I’m usually a podcast girly, but i was scrolling through YT not realizing that this is the podcast that i listen to. This was a much needed video especially after my therapy session. Cheers to everyone in their 20s just figuring it out as we go.
Eliciaaa when I tell you you’ve been dropping heat back to back 😩 literally each video is something I’m currently navigating through and lorrdt you put things into words that I struggle to put together myself
Confirmation because I just told myself to stop letting others control me and my day with my emotions. I’m learning to put my energy where it’s needed the most
Thank you sooo much for this information. I get really hard on myself when I get emotional because all my life especially from family I have been told stop crying and keep going and if I slow down for just a minute I’m a failure. I completely abandoned the negative emotions that was telling me what I needed at that moment. I’m going to really start listening to my needs❤
Eliciaaa my girl thank you thank you!! Just got back from my first real solo trip and I am so proud of myself and how far I’ve come in the past year. Finding you was a fucking blessing and it’s because of your words that I’ve been able to sustain a strong relationship with my mind - something that has been a huge part of my healing journey. So excited for what’s coming in terms of your vids but also for life in general (for the first time in a long timeeee 😭!!). Sending you so much love and abundance cuz that shit really is all around and inside ❤❤❤
I could not have watched this episode at a more perfect time in my life. Amazing points today Elicia seriously. I felt like every point u made I was just going “omg you’re right- omggg you’re right- OMGGG YOU’RE SO RIGHT” especially at around the 22:23 minute mark. Fave episode so far.
omg i literally feel like we had the same upbringing because everything you’ve mentioned about your parents/childhood and how it’s affected your emotions and personality is JUST like me bdjzjdjd
That makes 3 of us cause literally EVERYTHING she said resonated thoroughly 🥲 its toughhhhh out here but kudos to us for breaking down these feelings that we were taught to think of as “wrong”
By far what I've heard from you has been great. I've always found it had to show up for my inner child but today you've digged deep and I fully understand and know what to do when I spiral out of control. Thank you so so much for what you are doing for us, you are truly a big sister I've never had and with what I've learned from you I can truly show up as a big sis to my younger siblings ❤❤❤
I was listening to Tate McRae back when she was just posting on UA-cam. Teenage Mind was one of the first songs I learned on the ukulele. I'm SO proud of how far she's come. Her music is AMAZING
Can you talk about maintaining healthy relationships with family and friends but also how to avoid the toxic ones, what flags should I consider to be the limit to detaching my peace from their toxicity.
Just found your channel today and it’s GOLDDD. And then you just mentioned candy, it’s me! Feeling super seen and supported from your work. Powerful voice & story! Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
OMG!! I had to stop and comment when you mentioned candy as a self soother! My goodness my addiction to candy, more specifically cheery candy, was and still is a self regulation!!! 😩 I mean at this point it’s also a bad habit and I’m in my 30s. Thank you sharing!
28:49 What ive done in the past with journaling these emotions is write over and over on the same sentence so it just turns to black ink that i can’t read even if i tried again lol
just wanted to say if you find yourself identifying with aspects of both anxious and avoidant attachment styles you may have a 'disorganized' attachment style (that's what i have lol) just something to look into if ur interested
Yes yes!! I was thinking of that in my head but was like omg if bring thag up I’ll want to deep dive into that and I need to stay on track but yessss you are right 😭🤍
I don’t have free guided meditations or breathwork affirmations! 🤍 I have 3 digital journal guides & my book that I published, which you will find links in the description. They aren’t free though 🤍
i love how you connected an individual and a relationship on what someone aka yourself needs. i think it’s very important to actually listen to your NEEDS and WANTS. taking care of business 🤍
Love your stuff, but the “circumstances don’t matter” phrase is pretty dismissive and disrespectful to a lot of viewers. Some circumstances really do matter a lot.
I’ve always made it abundantly clear that when I’m saying circumstances don’t matter it’s not that they don’t exist or don’t actually matter. Coming from someone who’s withstood incredibly hard circumstances, I will agree to disagree with you on this one.
@@theglowupsecretspodcast I'm sorry, but I just don't quite understand what you're trying to say -- it's not abundantly clear. It seems that an effective paraphrase of your comment is "when I say circumstances don't matter, it's not that they don't actually matter." But there's no elaboration on what you really mean there. Every human goes through incredibly hard circumstances. And at least once, those circumstances will matter so incredibly much that life gets flipped upside-down. I stand by what I said -- you should clarify what you mean, because your statement comes off as dismissive and disrespectful.
I don’t think she meant it to be dismissive, but regardless of what we’ve been through we all have a responsibility to either heal from it and move forward or to stay stuck in it. I’m wishing you the best.
Maybe it would be easier to break down what Elicia has touched upon in several of her videos with this summary: Every person is born into a set of circumstances. And it's sometimes 'survival of the fittest' so there are bound to be many who have learnt to react, not respond, to certain stimuli with a pre-recorded set of actions because that's what they did to survive from a difficult childhood. But after a certain point in life, those recorded 'reactions' and the internal narrative surrounding those survival skills might not be self-sustaining anymore. So one of the questions that comes up is: is the person in question still expecting some sort of apology from those who have harmed them? But will that apology really give the person the closure that they seek? Or will it simply be a feel-good thing that happened, but didn't really address the core issues? All to say, any narrative that a person has about their life comes from them. Sure, there are certain circumstances that will require a lot of effort to navigate and it can feel like life is betting against them, which is also a narrative, but that doesn't mean no one person has to focus on what they can't do and can't try to do what they can do at the moment of crisis. Especially when the crisis does not constitute bodily harm or lack of bodily autonomy. The 'circumstances doesn't matter' means that a narrative can always be changed to what a person wants it to be to motivate themselves. Or don't. Since the choice of any narrative is up to the person living their life.
