Can I just say it was pretty trippy wearing all of your prescriptions! I wonder if anybody has looked through so many different ones in such a short space of time before!? I was spaced out for a while afterwards 😂
Lol I was wondering how you were handling so many different prescriptions. Was impressed how you kept so composed as if it wasn’t affecting your vision at all.
Hi Robert. I've only discovered your channel in the last couple of days but I'm hooked. It's wonderful to find someone so passionate about all things 'spectacles'..... You've certainly 'opened my eyes' to the many aspects of coatings, tints, gradients, frames and all things to do with glasses. Something many of us take for granted and are not fully aware of just what we can ask our optometrist to do in order to enhance our experience and style. Thank you again.
You are so good at this. I've learned a lot about what's available outside the mainstream retail stream! I'm sure most of these specs are out of my league, but maybe it's something to save for as a true statement piece down the road. Those Porsche aviators are INCREDIBLE.
I honestly see better with non polarised orange/red warm coloured amber tint. It contrasts every colour beautifully, making everything stand out and making everything look like it is under a warm sunset. Really useful while driving in both bright and overcast conditions.
I totally agree with you on the amber tint, it's so stylish and luxurious and so soft on the eyes. I have a pair of Moscots made of chunky acetate. Both the frame and the gradient lens are exactly this tint of amber . You won't believe how many people asked me where I got them, not counting the curious glanses from strangers I get every time I put them on. On a more sour note though, most people get taken aback when I tell them how much I paid for them! Still, they are definitely a jewel in my collection.
All that matters is that you think they're worth it. Moscot isn't even a particularly expensive brand (not down-playing the value BTW), so don't feel bad! And so glad to hear your feedback on this incredible tint.
@@thespectaclefactory I know Robert. I am from North America. RayBan rules here, even for glasses for vision. I can see you cringe, haha! Therefore anything over $200 sounds like a big deal . Thank you for your input. You're the best vision consultant I happened to come across on UA-cam.
I really want to try that sweet violet tint at my appointment! I would never have thought of that colour for a tint and was thinking of something more obvious. Still haven't decided on which Reykjavik Eyes frame to pair it with.
Man, videos like this one are so helpful to customers who need to understand optical technologies, and how you can create personal style choices. You've taught me a lot and can't wait to try on my new glasses. Bravo Robert!
Great video. Totally agree that photochromic lenses is the way forward. For sure! Ideally with some mirror. The only thing that I don't like about them is that they don't get as dark when wearing a hat.
I am interested in these lenses. Can someone recommend which color is best ? Grey, green and blue are an option in a shiny black frame. I would love to know what your experience is with this lenses. Thanks.
Hi Robert, do you do consultations online and suggest glasses that will suit ones face, shape, colour, etc. ? In addition, do you suggest tints, which we can then ask for in our own country? I am based in India and have been wearing spectacles since I was 6. Thanks to your videos, now that I am 42, I am learning about tints and various contrasts and combinations. Thank you for continuing to make videos and showing up so many possibilities, rather than the same old boring glasses we are used to wearing.
I watched this video and went the next day and placed an order for a pair of JF Rey 2899 in black wood / carbon with a grey gradient tint 35% Not something I would've tried previously but you convinced me.
Great video Robert! Thanks for creating an eyewear wardrobe for me. Can’t wait to get my RE Elias and BP Cecil and wear them here in Thailand! As mentioned to you, I have a Reykjavik Eyes Vor (Aviator style). Thinking of a polarised lens with mirror finish for this, but don’t particularly want a fixed tint. Is it possible to have a brown gradient (already have green on my Cecil) adaptive sun and polarised, with diamond flash? How do you think this would fit in as a 3-pair eyewear wardrobe? Or do you suggest some other tint/flash combo?
Hi Pol! Unfortunately the Adaptive Sun cannot be polarised and gradient. But I still think a solid tint with Diamond Flash would work with the VOR, and it would give you another dimension for sure. This pair would be ideal for driving and around the water, which I know is important to you!
I think I got you-Polarised lens has to be non-gradient. But being adaptive sun, it will still vary from 60 to 97% even though it is polarised? Thanks again Robert.
