The Untold Truth Of Gorillaz

- Опубліковано 7 лип 2024
- When the band Gorillaz first came onto the music scene in 1998, no one had seen anything like them before. There are plenty of bands who offer something new to their genre, but Gorillaz was the first virtual band.
The band’s fictional members are Stuart “2-D” Pot, Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle, but the band is brought to life by founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, as well as Remi Kabaka Jr., who joined later on.
The fictional story of the band is full of ups and downs, but the real-life story of the band’s creation is just as fascinating, so let’s take a look at the untold truth of Gorillaz.

The real untold turth is that Gorillaz are becoming what they used to critique. When once they said 'reject false icons' (the main reason the band was created) they now tout their own icon. Though, they have gotten better as this issue was more problematic during the Humanz era.

Can’t believe you didn’t even talk about Demon Days. Such a Great album! Also surprised you didn’t mention that the Humanz album wasn’t received that well with most of the fans, so Damon later made The Now Now going back more into Gorillaz style by also having his voice in the songs more frequently.
i get why humanz got such mixed reception but I really hate people saying now now was an apology for humanz. like what a "fuck you" to damon albarn's work.

When i moved to Canada, to learn English the first two CDs i bought were Demon Dayz by Gorillaz
And Curtain Calls Eminem.
So glad i randomly picked those two because the cd covers looked bad ass.. such a huge influence on me in retrospect.
Damn- what a combo. Eminem is a walking dictionary, so that was a great choice too.
Jamie Hewlett, his work and all of Gorillaz' visual aspects, animation and everything that Damon Albarn is NOT in charge of, is EXTREMELY underrated and underbudgeted.
I think Jamie should just start a Patreon so we can see more of his work with the band.
Love how they just ignored Demon Days and feel good inc

GORILLAZ + TAME IMPALA OMG I CAN DIE HAPPY
I have a love/hate relationship with Gorillaz. I hold them dearly because they were such an influence for me from around the age of 11 and were the reason I loved drawing so much. The videos were incredibly entertaining for me and were something so unique in the days of MTV. Their website (as mentioned in this video) was a work of art for its time. I spent hours upon hours on the chat-o-matic and imagine my surprise when one of my messages was included on the Celebrity Takedown DVD- something I didn't know until years after its release! Their early albums ALWAYS had such bangers in them: Clint Eastwood, Rock Da House, 19/2000, Dare, Feel Good Inc, I could go on, but their later albums became very preachy. Very. I was never particularly interested in the 'lore' of the band. I enjoyed the animations for what they were: music videos- they complimented the music. I've never been into the 'human' side of the band. Personally, I find Albarn to be an utter prick. He's rude to fans and is completely up his own arse with regards to his political views and opinions. I unfollowed him for flat out telling people to "Vote Corbyn" on his Instagram some years back. Humanz album was so fucking preachy that I don't consider any song on there in my top 10 Gorillaz songs. It actually soured my love for the band. As an adult, I don't need to be told by a bunch of multi-millionaires to be a good human and treat everyone the same. As much as I dislike Albarn, it's easy to separate him from Gorillaz because of the nature of the band.
As much as I dislike Humanz (and Albarn), the tour was my first concert and it was unforgettable. Hearing the songs I fucking loved since a kid being played live was incredible. If you ever have the chance to see them live, DO IT. It's honestly an experience. The energy is something else.
I'm hoping with the new release, they go back to just making good music. Cracker Island seems very promising and I loved it from the first few seconds. Definitely got good vibes like their early stuff from it. Here's hoping they start making fantastic music again.
Would I watch a Gorillaz movie? No, I don't think I could sit through 90+ mins of being preached to, but those that do, each to their own. I hope they make a film for your sake, I really do.
They should make a movie from the characters about a band that's stuck in a dystopian world.
I've known of them since I was a teen...31 now... I didn't know any of this... Shocked
This shit gave me chills 20 years + for gorillaz 😭😭😭😭😩an ofc all their animation matters that shit ain't easy

Okay I'm stopping at 1.02. They knew each other in 93 Jamie was friends with a different band member. They both hated each other. In the video star shaped you can see a very young Jamie with the band.
It's sad nobody around my age listens to Gorillaz :(
How old are you?
@@agneskathrine4357 well I'm in seventh grade so I'm 12-13!
It's your job to introduce them to your friends!!
for an untold truth video you seemingly left out the part that Humanz, although financially successful as any gorillaz album will be for the end of time, it was met with large backlash and crtisism from both critics and fans alike for unmemorable tracks, and endless features that push Damon Albarn himself to the back
hearing you talk about the now canceled movie is so pain :(
to-the-point and compelling. thanks.
The fact that slowthai got on a track with them gives me so much life man
The Entire Demon Days album is to date my fav album
The Nostalgia is crazy for me I started listening to them when I was 9 ❤ I wish I could go back just to feel that vibe I did when all them new sounds and emotions were first being heard
I've been avoiding watching this because I thought it would be a hot take on gorillaz scandals and misdeeds, and I didn't wanna sour the love and admiration I held for them by watching a random video on their potential short comings and less than favorable stories. But I'm glad I gave it a shot because this is a great roundup of their story! Its difficult to find gorillaz backstory and future update (or just gorillaz in general) videos in 2021-2022 so this is perfect when you just wanna lie back, chill, catch up and admire how far they've come.
I've ben a fan since the beginning and will continue :)
