • @torianichole831

    • @readinggeorgeeliot1489
      @readinggeorgeeliot1489 3 місяці тому +5

      Maybe it would be easier to break down what Elicia has touched upon in several of her videos with this summary:
      Every person is born into a set of circumstances. And it's sometimes 'survival of the fittest' so there are bound to be many who have learnt to react, not respond, to certain stimuli with a pre-recorded set of actions because that's what they did to survive from a difficult childhood. But after a certain point in life, those recorded 'reactions' and the internal narrative surrounding those survival skills might not be self-sustaining anymore. So one of the questions that comes up is: is the person in question still expecting some sort of apology from those who have harmed them? But will that apology really give the person the closure that they seek? Or will it simply be a feel-good thing that happened, but didn't really address the core issues?
      All to say, any narrative that a person has about their life comes from them. Sure, there are certain circumstances that will require a lot of effort to navigate and it can feel like life is betting against them, which is also a narrative, but that doesn't mean no one person has to focus on what they can't do and can't try to do what they can do at the moment of crisis. Especially when the crisis does not constitute bodily harm or lack of bodily autonomy. The 'circumstances doesn't matter' means that a narrative can always be changed to what a person wants it to be to motivate themselves. Or don't. Since the choice of any narrative is up to the person living their life.