Just found your channel and binging the content. Watched the video where you had viewers send in pics of their collections and bummed, would love your take on my collection. I’ve got a number of new and vintage frames, and you have inspired me to get magma orange in my next pair which are for walking / working out in the Southern California sun! Just got a vintage mint condition pair of Prada sport frames, a beautiful ocean blue frames with magma orange lenses sounds perfect to me. Thanks for the motivation 🤓
I like the fixed tint to change the look and the mood. Definitely adds style and shows that you are different from the norm when you step into the room. Picking up some JMM with an amethyst(similar to sweet violet) tint on black acetate around 40%
Learned in this vid you did video consultation. Can I do a consultation and send you the frames I own and have you fill the prescription and put all the options you offer to be put on the lenses ?
I love my tinted eyeglasses....I got a grey medium tint on both pairs, and yes, I do feel a bit "removed" from it all when I have them on and I like it. They look stylish and set you apart from the crowd. None of my pairs of glasses have clear lenses. 👍
We actually make a specialised golf lens that I designed and which is proprietary to us so I'd recommend that. Get in touch if you're interested in a pair hello@thespectaclefactory.com
I love this video and just stumbled upon your channel. After being inspired, I went to my Zeiss certified optometrist and asked about fitting my frames with similar ask as what this video shows (slight gradient tint, flash coating, anti glare, photo fusion, etc). He looked at me and said that there’s no way to do such things and began telling me of how tints wear out eventually but that it can’t be done with zeiss photochromic lenses. Basically, I have to stick with the trivex , photofusion, digital lenses. But that they’ll have a slight tint indoors. So, do you take HSA (Health Savings Account) payment? lol
Just subscribed great work just bought prada crystal eye glasses will probably go gradient blue or gradient gray thanks again or your favorite blue gray 40 tint which is a work of art
Sweet violet is one of my all-time favourites, thanks to you.💜🔥😛 The sweet violet gradient custom shape you created looks really cool and would look great in a Flair rimless pair 🤔✅
Just subscribed - wonderful! Robert, what tint would you suggest? - I'm a 6'4 male, 49 years old, on the cool on the subtle side, not loud. Classic, not in your face. I'm entertaining the thought of my first pair of crystal/clear frames. They have a hint of smoke in them. I never considered tints until I found your channel. What tint color and percentage would you suggest? I would prefer very subtle, not dark at all, almost none to tell you the truth. The lenses would be trivex, Varilux Series X progressives. Thank you! Appreciate the thoughtfulness to every sentence.
Hi Robert, I just discovered your channel and it's amazing! I love your talks about how lens color can affect your mood! I lost my 12 years old RayBans and I missed their specific green color. I've tried many sunglasses with green lenses but not able to find similar green color. First, I bought new RayBan with G15 but this is not even green, this is more grey color..then I tried Etnia Barcelona Polarised HD green glasses - these are very good and pleasant for the eyes however they are little bit yellowish than green..the best green I've found so far was in Oliver Peoples - Oliver Sun model special collaboration with Bruno Cucinelli (this was also very special color (named as "Green C") made only for this particular model but differs from "Green C" color in other models in their lineup!), but I'm missing that "deep water green" color as my old RayBans had..I'm not sure they were made by Bausch and Lomb but definitely they had very unique green color lenses I'm looking for. As you're the expert and you had many sunglasses in your hands do you happen to advise some perfect forest? water? crystal green lenses? They should be made of mineral glass. I loved the mood when wearing them that's the reason I'm still looking for similar glasses..:( I found one video where some guy is showing the old RayBans and it seems it's the color I'm looking for..ua-cam.com/video/JxZLGEj11aw/v-deo.html Many thanks and keep doing a great work!
I have never tinted my glasses before but this has changed my mind. Completely changes the look of some of those frames. I was going to get transition lenses for some driving glasses but magma orange it is!
Love the rimless frame with tint! I get what you mean with having purple making things calm and serene. I'm planning to get that amber tint + rimless (with prescription). Do you think amber would be a great, day to day eyeglasses? Or would you prefer adaptive?
Being a lighting enthusiast I initially thought I'd hate green tinted lenses until I tried some G15s, the colours look great, especially blues and the overall tint isn't as repulsive like green-leaning LEDs make things appear. I still absolutely want some pink/brown lenses though.
so bro,i am thinking to go for a powered sunglass ,so which tint would you suggest for long hours on computer plus for outdoors which deflects a good rate of sunlight
@thespectaclefactory : Hello Robert, I was wondering, is that Amber gradient tint with amber flash coating a Zeiss colour? I couldn't find it. Also, for some reason, here in Belgium, it doesn't seem possible to get their "Fun" range of colours (Magma Orange, Sunset tints,...) with their various Flash coatings. Is that possible? I tried ordering a pair of Magma orange Drivesafe lenses with Sapphire Flash as you have, but that combination is not possible apparently?
Hi Robert, and thank you for the video and info you provided to us. This year I'll be looking for a brand new pair of frames... But I am curious: what do you think about the Balmain brand eyewear? Is it any good?
I'm going for my eye test at my local big name opticians tomorrow. Can I get these tints there? I'll almost certainly go for new glasses as I've only one of four frames I really like. Hopefully I'll avoid expensive mistakes this time. They always say Transitions don't work on the car. I wonder if they can do that there now.
Are you saying that tinted glasses appear dark from the outside when any light hits them... like on a stage with spotlights etc... but the person can see theough them without the roo, becoming dark?
Absolutely great video, thank you! Tints are my big passion as well! Could you maybe do a video describing the feel that it gives you. You did it very well with red
Thank you for video with the nice glasses 👌🏼 I have the blue and violet lens from Zeiss on my sunglasses. But my friend said me that it’s not healthy to my eyes to wear blue or violet colour lenses because my eyes will getting more blue and ultraviolet sunlight and it’s dangerous for anybody eyes and some people can get cataract. Do you know about it something?
I need some advice! I’m getting a new pair of ray ban tortoise frames. I usually add a custom 20-25% tint on top of photochromic lenses. I’m wondering what colour combos would look good on a polished tortoise frame. What would be a good tint, photchromic and flash colour combo? Thanks!
What is the best tint colour for those who spend most of the time on laptop, mobile for reading purpose and some cooking as well. Most of the time spend is indoor.
Hi Robert! I am still curious about the silhouette. What shape will you prefer for that frame? I have that kinda of frame and wanna to reshape and tint it. Please reply your thoughts means alot. Thanks in advance
How would you go about ordering such lenses? I like the Reykjavik ELIAS with the PhotoFusion X Blue + Flash Sapphire. Is there a particular outlet which provides such lenses?
I've got a couple of questions: Are sweet violet and magma orange Zeiss colors or are these colors that you guys came up with? Also, is it not possible to have a custom tint and combine them with photo fusion? Like 20% sweet violet that get darker in the sun, do you know what I mean? Cheers
We made custom versions of those colours. Does it matter? Do you specifically *not* want to order them from us for some reason? Is there another company you would prefer to support? No, custom tint + PhotoFusion is not allowed by the German lab
@@thespectaclefactory Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that! This is the first video I’ve seen from your channel, and I honestly didn’t know PhotoFusion glasses were a thing. I’ve wanted tinted glasses for ages, and your colors look amazing. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can afford a trip to the UK for prescription glasses-but if I could, I’d definitely buy them from you!
Robert, you refer to adaptive lenses, in Canada is that the same feature we call progressive lenses, thanks love the channel, found it a few weeks ago it’s Feb 2024 here :) I’m light sensitive too, have clip on polarized solid brown over clear lenses with anti glare (basic)
You've mentioned before how blue lenses are calming but for someone with sensitive eyes and prone to headaches would they cause issues? Or would it be fine? I love how blue lenses look but I have baby eyes lol.
Amazing video and content! I've learnt so much over these last days going through many of your videos. Thanks for educating us on doing the best possible purchases for our eyes 🙌🏼😎
I thought you didn't sell Silhouette 😂 but seriously my favourite tints out of that lot is the gradient sweet violet. A question regarding adaptive sun, techincally they are capable of going upto 97% dark but what's the reality? I ask becuase Photofusion X is supposed to go around 87% (I think) but I have only seen mine do this when put under a very strong UV test lamp, outdoors it never goes that dark so I somehow doubt that Adaptive Sun will easily hit their maximum darkness. Also why can't Ziess do photofusion X with a fashion tint?
😂 We don't, the Silhouette's were the customers frames that they sent in to us for customisation. In terms of adaptive sun, it would depend on the UV but when I had mine on a hike recently I'd say they went very close to 97%!
I would like to see 3 contrasting/different colors. Like a ruby transisions, green base tint and a blue flash coating. Or just 3 colors that shouldn't work but might be awesome
This is grear. What lens would you go with for nightclubs so that you can still see in the dak but cuts lasers and strobe light. Also looks good indoor daytime? Amber? Is ther any that are yellow amber but transition darker in sunlight? Can you make lens for the rayban wayfarer meta glasses?
Hi, we have many lens and tint options available - Why don't you book a free virtual consultation with us and we'll go through the best options for you 😊 Contact us at... www.thespectaclefactory.com/v-contact
Hi . Which colour tint will look best with thick JMM navy blue frames for spectacles indoor purpose - light blue 12 % or light pink or light amber or what ???
Hi, why don't you drop us an email at hello@thespectaclefactory.com and one of the team will discuss this further with you. You can also book a virtual consultation with Robert if you like and he can go through all of the options with you and help you choose what will be best for you.
I can't help but feel that an Amber flash would've also worked with the Magma Orange on that particular pair, since there's already so much going on with the contrasting colours as it is. Thoughts?
Stylistically, yes, but the whole point of this lens is maximum contrast and reducing as much blue light as possible is essential for that. Sapphire reflects extra blue light away from the eyes
I have a pretty bad case of dark circles. Although I'm of a darker complexion, people say it's immediately noticeable when I remove my glasses. I find my 25% gradient tint works wonders for it. Specifically I'm wearing a pistachio tint, but perhaps if you have a lighter complexion, it might be worth considering a stone tint (25% grey/black to 10% rose).
@@bernard2016 The frame that I'm using is for that specific instance is a Reykjavik Eyes Karl (thin black titanium frame). The high contrast of the frame's edges creates a visual separation from the continuity of the skin, therefore tricks the brain from easily noticing the change in the skin tone closer to your eyes. The tint helps, but even without a tint, I've gotten the same observation from others.
@thespectaclefactory I have an old pair of lenses and glasses, have a new prescription now, but I would like to get them tinted but my current optician will not tint the old lenses for me as they are not my current prescription (liability), seems such a waste as I can see out of them lenses well and have them in lovely gold coloured frames, where can I go to get these tinted by a willing optician here in Ireland
With Adaptive Sun, how light does the tint get indoors? Is the tint 40% or 60%? It seems to my own uneducated eye, that if Adaptive Sun starts at a 40% tint, especially with a gradient, it would be more preferable than Photofusion because Adaptive Sun goes darker? Am I wrong?
Hi Robert. your videos made me decide that my next pair of glasses should be luxurious (probably acetate or reykjavikeyes) with a beautiful indoor tint which transforms outdoor. I wonder what is the budget i should set aside for a pair of lens that have a tint, changes colour under UV and probably have a reflective coating - this will help me plan towards my next pair.
Thans Robert. I am from India, decided to go with tansition gen 8 lenses. But confused between grey or graphite green. Can you please help me to select one. I haven't used transition lenses before.
Hey I feel like the other sweet violet lenses you modelled before were more purple. While these are more blue? Is that so or is it just a difference in frame color?
I'm somewhat confused. Dissappointed in my new Cartier Panthere silver progressive computer glasses. I wanted everyday gradient blue tint with adaptive sun with flash. What I received was clear lenses which darken in sunlight ...I believe photochromic with a flash coating. My request seems to be new territory for them. But watching your videos on tinting I'm not so sure what is doable. I thought photochromic lens could be tinted indoors but todays video seems to suggest no, they are clear. The last set of fashion tints on your video do not alter for outdoors. So am I correct that if I want tint indoors and darker outside they should be ordering an adaptive sun lens. Hopefully a gradient blue with a sapphire flash coating. Is this correct? Which lens are best adaptive? Finally, wondering how you work with international customers. Can you collaborate with the opticians I purchased the frames from to make me the lens?
which is better zeiss or hoya....for a very active person who spend so much time outdoor mostly in harsh condition....essilor is a junk...get destroy with in a years

Informative vor! Cheers! Does Zeiss provide this adaptive gradient tint? Or other companies?
Absolutely great video, thank you! Tints are my big passion as well!
Could you maybe do a video describing the feel that it gives you. You did it very well with red
Question what’s your opinion on Chromeheart glasses
im in the states. when you say flash coating is that the same as what we call a subtle mirror coating?
Did not hear much about glasses/tints good for computer screens? Whats good for eye strain staring at spreadsheets all day?
Do you recommend anyone in the states to do as good of a job tinting as you have done? What percentage of a tint was the sweet violet?
Hi Robert, what is the tint % of the lens that you wear at the beginning of the video? That's amazing color!
What about the effect of various colour tints on the quality of vision and health of the eyes, ...having put all the posing and ego tripping aside??
Hi Robert!
I am still curious about the silhouette.
What shape will you prefer for that frame?
I have that kinda of frame and wanna to reshape and tint it.
Please reply your thoughts means alot.
Thanks in advance
Hi we went for a trapezoid shape lens and they look amazing!
How would you go about ordering such lenses? I like the Reykjavik ELIAS with the PhotoFusion X Blue + Flash Sapphire. Is there a particular outlet which provides such lenses?
Yes! We make glasses like this for clients all over the world. Just email me - rob@thespectaclefactory.com, and I'll make it happen for you
@@thespectaclefactory emailed on Tuesday 7th May, no reply yet...
I mean transition lenses, so confusing with our different terminology
Transitions is just one brand of Photochromic lenses.
Very informative. Thank you Robert.😊
No problem!
You've mentioned before how blue lenses are calming but for someone with sensitive eyes and prone to headaches would they cause issues? Or would it be fine? I love how blue lenses look but I have baby eyes lol.
You'd be much better with the Sweet Violet
how much does this normally cost to set up and change my lense like sweet violet @17:41? Thank you
Love your explanations. I own a wholesale lab Want to start selling specialty tints any suggestions or tools you recommend ?
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩
🙏
more info on where i could get that J FRey carbon/wood amber gradient plz. love it!!!!
Hey mate, is it possible for you to make me a prescription lens for the G1 add on sunglasses?
Yep!
@@thespectaclefactory Can we have a meeting pls?
Gosh, you're stylish, especially your clothes 😅. You have quite spectacular taste and the orange glass looks so elegant and geekish on you.😊
Thanks😀 Appreciate it
Hi
I have a question regarding prescription sunglasses.
Can you keep your thin lenses 1-74 and have sunglasses paired with them?
I would like to see 3 contrasting/different colors. Like a ruby transisions, green base tint and a blue flash coating. Or just 3 colors that shouldn't work but might be awesome
What's your opinion on night driving with a low tint, say sub 20%?
This is grear. What lens would you go with for nightclubs so that you can still see in the dak but cuts lasers and strobe light. Also looks good indoor daytime? Amber? Is ther any that are yellow amber but transition darker in sunlight? Can you make lens for the rayban wayfarer meta glasses?

Can the adaptive sun lenses be added with prescription?
What is the tint recommendation for hiding dark circles? I really like the gradient sweet violet one but im afraid it will accentuate the dark circles
@@marcusdesilva8405 thanks a lot. I will give them a try
@@marcusdesilva8405 can i ask what is the frame color? Would a darker frame be better or a transparent one? Thanks
@@marcusdesilva8405 it makes sense. Thank you 👍👍
@thespectaclefactory I have an old pair of lenses and glasses, have a new prescription now, but I would like to get them tinted but my current optician will not tint the old lenses for me as they are not my current prescription (liability), seems such a waste as I can see out of them lenses well and have them in lovely gold coloured frames, where can I go to get these tinted by a willing optician here in Ireland
Hey Robert I want to contact you to get a pair of glasses. I was curious what’s the best way to do that? Thanks
Email me - rob@thespectaclefactory.com - I'd love to help but please be patient for my reply as I am getting so many enquiries recently
HNY🎉 Can gradient tints help when viewing monitors?
I have searched everywhere and i cant find the robert la roche dash magma. Could you by any chance provide a link for them?
Email us via hello@thespectaclefactory.com and I'll help you to get a pair
With Adaptive Sun, how light does the tint get indoors? Is the tint 40% or 60%? It seems to my own uneducated eye, that if Adaptive Sun starts at a 40% tint, especially with a gradient, it would be more preferable than Photofusion because Adaptive Sun goes darker? Am I wrong?
What percent tint on the silhouette rimless sweet violet gradient?
Can you add mirror coating to existing lenses?
Grey + sapphire... or blue + sapphire... or blue = ruby... All three are amazing!
Hi Robert. your videos made me decide that my next pair of glasses should be luxurious (probably acetate or reykjavikeyes) with a beautiful indoor tint which transforms outdoor.
Do you have any videos showing the photofusion x colors without the flash coating? I cant find a video of that anywhere on youtube.
I really wanna buy Reykjavik eyes
But i live in iran, and it’s illegal to send things. so how can i get Reykjavik eyes?
I'm not aware of any limitations shipping to Iran so I think we would be able to post an order to you there?
Umm.. save more money to travel and then buy it on other country??
Was hoping my new pair made the cut, guess I have to get another pair 😂😂
May I know what sunglass you wearing in the thumbnail?
I’m hook I used hate glasses but now I’m so excited 😆
Awesome!
u have so many good design of eyeglasses. I love all of it
